  1. Well it's not so much about what a Wizard can and can't do with magic. It's about what two different Wizards operating with independent aims and means can do. Remember the miscibility rules from the old style D&D?
  2. Overthinking it by thinking about it? Hmm. Sure bub.
  3. I don't understand what you are proposing but suppression didn't add any gameplay/systemic depth, it is just a rule to uphold the balance. Certain slots giving certain buffs removes the problem altogether. No, not altogether. The example states both gloves and boots can give Dex bonuses, so there is still stacking. I'm saying why allow stacking at all? A Dex bonus from gloves tries to improve your action; a Dex bonus from boots also tries to improve your Action -- why should the result be cooperative? It's more likely to trip you up. Two forms of magic providing the same benefit wouldn't necessarily stack; they're more likely to interfere with each other.
  4. Why allow magic item buffs to stack? If they aren't part of a set, it would be more interesting if they interfered with each other. For example, two +3 Might items should net out at +2 Might. That makes stacking easier to resolve mechanically, and gives the player more of a challenge to decide what gear to use.
  5. Brainsmasher? Bartender, I'll have one brainsmasher, hold the rocks.
  6. Actually, that's kind of understandable. Their music is a tad on the eclectic side.
  7. Can Substantial Phantom be cast without its shocking effect? Hmm I suppose 30 seconds isn't long enough for some significant canoodling though. Maybe the elf Wizard needs to get busy developing Aloth's Phantom Bed Buddy with a one hour duration.
  8. It would probably be too expensive to change up all the game mechanics to suit the Beyond. Perhaps simulated combat will just be a mental manifestation, so it looks the same but without inflicting the same physical wounds. Instead you'll suffer from a "confused mind" or "overpowering emotions", which can be just as crippling. Instead of dying, you go catatonic.
  9. I still check these forums from time to time. Most of the NWN2 action is on the Vault though.
  10. Isn't that just what you get when you train at something but later a new opportunity comes along that requires additional training? Gee, that's tough bud.

  12. And the bite. Don't forget the bite (speaking from experience).
  13. When you find somebody's posts to be consistently unpleasant to the point where you always want to skip them, then Ignore makes forums easier to scan through for enjoyable posts. Whether the blocked individual learns from the experience is beside the point. They no longer exist. You still see when the person posts though lol It just hides their comments, if the person is very active you will still see their name alot. They never fully dissapear. Yes I'm aware. But it's "good enough".
  14. A {beautiful mermaid|handsome merman} is spotted following your ship, and as you look below you see {her|him} gazing at you longing from underwater, inviting you into the depths. A haunting, desperate need fills your soul as {her|his} mesmerizing visage ensnares your thoughts. Do you: 1) Hold your breath and dive into the icy waves 2) Make anchor and drop your fishing nets in the water 3) Fire your cannons in salute and sail onward
  15. NWN2 patches are available at the Vault. My suggestion is to purchase the GoG release of Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete for $20 and save yourself a lot of headaches.
  16. Reducing the party size in general makes it tactically less interesting. If you get attacked by a second force in the flank or rear now, you'll be fighting them with your glass cannon. Yawn. It'll be much more difficult for a rogue to get a flank attack benefit. Yawn. If the barbarian runs off to battle in an island, it'll leave the rest of your party barely able to protect your wizard. Yawn. I guess we'll see.
