  1. That's pretty crafty, framing the debate so that your side just wants an enjoyable experience, while the other side consists mainly of fanatics.
  2. Thi smight have something to do that questionable design decisions regarding these terms are one of the symptoms of the overall decline of the genre.
  3. Vancian sucks. Remove evdk from premises. Good design advice. Funny that none of them work in the gaming industry then. People like Todd are proof enough that working in the game industry has nothing to do with having sensible design ideas.
  4. they should stop filching design ideas from WoW. Oh the enormous irony. I am just giddy! You lost me there, chief.
  5. I can't quite see how the game could end up being worse than with cooldowns. And if they do not want their forums to resemble battle net, they should stop filching design ideas from WoW.
  6. No. Let's not go there. No matter the execution, this would cause a ****storm of epic proportions.
  7. Then you simply do not know the truth of it, as several of the western games I mentioned, and many more, are in fact succesful amongst the normal consumers. That's why some of the games I mention exist at all. If that's what you think then you're horribly unaware of the eastern PC gaming markets that exist heavily, you sound like every other person I've ever talked to about this subject, with only a minority being the exception. I gave examples, a few, because listing every last one would be a pain, and you act like the ones I gave are the only ones in all existence and proclaim some of the games given as examples to be 'shallow' and the only reason they're a success and so on and so forth it's like I've had this conversation before with clones of you. Their PC market is pretty big actually, but, it also doesn't come over here a lot. Even amongst their console releases, given what knowledge you've shown so far, I think you'd be surprised at the amount they don't bring over here at all. As for Wizardry it was delivered to the east in more than one form, and, was a perfect example because not only is it a Western franchise that became popular in the east . . . but it's also a western franchise that the east adopted when it faltered, they kept it alive and are still making Wizardry games to this day. The only example? Not by a long shot but a well documented example certainly. I'm sorry, but you're simply wrong. And so is the poster that thought your post was spot on above. It's not my opinion that you're wrong, it's my first hand experience that you're wrong. In the end the point was that western RPGs have been, in the past, and still are, in the present, played on a consumer and business level in the east, and that point is very true. I think you'd be surprised. I had to grow up overseas, in Japan especially, and, if you've seen any of my posts on the forum I've played plenty of old to new western RPGs . . . why is this important? Because I was able to buy those games, before the internet, before anything, there, right there, in Japan and I wasn't the only one buying them. Then surprise us and name some titles FFS. The only Japanese PC games I know are Touhou - your titles are not doujinshi as well by any chance, are they?
  8. OK, from a roleplaying perspective multiclassing might be a problem, but since we do not know whether it will be included in the final game that is a moot point.
  9. FFS, not again. I don't care what the hell they back with their own money. And if you somehow missed Sawyer being into this social justice shtick, then you are even thicker than I thought, Nigro.
  10. Hey, I am a market for a new Wizardry game. Isn't that what Cleve is working on deep within the confines of his bunker?
  11. Pretty low. DA2 might not be popular here, but how about some respect? It's just a video game. When he starts respecting my intelligence I'll start respecting him. I am not holding my breath.
  12. what about quicktime events? pressing randomly chosen buttons while watching your party backflipping around would be amazing! Massive trolling detected. Or sarcasm.
  13. And this is supposed to tell as what? That the whole Czech gaming community hates games translated into Czech? It's a bloody small community, I say. Btw. News abut this poll reached one of the biggest Polish game related sites...the results are visible immediately I was answering the sentence "I cannot stand a game not translated into Polish", so it should be pretty obvious to even the most casual observer that we were trading personal anecdotes. But nice selective quoting, friend.
  14. That's not what knowing English perfectly fine means. Trust me, it is. I live in Italy and i speak perfectly Italian (Better than Polish wich is my native language) but i can`t stand playing a game (specialy an RPG) that is not translated to Polish ... You people are weird. I cannot stand a game translated into Czech. Must be a Polish thing
  15. I'd say that's because most of the people from central Europe that would be interested in this project don't need a translation either. That is unfortunately not true. Lot of people over 30 who love RPGs games, unfortunately do not speak english good enough to enjoy text heavy games, but I know that translation to my language would be absolute waste of money, the spike of sales would not justify the effort. Sooner or later some fans make translations of the game to local language. That's what happened with BG1,2 and PS:T. Most of the fans purchased these games after fanmade translations few years later. EDIT: And as a fact, every single translation to my language absolutely ruined the immersion for the people who played the game before in English language... Even if they marketed it as a "professional" translation... One of the worst experience in gaming I have ever had, was to hear Grunt in Warcraft III speaking my local language... That does not much my experience at all - most of the "hard core" (god, that's a stupid term) gamers I know played the games in English and learn the language along the way. Of course personal anecdotes mean nothing. And yes, at least for me, terms and sentences that in English sound merely cliché sound horribly cheesy and unbearable in my language. In fact one of the worst experiences I had was playing IWD2 in Czech - being used to 3E English terms for spells and feats, the Czech translation confused me and the dialogues were even worse (no to mention that they could not keep one translation for the name "Neverwinter" in two different sentences).
  16. I'd say that's because most of the people from central Europe that would be interested in this project don't need a translation either.
  17. I don't only speaking for this thread . I opened 1 or 2 threads and I don't like the reactions . You mean reactions to you suggesting absolute bonkers features like PVP and tired fantasy clichés to be included in the game? The mind boggles.
  18. How would they even know? Do you have to flash a class license before entering city limits?
