  1. Unless, of course, you've been playing FO:NV for the last 6 months and keep pressing B to bring up your Pip-Boy to check your stats and instead waste Focus Every game should have a pip-boy anyway. Even Elder Scrolls. Make it a magic parchment on your wrist you unroll or something I don't care, just give me a pip-boy
  2. Force feedback in a racing more or less emulates the feel of driving over rough terrain. Rumble simulates fighting your enemies with a cell phone. Or with a vibrator. Ha, now that's funny.
  3. I'm yet to see reasons why DS3 should have been made for PC and ported to consoles instead of how it was done, other than graphical quality. And PC's still get better visuals than consoles, so why is this an issue? Saying DS3 in any other element was dumbed down due to the fact it was made for consoles is stupid. I'm so tired of the PC elitest crap that spews from some peoples mouths.
  4. I don't love rumble but I don't hate it either. Guess its a feature I could go either way about. I hate the rattling noise my controller makes during intense rumble sections. Thankfully I usually play with turtle beaches on so I don't hear it. But again, I usually disable it anyway. Combat is one of the strongest points in DS3 in my personal opinion. What an excellent balance of ebb and flow, defense and offense. Dungeon Siege III's combat gets a 10 out of 10 from Bakercompany.
  5. I turn off rumble in just about every game I play, especially shooters (if you want to hit anything). That's a personal preference. I didn't even notice though, is there rumble in DS3? I never pay attention to it even when its turned on, just something I overlook I guess. Your opinion is valid though, it's all things for Obsidian to take note of for future games. Without constructive criticism dev's would have little to go on for future games. This is why its important for haters and likers alike to post about what they love/hate about DS3. It may even shape the future DLC's for this game to a point where you might not dislike it so much
  6. Agreed. I'm at 14 hours and i'm not finished yet. I also agree with what you said about DS4. Obsidian had my confidence with FO:NV, one of my all time favorite games to play. DS3 has cemented them as a good developer in my book. I look forward to future products from them. In the mean time, my mind is just spinning with DLC possibilities for this game. I'll likely suffer a stroke when they announce it (okay maybe not a stroke, but i'll be excited )
  7. I'm pretty sure that comes as standard with a lot of games, DLC planned or not. It could just be a mechanic to get the pre-order special items. Very true. This game is ripe for DLC though. It's an excellent canvas for pretty much whatever they wanted to do with it. This combat system and these characters could easily fit into several game modes. It has potential to have some great DLC, and the forums are brimming with ideas for this. Fingers crossed. If not, I'll just come back and play through it again when it's not so fresh in my memory. Could even rob an idea from FEAR 3 with their game mode "F**king RUN!". You're chased by a wall of death and forced to advance quickly through waves of enemies. If any character hits the wall, you lose. If any character is downed, and then killed, you lose. Very very intense and would actually fit in DS3 even though Fear 3 is a FPS. Its the theory I like. If I was wealthy beyond measure, i'd personally fund Obsidian to make a Last Stand mode. I know I sound like a broken record on that issue, but its because when I think about the potential there I get giddy with excitement.

  9. Please stop lying to yourself and others, you make yourself look like a clueless buffoon. Mouse and keyboard is precise, flexible and superior to any control scheme. ...in shooters. In beat em up, hack n slash, fighters, etc the controller is far superior. Don't even lie to yourself. Go play through Darksiders on PC, then play on the 360 and tell me the keyboard and mouse is easier. Maybe as a personal preference, but thats about it. And you're talking to a PC gamer of 15 years, way before I was a console junkie. So its not like my opinion is that of a biased fanboy.
  10. Have to agree here for sure. In no way do I feel like I wasted my money and trades on DS3. I enjoyed every bit of the campaign and look forward to replaying it as the other characters. Sure we all want more for our money, who doesn't? But look at Brink, a game that was advertised as the end-all COD killing shooter. What we got was 8 crappy short maps, no single player, and a plethora of other issues. Then take F.E.A.R. 3 for example, an amazing title that offers the most intense first person shooter experience i've ever played, outstanding co-op, and 4 extremely fun multiplayer modes. This is another title to ignore the reviews on, and I highly recommend. But yeah, we didn't get ripped of for DS3. PC guys have the most room to complain, they do need a keybinding fix. The keyboard is already so clunky to use compared to a controller. Outside of that, DS3 is an exceptionally polished title that is loads of fun with a great campaign. I'll always take more in the form of DLC however
  11. Totally agreed on your first point. Talk about good customer service. This is why Blizzard has my eternal support towards whatever project they want to do. As far as your second point(s), I do agree DS3 has some missing features that I did expect it to have. It's still a great game in my opinion, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more focus on the MP aspect of it. Zero complaints about the SP playthrough minus unequal loot distribution. Definitely could have used a tad more focus on MP issues. Having said that, the things they missed on aren't so horrible that I won't enjoy my purchase of this game. And with a simple TU and a DLC this game could easily stand up against the rest of the genre. It has a lot going for it that others don't (like interesting combat). I can personally say that the combat in Diablo 2 was never what kept me into it. After the first playthrough where the story actually mattered, it was only about the loot from that point on. Fix the camera, adjust the loot, add a few things and this game will go from great to flawless for me.
  12. That really really cool. I hope voice actors know that even jaded gamers like me, that don't even really care if a a game has VO or not, very much appreciate it when a voice actor respects their audience and tries to 'get into the game world/lore' so to speak. Agreed. I'm happy to hear some/most of them don't view it as just another gig. And that they realize there are a ton of gamers excited about what they're working on. A heartfelt performance from a voice actor in a game can make it amazing in itself. Portal 2 for example. 3 of the best voice acting performances i've ever heard, and they made that game truly special.
