different how? i didn't see any changes... of course i was always playing on full zoom out so it was hard to notice any changes in any other perspective- The Funny Things Thread

in the end i had to save scum my way through that place in DS2 and of course it took me 50 attempts at the boss before i managed to kill one tiger and be one on one with the other. and the only reward for all that effort was the boss soul. trolling at it's finest- Nvidia unveils the GTX 1060
I used to be staunchly in the ATI camp, because of the better DVD playback at the time, but I had to switch to Nvidia because of its performance boost in Blender; and I've never had the incentive to switch back ~yet. So it's always going to be Nvidia for me until the Blender situation changes ~if it ever does. the main problem with the performance of AMD cards and CPUs is that they are locked into a contract with Global Foundries for their silicon. if they could get it from TSMC like nVidia does, they could clock the cores to the same speeds and combined with all the innovations they have crammed in there, they could be way ahead- What You Did Today
if you have 2 animals and one dies, it's a good idea to have the other come in contact with the corpse so it can realize that it's friend is dead. animals have an easier time getting over a death than having to wonder where the other guy is- What are you playing right now?
i'm struggling with the "Ivory King" DLC for Dark Souls 2. it's the epitome of unfair level design! despite the difficulty, the design of DS1 and the base game DS2 was fair. chalenging but never rage inducing (except for that one spot in Anor Londo with the 2 archers and the catwalks). i have to cross an area where there's a blizzard. every about 50s the blizzard subsides and i can see where i'm going for about 15s so i can orientate myself towards the next landmark. the problem is that unless i'm in close proximity to a landmark during these 50s, a rather powerful beast will spawn and attack me without me being able to see it until it's right on top of me. if i can make it to the next landmark, i can kill it and then try to get to the next but if the next blizzard hits while i'm fighting it away from the landmark, a second will spawn and if i somehow survive long enough for the next blizzard then a third and so on. the whole thing makes the trek from the bonfire to the boss take a good 20 minutes and no matter how fast i run, there is no way to get to the next landmark in the 15s of grace period so i have to blindly try to get to it in the blizzard while defending against the beast's attacks... and of course, the boss is the type that can 1 hit kill me even with my very high defense armor and to make matters worse there are no phantoms to summon AND when i remove 70% of the boss' hp, a second boss drops in, identical to the first and with max hp. that means that when i die in the boss fight, i have to make a 20 minute trek through endlessly respawning enemies to get back there.- US Election 2016, part III
i don't remember where it was that someone said that if Hilary wins, every man in the US will be considered a rapist until proven innocent. so i told him that if it comes to that, the solution is simple: every man registers as a muslim, so every time he is accused of anything he can cry "islamophobia" and get away with it- The Funny Things Thread
- What You Did Today
it's very shaky today, there was a small earthquake about 60km away from where i live this morning. while the quake itself was not too strong (they didn't even bother mentioning it in the news), there are lots of aftershocks all day long- What You Did Today
does that mean that no consensus is ever reached and all complaints end up ignored?- What You Did Today
in my case it's not. i never found anything fun about dancing, especially those traditional dances, and i just can't stand the music that goes along. when i see people dance like that, i'm always wondering if they really enjoy what they do or they somehow brainwashed themselves to think that they do... or they simply pretend to have fun doing it because everyone else is pretending too and they don't want to look uncool? well, in the end the thing works both ways: i can't understand what's so fun about dancing, and those who find it fun can't understand how can i not find it fun- What You Did Today
last night i was dragged by my mother to a social event hosted by the town's cultural society because apparently it would be a way to have fun and meet people... i had no fun and i met nobody, i just stayed seated drinking some wine and waiting for the crowd to get immersed in the festivities so i can leave unnoticed and go sleep. the only thing i got out of it was a ringing in my ears because of the loud music... and it was the type of music that makes me sleep: greek country music! the louder this music plays, the more sleepy i get when i hear it.- Shooting at Munich shopping mall
every single piece of evidence in this case screams "PREMEDITATION" but the german police insists on the amok story. i wonder why that is... maybe to dismiss any terrorism notions and pretend the country is secure?- Pokémon GO
i heard a nice one How to make a coup with the help of the people: while the parliament is in session, spread the rumor that an extremely rare pokemon has been spotted in there. thousands of people will storm the building- The Funny Things Thread
everyone in Greece is laughing today because of what a politician said yesterday during the session of the parliament. he claimed to have been a political prisoner and exiled during the dictatorship in the late 60s and knows what it's like to be persecuted for your beliefs. i don't know what made him say that and what point he was trying to make (i wasn't paying attention), the problem with that statement though, is that at the time he was barely 6 months old and his rich family had left the country before the coup because they knew it was coming. so while the greek people struggled against the regime, he lived in luxury in Paris and claims that this taught him the hardships of exile it was pretty obvious that everyone in the building was struggling not to laugh when he said it and i'm quite impressed that they managed to hold it in. today though, this has become THE meme in greek sites.- The Funny Things Thread
- Nvidia unveils the GTX 1060
Huh, because the review I saw from LinusTechTips had it over the RX 480 in every category except Hitman (a very AMD optimized game). Although the RX 480 is still beating it handily when it comes to price-for-performance assuming that the overdraw issue is fixed. i haven't seen that review but did they have DOOM there? and if yes, was it on open gl or vulcan? because on DOOM open gl the 1060 is about 20% faster than the 480 but on vulcan it's the other way around- The Funny Things Thread
