I think controlling 12 "units" would be a disaster with the current pathing system, unless you treat it as a real-time strategy combat thing where you just mob everything. That said, other than healing, I completed the game with no real magic/chanter/cipher users. So it should work just fine in that sense.

Obsidian, this was really, really cool. Thanks for showing us how all of this game production stuff works. Blood, sweat, tears and Feargus. I'm glad you "get it" with RPGs, and I'm proud to have been a small part of this thing (the Forgiveness pistol!). As a 40-year old gamer, the BG/NWN games were huge escapes for me years ago, and my pledge was a dreamcast. I figured if PE came close to capturing that magic again, it was worth it. You captured lighting in a bottle.

Has anyone come up with a fix for this? AS mentioned, it's getting worse for me as well.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one playing a melee ranger. High dex/might w/12 con, and I avoid selecting the ranged-only abilities to instead focus on my pet, or melee-focused perks when offered. It really isn't that hard to make a hybrid fighter/ranger this way for DPS in this system. I'm quite happy after trying several other classes, and it's the character I decided to continue with. I dual-wield and switch to pistol when needed. I'd go so far as to call it an off-tank build as she's very survivable on the front line. Also my primary trap/chest person, so she fills several rolls.

Hi there, I'm trying to find a way to print a picture of the pistol "Forgiveness" which was my KS unique item. I'm making a shadow box with several of the CE items, Avellone's troll, etc and I'd like to include a high-res image of Forgiveness in addition. I've found the file, but obviously cannot open it outside of the game, and a print-screen just doesn't cut it. Any ideas? Also, a personal Thanks to whomever the writer was who helped with the description!

Anyway, in one of the gameplay videos Josh talks about a slow-combat option that they already have. 1/3rd speed, was it? They just haven't really showed it being used, as far as I know.

As someone who contributed a substantial amount to PE, I have mixed feelings toward any further Kickstarted Obsidian projects-- especially with regard to any Pillars sequel. Obsidian is one of the few companies I trust to give me a stellar gaming experience, so I was more than eager to support a new intellectual property for them that may or may not have succeeded via the normal free market system. I really look forward to seeing what they've come up with and needless to say, it's been difficult not to sneak a peek at the beta. While I'm sure they will never disclose their figures (they are under no obligation to), I have no doubt that Obsidian has used their own funds in some way for this project, based on what we've seen along with the extended development time. Factoring in early reviews along with gauging "hype" from various sources, I'm fairly certain Pillars will experience relative commercial success-- relative for a game of this size/budget/niche. I'm confident Obsidian will make back the funds they've invested in addition to what was pledged via KS and likely will make enough to support any expansion and/or sequel. While I will almost certainly purchase Obsidian's future games, I have no intention of pre-funding any further projects. I consider Kickstarter just that-- a kick start. After that, the 'engine' is supposed to run itself. I have experienced both the successes and failures of projects I've Kickstarted (JA: Flashback, for instance) and I've concluded that you need more than just a good idea to be successful. You need knowledge and infrastructure to make it happen. Obsidian was the perfect candidate for a large KS donation, and this should kick start them for years to come. They should be able to manage just fine on their own from here on out. They're certainly entitled to have another go at Kickstarter, but I would take issue with a company that can manage on their own returning to ask us to take the 'burden of risk' from them a second time. I'm sure others disagree, but that's the way I see it.

'49'ers guy' apparently doesn't know A) his team didn't make the playoffs B) their coach quit C) Montana is selling life insurance. That slap of reality only seems to add to the awkwardness of this meeting vid. You can cut the fear with a knife in that room. In other news, I'm very excited to see the game coming together. (Go Packers!)

Glad it's delayed. Also glad I didn't even try to play the beta...
