  1. If we were to get a traditional expansion to this game, i'd love to see that. I think someone else mentioned elsewhere that it would be cool to also have character specific quests that result in some kind of master gear. A max level quest would be neat.
  2. Huh. I guess Dungeons & Dragons doesn't count for anything (Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson more specifically, heh). Think he's talking about video game RPG's.
  3. Character influence adds Deeds as you gain influence, which add stats. Anjali has given me 2 or 3 deeds that add +attack, because she wubs me.
  4. I think the OP needs a re-evaluation of what a really crappy game is. Whats funny is the title of this thread indicates he's on the fence, yet the post is a raging pit of flames. I won't say this is the best ARPG ever made, but its certainly not a bad game. It has some minor issues that could be addressed, but they're just that, minor. Tweak the loot, fix the MP camera, and maybe add a new game+ and this game is near flawless in my opinion (keyword there, opinion). I know the keybinding issue on PC's is a big one. I was a long time PC gamer before a console guy, and controls are most important. Thankfully they've promised a fix, so now we'll just see when. It's a shame too, because the controls are a masterpiece on a 360 controller. And man, going to have to completely disagree on FO:NV. I've gone through 8 playthroughs and I could play more.
  5. In order of preference, I would take... 1. A Last Stand/Arena type mode. -You could copy and paste Last Stand Mode from Dawn of War II and i'd be eternally happy. -You could make the characters generic classes, or leave them as characters doesn't matter. -You could have loot drops or specific purchases dependent on score. -Loads of options here really, and I think everyone would be happy with just about anything from this department. 2. New Game+ -With optional Insane difficulty. Don't have to raise the level cap, just churn out uber loot throughout the Insane Campaign 3. A proper expansion -While this is the least favorable route i'd like to take, its still great and i'd buy it. -Throw in all the standards from a good expansion. New Characters, Items, Level Increase, and a large new world to explore. I'll really take just about anything for this game though, thats just my order of preference personally. I'm already excited about my second playthrough on another character and I haven't even finished my first. But if Obsidian added a Last Stand type mode to this game, my friends and I would play Dungeon Siege III for years...
  6. Reinhart. I love playing defensively, and empowered geometry is nuts.
  7. That would be cool but I think they would have to implement persistent character saves to get that kind of stuff to work. Not that I woud be opposed to that in any way though ... I wouldn't even mind having separate individual character saves for that different game mode. You could even strip the character names and create classes of sorts so players can use the same character. Although that wouldn't be super necessary as the 4 character balance is still fun and entertaining. I'll take something like this in any form, and pay for it via DLC.
  8. That's how I feel. The #1 butthurt complaint on here is that its a farcry from the first 2, which for me would be an issue if it were the same developer. But its not. I love the combat, story is definitely good enough to get the job done (ie. I actually care), graphics are find, loot is great and the inventory is nice and easy to understand. I just wish it didn't end. Give me some kind of Last Stand mode (such as in Dawn of War II), or an arena, or New Game+ (with extreme difficulty). Any of those to add infinite replayability with friends (the DoWII Last Stand Leaderboard is a fun thing to climb). Camera could use a *minor* tweak. People are blowing this way out of proportion. I've played with 4 people, and its fine. Not great, but it works just fine. That and balance the loot for MP, it clearly favors the host. This can all be fixed with 1 TU.
  9. While I won't call this the best ARPG of all time or anything like that, its still a great game. I just don't pay attention to people needlessly bashing what is still an excellent game. It seems people are just very butthurt this isn't a clone of the previous 2 titles or some other hack n slash dungeon crawler. Maybe thats why its good I have a fresh perspective, i've never played the previous titles. And as i've said before, I could understand if this were the same developer making a 3rd installment that let everyone down. But thats not the case, so i'm not judging it on that fact. Most other complaints i've read are mere personal preferences, with the exception of the keybinding issue on PC's. That does suck and i'm glad they're fixing it. No game should lack the support to change the controls in my opinion. As for the rest of the game its great. Fix the 3 minor issues I have (loot balance, camera, new game+) and i'm completely happy. You would think this is the worst game on the planet the way some people talk on here, and its far from it. Go see what happened to Brink and you'll realize how spoiled you are.
  10. I see a lot of varying opinion but no hard facts as to why this game is bad. Graphics, exploration, item looks, etc are all personal preferences. Many of us are satisfied with these aspects of the game. For not having randomly generated dungeons the exploration is fine for me. The graphics are great, not sure where these complaints come from really. The real issues to this game are simple fixes as i've mentioned before. In my opinion these fixes would completely justify my 60$ purchase. But as it stands I still don't feel ripped off. This is a well polished, challenging and fun game. I just don't want it to end after i've played through with all 4 characters, that makes me sad.
