  1. But how many people know that dumping constitution on your main character will close some stuff in game from you? Not anything important but maybe somewhat nice stuff depending on which kind character you are playing.
  2. That is one of the questions which the game asks, do it matter that gods are artificial or not. It is question that drives major conflicts in the game's story, game don't have ultimate answer to this question, but it show arguments from both sides and lets player decide what their character thinks about it, but anything that PC decides to believe don't at least matter on fact that most of Eora is oblivious towards this question. And companion all decide themselves with some impact from PC how they see the subject. For example to Edér it can mean that his belief towards Eothas (or at least things that Eothas stands for) becomes greater and he becomes sort of preacher and leader for him.

  4. I can't support that statement. They sold this game on being the best of the IE games. Explicitly, terms of combat, PoE is supposed to be like Icewind Dale. Combat in PoE is only superficially like Icewind Dale. When dealing with things like class design, soft-counter philosophy, engagement, spell design, item usage, combat states, etc.....combat is nothing like Icewind Dale, let alone the IE game that people were actually clamoring for. This is how Obsidian described PoE in Kickstarter: "Project Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment. It seem that reviewer don't have very good understanding how attributes effect characters and gameplay which maybe because their perspective to issue is very narrow and focused on only certain aspects of gameplay and only certain way to do things. So I would say that it makes their critique about attributes bit blindsided and in my opinion not worthwhile.

I probably have forgotten some but maybe they aren't that good as I can remember them. I don't have any elitist likes and dislikes, but I prefer RPGs using isometric viewpoint over those that don't, but it isn't prerequisite for me to like the game.
  8. It means that weapon damage is (weapon's base damage) * (sum of all damage multipliers) So for example you do critical hit against enemy with you fine sword your damage would be 11-16 * (1+ 0.15+ 0.5) = 18.15 - 26.4

  10. By the way, I went in for the $250 pledge, because I believed in them and thought that this was to be an instant classic. I do love the game and currently around 1/2 of the way through. I stop and read all lore and savor every minute of the game - no rushing here. To my shock and disappointment, besides all the collectors edition goodies, the actual signed part is nothing more than a sleeve that wraps around the CE box. The signatures themselves are not real. They are copies. I'll go back to check to see how many pledges were made at this level and higher to see if it was realistic to make a real signature, but I was under the impression were would get real honest signatures of the type people get at book signings. If I had known this, I would have selected the unsigned CE version. The last vid of them signing the box cover/sleeves does in fact look like what I have, but for the life of me it does not look like someone took a marker and signed it and passed it around. To me it looks likes a copy since the signatures are part of the box. I'm not a signature expert but it sure looks like a mass copy of the same signatures. I could not scratch off the ink. I'm not going to make a big deal of this, but I do have a slight regret getting the signed version. Here is picture of my box, do your box look anyway copy of it? Permanent marker leaves marks that become quite permanent part of paper or board which it is used, so it would be quite difficult to scratch it off without damaging paper or board, because it actually absorbs itself in the material.

  13. Gods have kept Iovara souls off the cycle thousands of years, which make my character think that there is probably reason why they would go in such extremes to keep one soul to be locked away. But anyway your character can not believe what Iovara says, although if you select those more polite responses you probably end to agree with her. Premade companions believe her to degree, but that is probably because they all have their problems with faith and how gods act. And it should be taken account that you are watcher with awakened souls and you ended to believe her in your past life after your past life self confronted Thaos in Woedicas machines room. And those watcher whose souls are awakened have hard time not to let their past life(s) take over. So your easy acceptance of Iovara's words may also be counted to your past life instead of the person who your character is now. But I agree that Iovara's writing don't necessary show well her charisma and conviction that make people follow her and leave gods whose power and ability influence the world is undeniable (as even Iovara herself says). Her writing don't necessary portrayal her as such charismatic leader who gets people follow her just with her words and conviction that she is in right. But your companions at least react her words like see is such charismatic leader.
  14. Stronghold quest that give XP bonus give you XP bonus for all the XP that you receive during it (or at least it seems to do so) and then kill wildlife, open locks, disarm traps and do high xp quest to forward stronghold turns, and you will get quite much extra XP.
  15. Earlygame pallys are indeed quite good, since when your priest has like 5 spells per rest auras do not look bad at all. Their support doesn't scale into the lategame at all though (while their tankyness does quite admirably well). As for "packing a punch" I'm having hard time naming a class with lower damage potential than paladin (but probably that's ok). Paladins have OK accuracy, only fighters, rogues, rangers and monks have higher, and paladins get flames of devotion in level 1 and zealous focus on level 3, which make them quite able to give punch in early game, but in mid game they start to lose it and in end game they start to stay behind, but they can still do decent amount damage if they can fulfill other roles in party like support-tanking, so if their support capabilities are boosted then they would find easier their place in end game parties, as then they would be ok in support ok in tanking and not useless in dps.
  16. Paladin's end game in my opinion could benefit from boost, early game they are one of the strongest classes in my opinion. They can take punch, they can give punch and their auras give nice bonuses. In end game they can take punch, they still can give punch, but not as fine as in early game, their auras are still good, but they are far from what other support classes offer and their exhortations are low in numbers and not necessary strong enough. Like for example Chanter gets The Silver Knights' Shields Broke Both Arrow and Blade in level 9, it gives +10 deflection to everybody in the chant area, Paladin gets Reinforcing Exhortation, which is single target 2x per encounter +15 deflection buff for 20 seconds. Paladin can give bonus bit faster than what chanter can, but chanter's bonus comes from passive aura that gives bonus to themselves also, where paladin's comes from active ability that can't be used to themselves. So in my opinion paladin's exhortation should be much stronger than Chanter's phrase, like for example it should give +20 or even +30 to deflection (because then it would give better bonus than priest's Shields for the Faithful which is friendly AoE that give +25 deflection for 30 seconds, which priest get their hands on on level 9, although they can cast in only twice per rest, but as mentioned it is AoE) for 30 to 60 seconds. I also think that Hastening Exhortation should be once per encounter ability, instead of 3 per rest as it now, because it is 11th level ability, so even though 1.2x attack speed is quite good it isn't that powerful anymore in that level especially when it is single target ability. I also think that paladins should get 10th or 12th level talent option that gives them ability have two aura's at same time. And I think that they should get couple more exhortations where they can choose from so that they get bit more flexibility in how they can support party.

