Oh yeah... I forgot about the giant crabs. Those buggers were easy once you found the pieces and forged a unique sword. Flip them over and a couple of strong attacks and their done. haha And while I'm thinking about it, I can't believe PB did not implement swimming in a pirate based game. When someone thinks pirate they think of water, treasure, sunken ships, and tons of islands. The fact that swimming isn't in the game doesn't make sense to me -- pirates can't swim, I guess. What? How? I was never told you could dodge.

A little repetitive but more frustrating if I had to describe it. If I just had the ability to block and dodge, I wouldn't care. You had to dodge in the first Risen and time your attacks. Throwing sand does nothing, kicking them does nothing, and distracting them with a parrot does nothing... it's just frustrating. I haven't tried voodoo yet so I am considering another play-through with the natives. I did enjoy the story and its' characters. And I agree, exploration was good, but I think suffered a bit due to smaller islands... and the loot you find in ruins/caves isn't that great. It still has the PB feel to it -- the farther you get from civilization, the worse it gets. So no qualms there.

Holy ****. Dowloading right now! -
Finished Risen 2 from start to finish. The first two hours of the game was especially frusturating, regarding the combat system. There is NO dodging ability like in the previous Risen title and I was left with nothing to do but mash the attact button or get destroyed by enemies. I especially love how the game tells me it has a combat system. The first combo sequence - left click, left click, left click. Noice. That's basically your primary means of attack against non-human enemies. Now you're told how to parry -- hold right moust botton down -- okay, that's nice to know. Hold on a minitue... you know how to parry now and that's all fine a dandy but the great thing about it is it does not work against enemies without something to parry! Hold down RMB against those little sand devils. What happened? Their attack went through? Is that what you said? Yeah, I know. Now to move on th human enemies: I stress, if you do not hold down the RMB, you're done. There's no easy way to put it. You can't stop another enemies attack. Once they start attacking you, there is no other option -- YOU HAVE TO PARRY. The bright side? Your parry ability is infallible. Only a few attacks will get through... I'm fairly sure it's random on what attacks actually gets through though. Now let's turn our attention to enemies with swords as attacking anyone with a sword is so much fun! You're basically left with holding your parry button UNTIL YOU ARE ABSOLUTLY CERTAIN the enemy isn't going to attack in the next... oh... five seconds. As I said, there is no way to stop attacks. You can't stutter enemies, so as soon as you find that window of opprotunity... take it, and make sure you finish quickly so you go back to holding the RMB because your life depends on that button. They can and will attack you even during your own attacks. I stress once again -- YOU CAN'T STUTTER ENEMIES WITH YOUR ATTACKS. *sigh* I don't like the combat system in this game. Nothing good comes from it. There are guns as well, but there's nothing more to it than aiming and firing your gun. Rinse and repeat. Of course, ocne you level your skills, everything becomes painfully easy. I am disappointed with the game and it most certainly did not live up to my expectations for a sequal. I accepted the jank that came with the first Risen, but wow... Risen 2, c'mon man. For what its' worth there were parts of the game I very much enjoyed.

Planetside 2 now -- it was a little meh-ish until I joined an outfit. I want to try The Walking as well. I watched episode one on youtube and it looks amazing. Great adventure game mechanics and amazing story telling. Hopefully it goes on sale during Christmas, because I really want to play it.

Planetside 2, I guess. Narrowly edging out Torchlight 2.

DAMNIT. I spent $9.99 YESTERDAY on this game and today steam mocks me. ....

Microsoft learning from their mistakes I see. DX10 for Vista worked wonders for them too. . .

Yeah, I read that article before it was edited. This fiasco amuses me greatly; 1) A publication questions what you wrote on twitter, 2) You get jelly and threaten legal action. 3) A massive backlash ensues and you close your twitter account to the public as a result. *sigh* Our game journalists. All this is a shame though -- I don't know who this Robert fellow is but he wrote a great piece. Another one shared his opinion on this today: John Walker.

Still Mount and Blade -- bought it and now I can officially begin my quest to eradicate the Nords!
-
Tried the Mount and Blade demo -- I only had time to play it for about an hour or so and well... I liked it and I'm going to buy it. I haven't played a game that comes even close to what Mount and Blade offers, more specifically the mounted combat which I thought was flawless.

Such visceral artwork, I love it. I wish I had watched it live, but at least it is archived on gog.

Oh wow, eh, wow. Decisions, decisions. I have more than my fair share of songs I still listen to, but I'll try to keep it short : - - - - - Deus Ex: Hum Revolution - Icarus - - - (Love this song ) - Yoshi's Story - Yoshi's Happy Song - - - Skyrim - The Streets of Whiterun - (Jeremy Soule's best work, in my opinion) - (Not really a "track" per se, but I had this as my ringtone for a while. I added 'Sucka!' ) - Mass Effect - Uncharted Worlds - - Torchlight 2 - Enclave Morning - Torchlight 2 - Djinn - - - - - -- I think that's it for me. I have more so I may revisit this thread. Edit: Ohhhh, one more! -

Meh. Obsidian's full of D&D nerds who probably browse the internet just as much as we do. I'm sure they knew full and well what it's like. Were the comments ****, yeah from what I've read (I had the stream in full screen mode most of the time). Some moderation would have helped in that situation, but I don't see nor feel the need to apologize for the idiots out there.

NEW STRETCH GOAL!
Inyourprime replied to Loranc's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I imagine they'll do the in-game commentary in a similar fashion to what Valve did with Portal 2. . . Oh and Chris Avellone plays Arcanum while drunk. I'd contribue more, but I have to wait till Friday if I want to add to my pledge. Please make it happen! -
I've been playing Torchlight 2 since its' launch. To my surprise, I am having more fun than I expected with a sword and shield engineer.

They don't owe us anything. It's up to them if they want to listen to suggestions made on this forum. I don't know about you guys, but I put forth $8 in an effort to raise more money for Obsidian (oh, and the custom title as well, brah). Nothing more. Whomever was expecting a reward exclusively for the OO, please do me a favor and get off your ****. Thank you.

Okay, that sounds good. I'm needing to lower my pledge due to other pressing matters. Hopefully they'll have something in place just as inXile did with Wasteland 2. -
PE already inspiring others
Inyourprime replied to norolim's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Where's the concept and originality? All I got was "it's going to be an old-school RPG.. or two RPGs". The video was incredibly vague. No concept art? Nothing? I don't even know if it's going to be isometric or first person. That was a terrible pitch and I don't feel the least bit excited about it. You have got to present yourself better; and the timing of it -- this and PE competing for attention can't be good for either party... Edit: Okay, I'm a dumbass. All I had to do was scroll down the page to see it'll be first person. At least I know something about this project. Tell me more. -

I work and am full time student. Time isn't an issue, well for me anyway. We mericans have different tastes in gaming. Horrible taste, but different tastes nonetheless.
