What would make you pledge more?
Elerond replied to Ilrahan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But are you saying that it doesn't really matter what they announce? If it doesn't why not pledge more now? No I am saying that I have strong faith to that I will like what direction they will take, but I don't dismiss that change that they can go towards such direction which I am not the greatest fan, and then they must be content with that $228 (collector + shipping + 3 extra copies + obsidian order pledge) what I have already pledged. -
That gave me nice cold shivers. So thanks you for your excelent songs Armand.

In literal translations I really hate how they destroy meaning from wordplays. Here is an classic Finnish wordplay, which purpose is to confuse another as it uses same words to mean different things in same sentence. But if you make literal translation to english then you lose whole meaning from it. As you can see. Kärpänen (fly) toiselle (to another): Tuu (come) kattoon (to ceiling) kattoon (to watch) kun (how) toinen (another) tapettiin (was killed) tapettiin (on tapestry).

Dialog, best seen and not heard?
Elerond replied to Bhazor's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think that in most ot the cases, editing, studio time, voice directing, etc. things make most of the cost of voice acting. And only time when wages of the voice actors are higher than other cost what goes into voicing characters is when publisher/studio uses multiple high profile actors to add public intrest toward game. -
The Chosen One

Mass Effect's campaing starting cinema Anderson and Udina decide that Shepard is best candinate to be first human spectre and that is the reason why Shepard goes to Eden Prime in first place. But Shepard's promotion to spectre is put on hold because of the events on Eden Prime. And then Shepard must so that s/he is right about Saren's involvement on Eden Prime, when as apology Citadel council make Shepard a first human spectre and task him/her to hunt Saren down. So in my eyes Shepard fullfits choosen one characters requirements. -
[Merged] Durability
Elerond replied to Audron's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I like idea that weapons can broke down in middle of battle. An also like idea that unkempt weapons get rusty or otherwise weaken, which increase their change to broke down and lowers their damage. But I don't like idea that I must micromanager that my party keep their weapons in good condition. So if durability system is added to game then I would like if my party keep their weapons in good condition automaticaly given that they carry soapstones, oils, ect. items that they can use to that task. And if your weapon brokes in middle of battle by bad luck, then you must go to weapon smith, bowyer or some else who has skill to repair your weapon. -
Romances, yay or nay?
Elerond replied to Gorth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
My opinion that romance is good narrative tool for writers. This don't mean that I want over clued erotic counters with my companions as so many seems to perceive romances (and this for sorry to all seems to some cases includes some professional romance writers and publishers). But for example Shandra in NWN2, you PC can flirt with her and in that point of story where Shandra and your PC start to express deeper feelings to each other, game's main plot dictate that Shandra dies. In my opinion that was pretty effective narrative use of romance (which would have been much better if Shandra hasn't been so whiny most of the time that you almost cheered when she died ). But still there is reason why Rome and Julia is still refered one of the best romantic stories, even that nobody there is no sex and everybody dies in end. And in Baldur's Gate 2 best part of companion romance stories was when Bodhi kidnaps your love interest and turn her/him to partial vampire. That was just right kind of dramatic effect that causes my character to enrage and run after her without any backup.- 231 replies

Children
Elerond replied to kmelt93's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
In our culture adults see that their duty is to protect children, so all crimes against children are viewed as level or two higher than same crime against adults. An from this culture perspective has risen view point which advocate politic that entertaiment media should not show crimes against children.- 117 replies

Tropes vs Women
Elerond replied to Qorem's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But, what if I want SOME women to be like the one above (not nude, but sexually alluring). It IS a fantasy setting so that we can play out our fantasies. Not all obviously, but some would be cool. The only issue I really have about the second one is that the clothes just look ugly. Maybe right answer is somewhere middle of those two pictures (über male-fantasy and reality)? Or it least little bit closer. -

I think treating women's issues with respect means that women look less like this and more like this -

I think reson for most of criticism comes from that view point that Katarina's outfit is very inpractical, which only purpose for viewer look to emphasize her assets. Whereas Anjali's human form has pratical looking outfit and her archon form don't radiate nakedness or sexuality like Katarina's outfit, which makes it look surprisingly decent. So they see that Katarina is made as eye-candy for players and Anjali is designed appropriately fit games setting or at least larger part of the critics see it so, I think. -
How about for odd race, moomin. And here some pictures of belligerent moomins by my friend Eero Ylönen from his art show. And those for you who don't know what moomins are. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moomin

I want option regular 'but somewhat special' guy in wrong place in wrong time. -
As if they'd make an official statement. They're likely to continue deflecting it using carefully chosen statements of moderate disregard until suddenly you're holding a non-companion-romanceable game in your hands. You are suggesting that they do normal publisher rutine and only share that information about game that they think will bring more money and only hint of those decision that they feel could cause some backers to drop their support?

Drakensang: The Dark Eye in my opinion has good player house. In works as resting place for you and your companions, and you can storage you loot there, you can craft your paraphernalia there and it is big enough to rise your ego. And it's sequel Drakensang: The River of Time has great player house also, but this time is boat what player uses to go from area to area. But it still has all same functions what house in previous installment had. So if player's house is somewhat similar to those then I would be pretty satisfied, though it's not a stronghold . Other option what I am on favor is player's own inn which works as his or her homebase. In my opinion inn are just perfect and classic place to hear problems of the realms and start adventures. And you have good reason to take greater part of the loot as housing payment .

Experience for Killing Enemies
Elerond replied to Jojobobo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines where you don't get experience from killing your enemies, I played playthroughs when I did kill every enemy and ones where I killed only some and then I played those where I did my best to not kill anybody. And that was great and I mean great gaming experience, IMHO. -
In my vision of my partys combat roles, which are based on given information my party would be something like this: Mage in heavy armour to offer magical support in forms of buffs and attack spells Ranger to give long range support also put in form of arrows. Heavy Fighter in heavy armour other equipment to be tank and stop enemies to attack support team Thief/Assasin/Roque with two hand guns and fast close combat weapon to attack enemy support team especially mages. Healer if there is one to keep party alive with buffs and healing spells/salves/etc.. Fast warrior whose role changes depending of enemy. If there is lots of enemy support then he/she goes to help rouque to deal them, if there is lots of heavy melee fighters s/he helps heavy fighter to deal them or if there is enemy roques/etc. who try to strike on your support then s/he goes to help them. Healer could also be bard or some other who can buff my party.

I did not miss Ultimas but some reason I did not fancy about them. (But that didn't stop me to buy them from GOG, same goes for Underworlds) My brother in other hand is big ultima fan. And The Bard's Tale in list is that 2004 version not orginal, which I never had luxury to play.