Conditional calls seem to be phrased same as all other conditional calls in the meeting, although first one is only one that checks two attributes.

Spells that target only enemies say that their effect in foe target, Foe aoe,etc., spells that target only allies say friendly target, friendly aoe, etc. Spells that target both say AoE or Target, etc. AoE, Spells that target both have two indicators of area that they will effect (if you haven't turned such off from options or chosen expert mode), where red shows area that effect both and yellow/white shows area that only effects foes (this foe only area is determined by your character's intellect, and it isn't shown if your intellect is lower than 11).
  19. Dude. The guy You can already choose to kill either, neither or both of them. Is that not enough choice? Why would you need an option to pat the guy on the back for what he did. Role-playing. Maybe my character has no problem with it and would have done the same in similar circumstances? Waidwen's Legacy seems pretty serious, after all. What Waidwen's legacy has to do with the case? It is not like is only elf women in world, it is more question about his egoistic world view and need to keep it . Of course your character still can accept his actions, but don't kid anyone that there is some seemingly rational moral justifications for his actions even in world of Eora
  20. When I read Lord Harold's stringtable file (00_cv_lord_harold.stringtable ID 263) I spotted this bit of strangeness there. <DefaultText>His guard leans in. "My lord, this is a man of books-"</FemaleText> I am not sure if it is purposeful that female scholar/philosopher is called "a man of books" or not, but it seem strange that there is FemaleText string which is same as the default string. Because I would expect that there would be at least some difference in alternative version of the line when such is used, which is why guess that there has been plan to use phrase "My lord, this is a woman of books-" instead of current one, or that there has been some alternate version before and which was edited and now there is just duplicate of original as alternative. So not big issue if it is issue in first place, but I though I would note you about it anyway.

Watchers possess the mental fortitude to access the soul-memory of others—extending sometimes several lives into the past—and often either lend assistance in crises of the self or use such crises to their own advantage. They can also unlock latent personalities, and interpret the seemingly indecipherable meaning of visions glimpsed from Beyond. Lost souls, who otherwise navigate the world in blindness, see Watchers as beacons of light and hope. Among Watchers, it is common for souls to trail in their wake like an ethereal caravan. Awakening is a frequent hazard among Watchers. Because of their attunement to the ethereal realm, deep and vivid consciousness of their own souls is often inadvertently triggered, and it is not uncommon for the Watcher to project such powerful visions into the real world as visible manifestations. As a consequence, elaborate delusions have been known to coalesce and drive Watchers to madhouses or even early graves." From which we can see that being watcher is not bad thing, but being watcher that has been awakened is hazardous and as freak accident that make PC watcher and event that awakened PC happened same time is the root of PCs problems.   22. Why they both become so boring at end that you regret that you started to watch them in first place, but you must praise them or you lose your cool nerd hat or something. For real I liked Star Trek Original Series somewhat, but it was far from my favorite, Next Generation was full of ups and downs and Beginning of Deep Space Nine was just awful and I stopped watching Star Trek tv-shows entirely after 4 episodes of it (So I haven't ever watched Voyager). I liked quite lot of Game of Thrones first season, but mostly because I had not seen high production fantasy series in TV for long time, but in middle point of second season I just could not any more bear its plot and extensive focus on gore that don't look or feel realistic to me. For the books I liked story quite lot, but I started to lose my interest in end of fourth and wholly lose it about mid point of fifth.

Critique of product has quite little matter for people that already like product in form it is and when somebody wants to change product that they like they usually are very conservative towards those propositions. So if it matter to you what those who like product thinks about critique you need to do better job in convincing them that changes proposed would make product better for them.
  24. Because they think that maybe they don't understand the game yet. They think they'll come to understand and then appreciate the mechanics if they just play it enough. Truth is, sometimes that does happen. That was the case with me when I play BG for the first time. I hated the game at first, but I heard it was great from reliable sources so I stuck with it. It wasn't until about 20 hours into my play through that I actually began to enjoy myself. Today, it's one of my favorite games of all time. I can see reason behind, your decision to continue, even though I wouldn't do same myself, but when it comes to playing over 100 hours of the game without finding it become enjoyable I would start to question persons sanity. But maybe I speak from place of privilege as I have been always able to own lots of games, so playing ones that i don't find enjoyable after couple hours of getting familiar with mechanics seems so not worthwhile thing to do.