  11. All in all the system isn't a huge problem, but its not super supportive of great online MP either. I wouldn't mind it if for the online MP you saved specific characters to your system that could only be used online, and local coop was a totally different save. I'm not sure why they made this design choice. Again not a huge problem the game is still great and very playable, but it would double the fun factor if this was changed. I'd even forgo the camera fix for something to change the MP aspect. I also want the loot tables adjusted for MP games only. Whenever a human player is present his loot drops should be equal to the host character. I don't care about the gear my tag-along AI gets, Anjali does just fine with her gear even though its half of what my Reinhart has. But if there is 2 humans, it should be 50/50. 4 it should be 25% a piece. I'm not sure why the loot so greatly favors the host character. In a MP setting, all eggs shouldn't be in the hosts basket. Fix these 2 to 3 issues which are relatively minor, and I would have zero complaints about Dungeon Siege 3.
  12. im with ya here make a d strafe keys without a doubt and have the camera stick to characters ass so if turning the camera follows instead of running backwards and such . the camera in whole needs replaceing the angle and view + the shared camera in MP is just garbage the character thing too they DID say you get ur own SP and MP characters i was figureing something like diablo 2 where u make x character and its stored on their servers where u can play several difficulitys with them and play through easy normal hard etc with the same character. hell we all know dungeon crawlers are about playing the game MANY times with the same character and farming boss runs 1000x times for the phat loots so ULTIMATELY you can pvp and dual each other to see whos best lol this is what i was preying for when i read about this game a replacement for diablo 2 a game that can last years not a day sadly due to the MP camera shareing thing and not saving my character or loot i only played for 2 hours before i wanted to rip my damn hair out... or make a noose to hang myself with @ this point all i can do is wait and prey to the gods they PATCH this and now It saves your characters loot on whoever is the hosts machine. So if you want to do a coop game from start to finish you need to start from the beginning with the people you intend to play with, and only play that save with them. But the loot imbalance is one of the reasons I made this thread. Just a slight tweak here could make the MP far better, that and the camera.
  13. I would take any arena, or last stand type mode in this game. I'd pay for it too in some DLC. Add any kind of infinite replayability to this game and i'll be forever grateful.
  14. Whats funny is i'm typically the guy who tears down a game when its crap and was advertised as something its clearly not (like Brink). I have very few complaints about this game, they're not even really complaints. Just 3 minor issues that could be addressed, but even if they're not I'm happy with my purchase. As i've mentioned before, tweak the MP camera, tweak the MP loot, and add New Game+. Those 3 minor things would make this a flawless console dungeon crawler, and something PC gamers will eternally complain that it isn't DS1/2, Diablo, or whatever. (j/k guys, innocent poke).
  15. Why on earth would Obsidian or Square Enix owe anyone money back for this game? What it lacks that i've seen around the boards thus far are all personal preferences, and the only static complaints are minor and can be patched in. Just because someone wasn't smart enough to rent a game first isn't their fault. I've rented then purchased DS3. I did make a huge mistake with Brink however, dropping the full 80$ for game and strat guide (good to read on the toilet). And Splash Damage could almost be sued for false advertisement, that game is a farcry from what they've been showing us for the past 3 years. Complete garbage. Dungeon Siege 3 on the other hand, is a great game. And not to sound like a broken record, but DS3 is the first good game to come out this year (except Child of Eden, but not everyone has Kinect).
  16. While not a flame post, it generally sounds as if you're just bitter that they've changed it so much from DS1 and 2. And to compare this game to the two previous entries so harshly is a bit much. Controls: Yes they are fixing it. Keybinding for PC users should have been in release for sure, however a day 1 response from a developer these days is unheard of. Cheers Obsidian for great customer service. Inventory: Whats wrong with it? I can zoom through the menus at light speed and in a split second make a decision on a piece of gear. I really like their inventory system and i'm thinking this is a matter of opinion and not an actual flaw of the game. Equipment Appearance: Yeah I would have liked to see a more progressive appearance based on loot, but the game looks great regardless. I also spend very little time looking at my character especially during the intense combat this game presents (assuming you're playing on hardcore, the real challenge). Being that this is Obsidian's first DS title I don't understand why people compare it so harshly to its previous entries. It's one thing if its original developer screwed everything up, but this is a fairly ambitious title from a developer who didn't work on the previous 2 games. So again these complaints just sound like you are more bitter about how its changed and evolved from the other 2 games. Other than controls which is a moot point if they're fixing it, you didn't even mention the real issues the game has which are minor. As every other thread states this game needs 2 tweaks and 1 addition to be near flawless. Tweak the MP camera, Tweak the MP loot, and add New Game+. I am sorry PC guys got a wonky control scheme that can't be altered. I'm glad they're fixing that for you guys though. As far as the consoles, the controls are flawless and extremely comfortable. I'm glad they nailed a console dungeon crawler, and I look forward to future DLC and such from Obsidian.
