  1. There are a lot of games these days with this type of thing, just not so much in the top down RTWP RPG vein . Personally I could take it or leave it in this kind of game, I don't feel like it particularly adds anything unless you use it as a tool to achieve some kind of dramatic effect.
  2. Ok mods I think this is a clear sign this thread has run it's course. Even Durance wouldn't inflict this craziness on us.
  3. Not sure it is quite as bad as you make it sound Luckmann, but the game definitely was not made to be modder friendly. I do however totally agree about the "modders will fix that" mindset. Going forward games are likely to be less and less mod friendly, not more.
  4. Concur. I would actually really like to see a pathfinder RPG because I have very little experience with that world. By the time it was getting popular my work life and schedule made it pretty much impossible for me to do table top anymore.
  5. So all he is saying is they are done, minus maybe a patch or two, with Eternity 1. He all but said, "yes there will be a sequel".
  6. Probably just a bug, I would post it in the bug forum and then you will at least know the devs will see it one way or the other.
  7. I think you are fine at this point. There will be at least 1 more patch, maybe a second and third after that. However they are just going to be bug fixes and slightly balance tweaks. There won't be anymore major overhauls, mechanics changes, or new skills from here on out.
  8. While not a bad idea I think the right move would be to do that with a new franchise. Once you have made a game in a series to completely upend it's gameplay and mechanics on the next release is not something most would call a good idea. Some games have done it, like Fallout, but you are talking years between releases. Also the (gasp) Final Fantasy games have done it as well but it was gradual slight changes that built up over 10+ releases. For Eternity I wouldn't mind refinements, just don't rock the boat too much.
  9. Don't take this the wrong way but people who resort to calling other peoples arguments "strawmen" might as well be saying "I can't refute what you are saying so I will insult you instead". If you want to agree to disagree and leave it at that, then that is fine by me, but leave the insults out of it.
  10. What you are describing is not a psycho, it is a sociopath. A sociopath is a person who simply has no moral values or conscious. They can walk up to a guy selling hot dogs on the street with no money, ask for a hot dog, then pull a knife and kill the hot dog vendor when they refuse to sell them one, or just wait tell he isn't looking and steal one more likely. Either way they won't feel bad, they didn't have money sure, but they wanted a hot dog anyway. Durance is very much a sociopath, you ask him why he killed tons of women, children, etc etc just because he "thought" they were Eothasians he will spew some might makes right, the ends justify the means, Eothas caused the stillborn (he knows this is highly unlikely) BS. Sociopaths need to justify their actions, Durance repeatedly tries to justify his. He isn't a Wicht, he knows exactly what he is doing. Also I would scale back the liberal agenda CEO nonsense. Or do you think Obama is a sociopath because he has ordered actions that has caused the deaths of hundreds yet can still sleep at night? Also for all the smelling like roses comments high powered corporate america executives on the grass roots level are hated and distrusted by most people so yeah. Just don't confuse "I made a cost benefit analysis that cost 5 thousand people their jobs but improved company productivity and long term viability/health" with "I knifed a guy in an alley because I wanted to make a play for his girlfriend" They REALLY aren't the same thing.
  11. So you think Durance isn't culpable? You think because his soul is damaged that he has lost all free will? Okay, well the game makes it painfully obvious that he has not lost free will and he very much so understands everything he is doing. He just doesn't care about the moral context and feels "I am in the right so it doesn't matter". So yeah, evil, sorry.
  12. Guys this was supposed to be a thread about how much you liked Eternity, not how much you don't like bethesda. Get over it please, it has corrupted enough of this forums topics.
  13. It is that way because no it wasn't that rare for the "lords" home to be separate from the main keep, but also it gives an easy add on expansion thingy for the keep. Also Dream, it is too bad for you. I hired a stone mason last week to replace the old throne. Sitting in it was a pain as it made so many of those annoying chair noises you know.
  14. I am pretty sure you can be both at the same time. Being insane is not a pack of mentos, you don't get to say "sorry", shrug, then everyone laughs and it is all okay.
