The $4.0m Stretch Goal - Enhancing the Whole Game
Chaos Theory replied to 600lbpanther's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I'm pretty sure everything over 3.5 mil went to pizza, some AI in Cozumel and an official Obsidian party wagon-- probably some vintage VW bus with a big picture of Feargus on the front. He's always "coming atcha".

Another Icewind Dale kickstarter?
I know not everyone is a fan of the Forgotten Realms stuff, but I am and I'd love to see more games now that the legal issues with the license are over and there's obviously demand for similar RPGs. Would prefer a Baldur's Gate sequel, followed by a 'real' Neverwinter Nights before IWD.

PoE at GDC 2014?
WoW clones are dying. F2P tank games are alive and well. Yeah I suppose that is true.

PoE at GDC 2014?
I thought MMOs were dying? People still care about them?

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
Debating my Bat boomerang is pointless and I expect it implemented already. Dammit, you too? Well this is awkward...

Has any work started on the expansion yet?
Chaos Theory replied to MoldyCheese's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think they have all been reassigned to... Tanks. It's a natural segue.

Where is everyone from
I'm inclined to believe that, actually...

Where is everyone from
Its probably more to do with the fact that you Ozzies don't have decent Internet penetration in the Outback or your citizens are busy fighting all those dangerous and poisonous snakes, spiders and other lethal creatures that inhabit your fair land ...said the guy from South Africa. Hello? Black Mambas, anyone?? That's some scary **** right there. It's almost as dangerous as Wisconsin. I've seen what happens when you're maimed by a cow. You ever see that? Horrible. You're walking along and suddenly-- Bam! Cow! Nightmares and therapy follow. Long nights curled into the fetal position, crying...

Chris Avellone PoE Novella
Then CA needs to put the sticky down, say "no" to a few cameras & Kickstarters and get writing. *whip crack*

Chris Avellone PoE Novella
I was sort of hoping we'd have it before the game-- has that been confirmed?

Adam at Work
Chaos Theory replied to Adam Brennecke's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Is a pistol considered a primary weapon in this game, or would that be more of a situational-use weapon? Would you handicap your character too much if you chose skills allowing you the use of both a pistol for ranged, and a melee weapon for CC? Is that even possible?

Where is everyone from
Oddly enough, I dream even more of living in San Diego... The fact that I'm frozen to the pavement, currently, has a way of turning dream into obsession.

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
I would be really surprised if KS backer-created NPCs have more than a line or two of dialogue, meaning your complex character ideas will likely not come across to the player very well with that limited exposure. IMO, if you have reservations about your NPC's place in the world of Eternity, I'd go a different direction considering how little information we're being given to complete these surveys.

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
So... As I understand it from the update: 1) Due date for surveys is March 31 2) All NPCs must be named using an anagram of "Matt Sheets". Copy that. Thetas Stem, at your service.

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
I'm guessing here, but... As they start polishing quest trees, which is probably one of the last things they do, they'll start looking to add the MacGuffins. At that point I'd hope they'd look at the 50 or so items submitted by their admiring fans to see if any of them work well with the specific quest. Perhaps then they'll start contacting folks to see what tweaks should be made to fit the story. The rest of the items I'd imagine will be drops. ...and then those who refuse to tweak their designs will find that PCs will need to dig through <enter creature here> fodder, in-game, to find it.

Difficulty Thoughts: Merchants with Limited Gold & High Level Loot
I would imagine that, with all the modifications/purchases/bling/servants/etc for our "keep", you will need some rapid cash-- and a lot of it. Limiting merchant gold probably won't happen because of that. If I remember correctly, they did a similar thing with NWN2-- they limited items with sporadic vendor inventory resets, but the gold was always available. This made improving your "captain's keep" fairly smooth. However, I am only guessing with regard to PE.

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
Out of curiosity, has anyone received feedback regarding their submitted surveys?

One month without news
I think they are still focused on the backer site and associated survey inundation.

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
After getting zero takers for the cooperative plate armor concept, I have decided to take the prior advice and design a lower-level item.
-
Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
No takers, huh? Too bad... Would have been cool. That's a nice idea. I hope it works out. I'm starting to think that it will be nearly impossible to convince 4 of the 50 or so pledgers who threw a grand at this project to get together in a team instead of designing their own ninja item. Plus, I have no idea who the others are aside from who checks in here... But until I learn of a deadline for this, I'll keep the request open.
