At this point before we proceed I would like to hear at least some general answers to what Osvir posted above. There were backer tiers where you get to help design what I assume is a small island at the same price point. This seems to be "you get to help create a one off minor encounter and have some input on what the ship looks like". It just doesn't feel very compelling compared to the other 5k tiers, and does seem very similar to the Adventuring parties of Eternity 1. All but one of which turned into simple bounty missions where the adventurers had no dialog, and were not particularly memorable.

Yeah WTF o_O Aren't Karkarov's the default? They're *WAY* better than those. I re-downloaded and checked yesterday. All the original texture files bundled with the mod are still there, but not the default anymore. Really annoying considering the new default is pretty terrible. I looks like whoever did the "rock bar" mod just edited the IE Mod and forced his textures to be the defaults.

Pretty sure one of them is Eder, in the images they first released for him he was called "Adair" (sorry Edair ) and his hair was a lot longer and he had a more traditional fighter look. The lady with the rifle is a priest of Magran named Cadegund. She was ultimately cut, and replaced with Durance. In theory she was still in the game somewhere as a Magran follower, I think supposedly the one at the main temple in Defiance Bay, but I could be wrong. Whip wise you are going to have to link the pic. I don't remember anyone ever being shown using a whip, and Sagani showed up really early in concept art and always looked like she does in game. Her look/concept was one of the few that never changed from start to finish. Edit: if you mean the bridge fight picture, yeah, that is Sagani they just changed her hair. But she is using a bow in that picture, not a whip?

Exactly. All they need to reach the vast majority of their audience is GoG and Steam. Both of those services will be happy to work with Obsidian directly. Unless you are doing a physical release, or releasing for consoles which requires that physical release, you don't really need a huge amount of publishing power behind you. Advertising may be more of a challenge, that we will have to wait and see. Also remember, a big part of Fig's schtick is that they help you publish and allow people to "buy shares" of the game.

Yeah, what is really interesting about Eder is that not only did he go through a name change (originally Adair), but he was intended to be a rogue. The only reason he ended up as a Fighter was because Eternity is very tank focused, and Obsidian was worried the player would not have a tank early game. So to be sure the Player would have a tank if desired without having to make one themselves, or rely on mercs, they changed Eder to Fighter.

I just want to address this real fast. I think your concerns are considerably similar to many of ours. I have no intention of seriously suggesting a pirate ship of union workers with tommy guns, and I am not interested in putting Kaptain Karkarov in game. While I will be happy to support a more tongue in cheek encounter, I have no interest in supporting something that is not fun and memorable for the normal player, without also being lore friendly and consistent with Eora. I want it to have a positive impact on the game, an encounter that players enjoy, and I want it to be seemless. I don't people to play it and say "Oh this is that "backer" pirate ship" then snicker. I want to fit so well they don't even realize it was backer content. The problem is our ability to accomplish that relies heavily on Obsidian's restrictions, not on our creativity.

Also I think it comes down a lot to what these "options" really are. If all we get is "you can pick one of these 4 ship models" and it ends up just being some random mook combat encounter that really isn't that compelling to me. If it turns out we can turn it into some political intrique where the encounter only happens if you have Pallegina, and the "pirates" are elite government agents sent by one of the Vailian republics, or maybe some shady group hunting the Watcher for past transgressions. Or it gets tied to some side quest about a ghost ship... Something where there can be some lore behind it, that's cool. I really didn't like the "adventuring parties" from the backers in Eternity because they just turned out to be semi fun/challenging combat puzzles. Majority of them had no real lore behind them, they didn't even talk, they were just there to be killed and looted. That just doesn't feel worth the effort or investment.

To be honest I read that less as "6 crew members" and more as "6 combat entities that maybe get to talk". I mean could one of them in theory be a galactic space pig (hey it's in game in Eternity don't look at me), or a golem, or a pet dragon? Maybe, but we don't know for sure. But yes, if I do this I would be thinking X amount of money gets you the right to vote and make suggestions, Y amount either gets you more voting power, Z amount maybe lets you create one of the crew (as long as it fits with the whole concept), etc. I don't think I would break it down so severely it becomes this guy names Pirate 3, this person gets to decide their class, another guy gets to choose their gear, this other backer gets to choose their race. That's a little too much design by committee I think.

Okay so let's say 6 crew members. Okay. Do we have input on their gear? Like can one of them be using a special weapon like from the 750 "create an item" tier? What sort of options are the "ship" options? Can the hull be made out of an adra dragon skull? Can I have a octopus in a giant bowl? Or is it more like "you can make the ship out of red wood or tan wood"? One big question I have, because it may matter for "comedy" effect if people want that route, can you have multiple encounters? Like they show up early game at low level, but strangely show up later stronger, and near the end show up high level for "revenge"?

The one and only (number /1): IEModEdit: ok, and this one: Wooden HUD Textures Lol wood textures. I may go butcher that one just to get my UI without all the other IE mod stuff. No wait it is just a texture trying to piggy back IE mod. Life sucks. Now that I am playing eternity again, and now 4k, maybe I should try to fix it so 4k works.... as I recall Eternity won't let you do over 1080 textures though... no...not again.... STAHPPPPP

I have made an inquiry along this line That said, I expect it will be similar to the Inn's from POE 1. Which frankly allowed for a lot of backer agency. Look at the inn done by the RPG Codex. It had it's own item shop, a silly RPG Codex ring you had to buy, a brothel, etc etc. It was clear they had quite a bit of input on what went in there. EDIT: I am pretty much concurring with Fluffle. Depending on what the response is from Aarik D I may be upping my pledge to the ship today.

Uh no, absolutely not. I have no intention of backing for something this expensive, that may cost 100's of dollars per person, and then just saying "do what you want obsidian!" If no one backs a pirate crew don't kid yourself, Obsidian is not going to just say "oh well best go two crews light or no random pirates at all" they will just make it up themselves. You would literally be paying them 5k, or this weird 3k they will not agree to but you will have no proof had any impact, for the privilege of debating what to do with the physical goods/digital keys.