  17. After playing a good bit more this is what i've come to realize. The problems aforementioned are just minor problems. The camera could use tweaking, but its not something that requires a total overhaul. From my very few programming experiences, camera angles and things like lighting are tangible objects that can be easily altered once the game world already exists. So if its as simple as changing some code and moving an object a bit, I don't see why the camera can't be tweaked. Basically it just needs to be altered so you retain the single player camera, and not force you to see what your partner is doing. Tethering to the same area is fine, just don't force us to have to see our buddy. But as my other thread states, my official request list is A: Tweak MP loot to balance out characters in MP, B: Tweak the camera, C: New Game+. I really want this game to continue, and i'd love to run through its lengthy campaign on an even harder difficulty with my mastered character (not to mention having even more epic loot). Patch in those 3 things, and this game gets a 9.5/10, possibly a perfect score from me as I can't find anything else wrong with it. (Oh and its gorgeous on the Xbox, and the controls are flawless).
  18. I like this games camera just fine, just needs the MP camera tweaked a bit. After playing this game even more now (at level 22) I realize it needs a new game+ with an optional even harder difficulty. Playing through hardcore feels excellent and now that my companion and I have some pretty excellent gear we have a great combat flow going on. I could even spring for an insane difficulty to really push the challenge. The loot issue doesn't seem to be as big of a deal as you continue through the story. My partners gear still isn't up to my standards though, but i've decided this is a minor issue. When I join my buddies game I don't mind using the second rate gear, I still contribute greatly to the fight. So official wishlist: -Tweak the MP camera -Tweak the MP loot (especially for 4 people) -New Game+ I'd really love to experience the story again on a harder difficulty with my fully decked out character.
  19. What on earth does Obsidian have to apologize for? Dungeon Siege 3 is a great game. Minor issues aside, its fun and functional, and can be challenging. I would change one thing and add one other (tweak the MP, add New Game+) but other than that, I love DS3. It's got great graphics, good sound with a great musical score, no glitches that i've found what so ever. Everything works as its designed. All 4 characters are fun and have different play styles. This game is head and shoulders above the garbage that's come out this year, and really the first good title this year (along with Child of Eden, but Kinect isn't for everyone). And honestly, complaining that this game is too far different from previous Dungeon Siege titles is just dumb. If game didn't continue to evolve and present us with new play styles and theories, then why make new games at all? Why not just remaster the old stuff and put a spit shine on it?
  20. I was a huge Black Isle fan, and after FO:NV and Dungeon Siege 3 Obsidian has my confidence. I hope Bethesda brings them in on more projects. Dungeon Siege 3 is definitely the best console dungeon crawler i've played. I haven't finished it yet but at level 22 I can say that i've had a blast doing every single side quest I could find. The combat system is brilliant and playing Reinhart has a great feel. Hardcore is the only difficulty to play this game on. There are a few minor things i'd change about DS3, but certainly nothing game breaking. Great game Obsidian.
  21. I like the revive system in DS3, encourages tactics and teamwork over zerging. Additional features like socketing or enchants I could do with or without, but wouldn't mind if it showed up on a dlc. I would definitely buy a DLC that allowed me to continue past the ending. FO3 did this with Broken Steel, so we know its possible =)
  22. Even if the characters are tethered together like they currently are, there's no reason why each player can't control the camera independently in the exact same fashion as single player. No matter what you can't leave each other behind, but why would it matter what angle the player is viewing combat through? This to me would be a pretty simple fix.
  23. heh, interestingly, that's one of the things that makes D2 so good. I agree though, the transition from Diablo's art style and design to what we see in D2 was a bit unexpected, and it had felt wrong at first Blizzard is so talented they could fart into a fan and a good smelling game would be the result. One of the things I loved about Diablo was the dark, gritty, hopeless feeling it had. When you first step into the cathedral, you are immediately immersed in one of the best stories of struggle ever conceived. I still loved Diablo II, and they maintained the hopeless feeling even through a jungle and desert. I guess what i'm saying is that was such a drastic change in venue, and it was the same developer (with the same guy writing the story). Dungeon Siege 3 was handed to a completely different developer, and the resulting product in my opinion is fantastic. Definitely leaps and bounds over the garbage that has been released this past 6 months.