  15. No, it really doesn't.A double a game then? A single a? Honestly, the game was good enough for an a to be involved here . Maybe an A for effort . Seriously though, the graphics of Eternity are very solid for the budget and look great. They serve their purpose admirably and it is not an ugly game by any stretch. But Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid 5, Call of Duty: Whatever the name of this years entry is, Fallout 4, those are "triple A" budget games and they objectively and literally have far more complex, detailed, and depending on your mind set beautiful graphics than Eternity.
  16. I am still waiting to hear the part where you guys explain how this makes it so his actions aren't reprehensible, he is somehow not morally bankrupt, and is redeemable in some way. In fact the way you guys phrase it he is basically a dog with rabies and the only option now is to put the poor bugger down.
  17. I am pretty meh on the game myself Bryy but not because of the graphics or comedy. It has a broke ass challenge curve that goes from "how you like that stick up your cornhole matey!" to "please PC don't kill me". Games shouldn't be drastically easier the farther you get in them, that was a criticism of Eternity but Divinity OS is twice as bad about it. That isn't a huge shocker though cause Larian has that problem in a lot of games. The story also fell completely flat after leaving Cyseal and just wasn't particularly engaging. The "two players" aspect was also a completely wasted feature unless you really did play the whole game co op. The only thing truly "stand out" about the game was the neat combat system and options. Too bad the broken challenge curve either made combat an unfun slog you had to cheese, or an easy joke where all the options no longer matters. It was only at a "sweet spot" for about half of chapter 1.
  18. AOD isn't even a good game. I can see why some people like it, but most people who play video games, even RPG's, would not enjoy it very much at all. I tried to play it, found out it kinda sucks and isn't particularly fun to play or heavy on interesting story. It is a game made by die hard CRPG's should be hard and not much else fans for other die hard CRPG's should be hard and not much else fans. If you aren't one of them there is nothing to see. No, it really doesn't. Underrail I haven't played yet but it at least looks like it has some potential. Staglands I have heard a lot of mixed bag about.
  19. What? Lol you used him in your party right? There are many times he speaks out against things you do in multiple quests if they don't fall specifically in line with what he wants.
  20. Okay Dr. Phil. Unfortunately that place that was supposed to be your in game version of a psych ward was shown clearly to be sloppy science that achieved little to no results or at best vegged people in his condition. Likewise "a damaged soul" is just a symptom, technically the watcher has a "damaged soul". Yet you probably didn't go around killing people for thin reasons just because you enjoyed it. You also have no clue what he was like before the bomb, there is no evidence he was any less of a looney tune, and like I said, even if he was, he is judged based on what he does now not 5 years ago. Everyones soul also takes damage over time, yet no one is trying to say we shouldn't blame Raedric it is just his damaged soul!!!! No, Durance isn't a snowflake, he is no less disreputable, misguided, and worthy of revulsion that any of the other villains in the game. The only difference is he decides to fight on your team and bitch really loudly whenever you aren't a jerk to everyone.
  21. Eternity is a great game, but it is not the best game of 2015.
  22. Triple worse when you are actively trying to screw your boss over, your boss who is supposedly giving you orders won't actually talk to you, and you take personal joy from the things you are doing. Like torturing innocent town folk just because they (maybe, could be) worship Eothas (you think, probably).
  23. Doesn't matter what he was like before, he is in my party now not 5 years ago. Also lots of evil people in this world thought they were doing the "right thing". There isn't a saying "The road to hell is paved in good intentions" because doing what you think is right is always a good idea or morally sound.
  24. Not really. Eder was not a clergyman, he was not some officer of the faith, he was just some guy that happened to worship Eothas and felt Waidwen was a a false prophet. If anything he remained true to his faith at the time because again, he thought Waidwen was a false prophet. PS: There is still no REAL evidence to suggest he wasn't either. Durance and Devil are very much evil characters. It isn't even because of their actions it is because of their attitudes. Durance for example hates people, he thinks violence is a reasonable way to get what he wants in basically any situation, he seems no problem with insulting and belittling anyone and everyone, he even hates his own allies and consistently tries to undermine members of his own faith. If he could he would pretty much destroy society and be happy about it because he thinks that is what people deserve. He is self centered, arrogant, has no empathy, and potentially no moral compass. Those are all real life descriptors of sociopaths by the way. He is evil as hell.
