Should inactive NPCs get XP or not?
Yes. I don't see why, in a party-based game, not leveling-up certain companions is a good idea.

What was your favourite quest in an RPG? Why?
Can't of think of any all times favorite quest, but one I did recently and liked: The eyeless one cult in BG2. Why? 1. I liked the atmosphere in the hall of the dead god and his servants. 2. The puzzle in the battle against the demon(where you had to heal him to kill him) was brilliant, IMO. 3. You can finish the quest with little fighting if you want to.

If there was only one RPG to be saved in the world I would choose.....
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Integration is King
I heard that it was due to engine constraints, rather design choice.

Multi Racial ethnicities
Okay, but I think that there is a difference between races living in the same city that regard one another as distinct communities(like in most fantasy settings), and people of different races(humans and dwarves) that consider each other to be part of the same cultural entity(or ethnicity), which I think is what PE aiming for.

Multi Racial ethnicities
From one of Josh' posts about lore. We covered some of this subject in this thread, but I'd like to expand on it some more. So this idea sounds interesting, but I wonder how it's supposed to work, exactly. In our world, when two different (human)races met, it ended either in oppression/slavery(Indian castes, Black slavery etc') or mixing(both in some cases), but rarely(if ever) in mutual collaboration to a point of forming a distinct ethnicity while still retaining their racial features. While I understand that PE's world is different from our own, I wonder how a multi-racial ethnicity is possible. What's your opinion? Feel free to give examples on how the idea was handled in other settings.

More like 50-60k edit: you were probably talking about today's overall backing on paypal. In that case you are right.

Good question about the races.

Dwarf Society
Makes sense though. If pigmentation is an evolutionary response to the environment, then related species (because let's face it, there isn't that much difference between an elf and a dwarf or a human) within the same environment would, over the hundreds or thousands of years develop similar traits, no? I don't think so. I mean, you can still tell apart Scandinavians from Samis, despite the fact that both groups lived side by side for thousands of years. I think it's race-mixing. Maybe it's like in Tolkien's world, where an offspring of a mixed couple will take the features of only one race, no "middle ground". Perhaps in PE's world coloring is passable from both parents, but not bone structure(does it even make sense)?

Dwarf Society
In a way similar to Tarant from Arcanum then? I don't mind mixed species ethnicities. As long as it's done well (of course that is the case with anything, right?) I don't remember much from Arcanum, but here are some quotes from the latest update: So groups within an ethnicity share similar coloring but belong to different races... Intredasting. I hope they will release more info about it.

Dwarf Society
Judging by Sawyer's latest update, it seems that ethnicities in this world aren't race exclusive(like that Vaailians who are mostly human with dwarf minority). Which is kinda of a weird twist.

Kickstarter Overtime?
No. But they can still use paypal for awhile. DFA and Wasteland 2 still accept funding through paypal.

To Tim Cain and Remnants of Troika
Probably not being a top-down-view turn based RPG, unlike the other two, they felt it wasn't a good candidate. I would believe that if KOTOR 2 and New Vegas weren't listed there as well.

To Tim Cain and Remnants of Troika
Speaking of that, VTMB isn't listed in the pitch video(while Arcanum and TOEE do). Why is that?

Josh Sawyer VGRevolution Interview
I'm not sure what he means when he says that Obsidian "helped make some that are near and dear to my heart. They’ve been a part of Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout: New Vegas, Neverwinter Knights II". They didn't "help" to make these games, they were the sole developers of these titles.

What do you wish not to see in PE
In BG2 you can always send your rogue to scout the area ahead of the team to prepare yourself accordingly. That's what I do.

Riddles, Puzzles, Tests: No Multiple Choice, Fill in the Blanks Instead
OP, I had the exact same thought while doing the skinner quest in BG2(to refresh your memory: you were supposed to compose the true name of the skinner using riddles from a letter). It would have been much more challenging(and fun) if you had to type the answer yourself instead of choosing one from a list.

Dialogue & Stealth
Tim Cain said in his first update that you will be able to complete quests in various ways(stealth, dialogue, lockpicking etc'), not just combat.

Do you want to see an overworld that is more like Baldur's Gate 1 or more like Baldurs Gate 2?
I prefer hub-based exploration to free-roam in my RPGs. So yeah, BG2.

Man I hope the companions have more independent thought than the other games
While companion reactivity to your actions is important and all, I don't want it to be over punishing. Oh, and for the love of god, please no influence meters ala DAO and NWN2. I have no problems with companions hating me and eventually leaving me, but having something like influence meters ruins the immersion for me. If they do add that, I hope there will be an option to disable it.

Sub class skill trees
Yes if choosing a certain sub-class would affect how the world responds to you(which is something DA/DA2 failed to do with the blood mage specialization).

Just how Easy will Easy be?
No one ever mentioned "grinding levels", not even incidentally. Stop trying so hard. An RPG with a story dumbed down to just "flavor"(your own word), is usually a dungeon crawler/MMO style of game. No point denying that. I hope that's not what Obsidian is aiming for.
