  1. BAdler, will the 5 keys I get at my pledge level also include access to the first expansion, or do I just get 1 of those keys when the expansion is avail?
  2. So... Am I still able to get a troll portrait at my pledge level? I figured I'd let the dust settle and Avellone's hands uncramp before asking.
  3. Don't mean to bump an old thread, but I have an applicable question... At my pledge level I'm given 5 downloads, but in addition I'm given the future expansion free. Does this apply to all 5 of the downloads?
  4. The topic specifically asked what people thought of the beta and people are being honest. That doesn't mean they didn't expect some things to be that bad. Some stuff is really bad, maybe that's to be expected in a beta but there's no point beating around the bush about it I get that... But someone has already implied that, based on what they see in this beta, they want their money back. There's a difference between 'thoughts' and 'judgment'. There will always be folks who are disappointed, but c'mon...
  5. It boggles the mind that some folks haven't figured out that beta is... beta. - an unpolished, non-optimized, feature-incomplete, bug-filled first look. That's it. It's basically a moving screenshot when compared to the final product. These rash judgments I see time and again on game forums make me wonder why companies allow buy-in beta participation (without NDA's) in the first place. Bottom line: relax, Chicken Little.
  6. I'm fairly sure nothing, visually/graphically, has been optimized... really at all. I'd imagine it's one of the last things they do before release. So rest easy, mate.
  7. There's no main story content in the PoE beta. Just a few unrelated quests. Unless spending time with the character creator is going to ruin things for you, I'd say you're safe. Though you might as well wait until they patch a few of the major bugs at this point. Pretty much any town exploration at all would be a spoiler for me. If it were just random wilderness areas, maybe I'd play a few minutes, but...
  8. I'm on the fence on whether to even play the beta. I've got it downloaded, but I just don't want to spoil anything. I learned that the hard way with Wasteland 2, which I don't even care to replay upon release now. Plus, I'm still grinding through Original Sin...
  9. The cool thing is that, despite the hype surrounding Divinity: OS, you continue to hear from reviewers that it's a solid play until PE comes out. It seems our little Pillars here is the gold standard of kickstarted RPGs and folks just can't get enough of it.
  10. I'd like to see how that turns out as well. I'm willing to bet it won't work at all as such. The enemy will rush in and shred your hairy pistoleros. Challenge accepted.
  11. What resolution are you playing Divinity: Origins at? It's been mentioned a bunch of times on the Steam forum from diff users, but the in-game options menu dropdown for resolution is completely blank unless you're running at 60hz (or apparently 120 in your case). You are then stuck on default resolution, which sucks on a 1440p monitor. I've got an Overlord LED, GTX670 w/custom refresh rate via Nvidia Control Panel, which is Windows friendly, so there really should be no problem. Either way, it's the only game I've played that's had the issue, so I don't think it's my PC. As a side note, Wasteland 2 has been running just fine... And it's still in beta.
  12. I will let you know how my pistol-packing, Barbarian-exclusive run goes. If that works, anything will work.
  13. That's why Obsidian should release this game in segments... 1 "Pillar" at a time. For "Eternity". It's a proven formula now, apparently.
  14. Divinity: Original Sin was just released, and will not allow anything other than 60hz. I have to set my 96hz (120hz capable) 1440p monitor to 60hz via Nvidia Control Panel to play it, which is disappointing. I realize it's a KS game, but there's really no reason it can't recognize Windows/Nvidia Control Panel settings. Anyone know if this is going to be a problem with PE?
  15. I'm sure there might be a trademark hurdle to making our own Obsidian/PE hoodies, which is why it's important for Obsidian to take the merchandising hint I'm trying to offer here. I can envision the iron hand of Obsidian hunting us all down in our blackmarket hoodies like wolves to sheep.
  16. "This baby's made of puuure intern skin."
  17. So I just watched a Josh interview with Gamereactor, and noticed he was wearing a pretty cool Obsidian hoodie. So I go to Obsidian's site and discover they don't have a merchandise area... What?! My Mass Effect hoodie has been going strong for like 4 years now, but it's time for a change. Where did Josh get his?
  18. ... did you even read this thread? E3 = Disneyland. If not better.
  19. Naw it's too bad. It's nearly impossible to get to Comic Con San Diego, but at least the average non-affiliated-with-anything Joe has a .004% chance at getting a ticket. But with E3, you basically have to be a member of the industry/media/connected/G-string model. Even though it's probably the coolest convention ever.
  20. There real question here is: Why in the hell can't *I* go to E3?
  21. My item is named "Forgiveness". That is all I will share. Though I don't remember seeing/reading any NDA about it.
  22. My theory is that the original KS fund request was to do a pet-project of small scale for hardcore RPG fans of old to enjoy. But... when the campaign exploded and funds kept coming in, Obsidian figured out that there would likely be a strong retail market as well, with more profit likely. That said, I would be really surprised if Obsidian didn't kick in a few extra dollars-- beyond what was even taken in by the KS campaign-- to do a bigger game that would be marketable to a wider audience while still fulfilling stretch goals, appealing the original backers, etc. The 'slacker backer' funds, therefore, help recover some of that money and also help pay for their new publisher arrangement, as they obviously need to get paid as well.
  23. I think some of you are misinterpreting this whole Kickstarter thing... We gave them money with the hope that they would make a game we want, and despite the expectation that we would eventually get a game, there really is no consequence (other than loss of trust) or recourse if that game is never finished or if stretch goals are not obtained. Backers take a risk every time they back something, and so far things have been going well for the "major" game projects. KS remains in its honeymoon phase as a result, for now... As for actual numbers on what's being spent where, that's really none of our business. (*shrugs*) I have raised some eyebrows at a few projects I've backed (suddenly moving into new shiny offices right after KS, for instance) but we have no control over how they allocate their money. I'm more curious how the fanbase will react if PE retail sales do as well as anticipated yet Obsidian comes back for another Kickstarter.
