  1. i got new batteries for my UPS. yesterday the power went out for one second and the UPS failed to keep my PC on. apparently the batteries could not hold any charge anymore.
  2. it's been a while since i last drank beer... now my stomach feels like a balloon ready to pop. im thirsty and i can't even drink water because im so full i can barely swallow my own saliva.
  3. the art and animation are just bad... as for the story they are pretty much butchering it. they skipped at least one arc and they are taking too many liberties on what to keep and what to cut and they make modification to what they keep to mask the holes left by the cuts
  4. Erdogan was helped into office by USA back in the day, but he had great plans for Turkey that did not coincide with US interests in the region so the relationship between them got sour. Lately there was talk about a probable coup incited by USA to topple Erdogan and replace him with a more submissive pawn so, considering how the current coup apparently had no strategic or tactical planning, it's probable that Erdogan staged a fake coup himself to boost his own popularity with the masses and find an excuse to thin the dissenters from the ranks of the army.
  5. i was removing some weeds from my garden earlier and i found a stray cat with her 4 newborn kittens hidden in the grass. the cat ran off as soon as i got close leaving the kittens behind. so i took them and put them in a box under the table. then i watched from a distance as the cat was coming and taking them one by one back in the bushes away from where i was weeding.
  6. the whole thing stems from the idea that multiculturalism is a good thing. a land needs a certain level of uniformity in order to be peaceful. if you have large chunks of the population following very different life philosophies, then conflict is inevitable. the italian culture is similar enough to the greek so that someone from either country can live in the other without having or causing problems. the culture of germany, while much more focused on discipline compared them, is still similar enough to both of the above to allow people to live together without conflict, as they can still bridge the gaps by making a few mutual compromises. however the culture of pakistan is way too different from any european country so a large enough number of pakistani in one place within a european country will cause problems as there is no common ground to use as a basis for reaching an understanding
  7. and assuming it's not another paper launch
  8. the first leaked benchmarks put it under the RX 480 in performance. http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/9202637/fs/9188962# still, if the 1080 and 1070 are any indication, the amount of 1060s available for sale when the launch day comes will be 1 for every 100 interested buyers at best.
  9. i went fishing once... didn't liked it. just sitting there waiting for a bite is too passive for my tastes, besides i'm not a big fan of fish (except for tuna). i never tried hunting, but i think i would enjoy that. i have a natural talent for stalking prey quietly like a cat.
  10. when it's not how enough to need the ac, i put a fan in front of an open window in the evening to have it suck cold air from outside and send it in the room.
  11. i always said that USA has a problem. they have created a vicious cycle. almost everyone is armed so the cops can't trust anyone. the cops are twitchy thinking that anyone can pull out a gun at any time so they shoot first and ask questions later at the first sign of danger. that makes people mad and more heavily armed and the cops get even more paranoid. the "gangsta culture" makes things even worse when it comes to blacks
  12. i on the other hand can't get drunk because i have a very high resistance to any mind altering substance... i have tried several times to get drunk and the biggest attempt was when i was 16 during a school trip in the hotel we were staying through a mix of 5 cans of beer, half a bottle of wine, several shots of vodka, 2 glasses of whisky and a .5L bottle of a local specialty that i don't remember how it was called but it was stronger than wine and very sweet so we drank it like water. i ended up being one of the 3 people who were not wasted and had to drag the rest of our classmates to their rooms. the result of any amount of drinking i did, always was that i just felt sleepy but i never developed any of the common symptoms of drunkenness like change of mood, being unable to walk straight, vomiting and so on.
  13. i have a 10 year old IDE disk and it still works. i use it as an external disk though since motherboards these days only have SATA
  14. Funny enough this makes sense, they are very similar in many ways Neither Putin or Edrogan care much about things like human rights rights do not exist anywhere in the world. all we have are privileges that our leaders allow us to have and that they can revoke any time. the difference between countries like russia, turkey, china and countries like US of the members of EU, is that the former don't need to cook up a convenient excuse first.
  15. i want to get me a 480 when the custom models are out. the best option for me is to order it from a german or french site. the price there + any shipping cost will still be cheaper than the price here.
  16. at first i thought to just step on it or use something to lift it out of the bathtub and throw it in the toilet then flush but considering it managed to get in the bathtub in the first place, chances were it could swim. so boiling it alive was the best option. and im pretty sure it can't have survived because the hot water in my house is really hot. when i turned it off i almost burned my hand just by touching the handle
  17. as i was shaving today, i saw a huge centipede crawling in the bathtub through the drain and did the most sensible thing: i turned on the water. that scared it back in the drain, but that was not enough. i turned it all the way to the hot and let a generous amount of almost boiling water run in the drain. that is one centipede that won't be bothering anyone ever again. and if anything else was in that drain pipe, good riddance. it is a straight pipe with no branching so there was no escape once the hot water went in
  18. maybe illegal is strong word but the holder of the PCIe trademark is obligated to take to court anyone who makes a PCIe hardware that draws more than 75W through the slot or they lose the trademark. so a hardware company is not allowed to make a PCIe product that draws more than 75W through the PCIe because of trademark infringement.
  19. i was reading something interesting on redit regarding the over 200W power consumption issue: passing more than 75W through PCIe is actually illegal. so i don't think AMD deliberately said 150W TDP, put a 6pin and said "let the other 130W pass through the PCIe and if it burns the motherboard who cares". no matter how big or small a company is, i don't think they would want to get sued and waste money in a courtroom. hmm, considering the above post, i think the most probable reason for the power issues may actually be a bad implementation of clock boost. from what i know AMD never had a boost in their cards before so the one they made for the 480 may not be working right.
  20. where the hell do they come up with these prices in this economy? the reference 480 8GB here is sold for around 350 euro... that's almost 400$. same card in france is sold for 265 euro. may as well order one from amazon.fr, even if i have to add a shipping fee it will still be cheaper
  21. i decided to start a "no humanity" run of dark souls. meaning i will get through all the game without ever reversing the hollowing which means without kindling any bonfire, without fighting against any invading spirit (npc or player) and without ever invoking any assistant for boss battles