  13. I can't wait to see what their first DLC is going to be. And we know its going to happen, its an option on the main menu =) Unless its the biggest tease of all time.
  14. The only thing that gave D2 depth was the amount of classes and the length of the game. Going back to playing D2 and Titan Quest, I realized how ridiculously repetitive the games are. I think at this point many people play D2 because its D2, it was a fantastic game for its time but its flaws are really starting to show when compared to current games Two words, Baal Runs. That is the extent of Diablo 2's replay value. Running Baal over and over and over and over until you're sick. While its not the worst way to extend a game, i'd much rather have an arena type mode with at least some different structure than running through a story portion over and over again. DS3 was streamlined for consoles in the graphics and control department, not story and layout. This could have easily been an open world with random dungeons to be replayed etc etc. Obsidian just didn't opt for that route. It's not like they had to dumb down the story or area design for consoles. The only thing that is changed for consoles is the graphical quality as they can't produce what a high end PC can. But lets say Obsidian released a DLC tomorrow. Lets say this DLC had new characters, items, maybe a few new dungeons (random or not), and said Arena Mode. With a run of the mill dlc like this, DS3 would easily be my clear choice for repeated RPG. As i've said before, Last Stand from Dawn of War II would be a beautiful fit for this game. I'd play it forever. And again I can't stress how much better the combat is in DS3 than Diablo 2. While Diablo 2 has vastly more abilities and moves, you end up using 2-3. While I use all 9 of Reinhart's. Not to mention the much better system of healing in this game (combined with dodging and blocking) compared to Diablo's get hit many times, chug potions, repeat. I like DS3's mechanics here far better.
  15. I think people are being a bit unfair with their criticism on DS3's MP. Yes it has a few minor issues, but they are indeed minor and not game breaking. I've personally played with 3 of my buds on hardcore, and we had a ridiculous amount of fun. The camera didn't even bother us that much as we were too focused on the insane combat. Dodging, blocking, healing, tossing out focus moves, building it back up, empower this, dodge some more, oh crap buddies down...revive... Tons of fun there. The camera and loot just needs minor tweaks, that's it. It isn't a broken game that needs to be scrapped and completely re-written. It's beautiful, sounds great, and doesn't have a single bug or glitch that I or my friends ever experienced. And I think I've heard one person on these boards, *1*, say they encountered a very minor bug that didn't even effect their game. Obsidian deserves some props for a very polished game, regardless if it did or didn't meet someones personal expectations. Back on topic. This interview makes me happy. He was honest about the (few) issues with game. I think 1 TU and 1 DLC and this game is a 10/10 in my book. Whereas some recent games needed about 4 patches, and a DLC to even be an average game. Hell Brink had to release their first planned DLC for free because the game is such garbage that Splash Damage did it as an apology. Count your blessings that DS3 is a functional and fun game for everyone (once they fix PC controls, that is). In the mean time PC guys, you really should try a 360 controller. The control layout on it is magical, and a work of art.
  16. I still have a Hammerdin rockin' D2 Yeah Diablo 2 is a great game. Blizzard is loaded with some of the best development talent in the world, and every game they produce is a 10 out of 10. I was also a WoW nerd for 6 years, quitting felt like finally getting over a bad drug addiction. While I do wish DS3 had some sort of endless replay value like D2, Dungeon Siege 3's combat, visuals, and sound smoke Diablo 2. As it should, the game is over a decade old. Diablo's combat revolves around maxing out one ability and spamming said ability, for every class. DS3 is a very well made balance of building focus, using focus powers, and building power orbs. It's also far more challenging than Diablo 2. It's easy to be extremely biased against a game that disappointed you for whatever reason. You should have heard my rants about Brink that coincidentally bought me a temporary ban on the Bethesda forums (okay so I called some kid a turd, sue me). But to be fair, DS3 has a lot over Diablo, and Diablo still maintains a few advantages over DS3.
  17. Depth is not the same as game length Portal for example had quite a lot of depth, yet it only lasted a few hours The gameplay of DS3 is loads better then DS1/DS2, even though its not as long (however judging by the fact that there is a menu section for DLC, it appears that Obsidian will start releasing DLC content on DS3). DS3 has much more "depth" in terms of both gameplay and lore then the older DS's in the series, it just happens to be a bit shorter compared to the other epic bioware rpg's (that have 40+ hours of gameplay) Well said. Portal 2 was a masterpiece as far as i'm concerned DS3 has some of the best combat i've seen in a dungeon crawler. Its not just running around spamming abilities like Diablo II (although I still love D2). DS3's combat feels like a perfect balance that forms into a nice flow with each character.
  18. Yes when you hold LT and block, you're technically in defensive stance and you'll see your defensive abilities.
  19. I would like to see both sales and rental figures for this game. Sales being the most important since you can rent a game and not like it, the latter just had me curious. This game also didn't seem to get a whole bunch of hype like other games. Which usually means low budget production, which I believe is the case in DSIII. Like most said it had a very short development cycle, and most likely a low budget also. Obsidian just had the advantage of writing their own game engine for it, thus much fewer bugs than say FO:NV where they weren't as familiar with Bethesda's engine (even though I still love New Vegas). Given the development time and potential lack of funding, I think DSIII turned out wonderfully. Sure i'd change a minor thing or two, but nothing game breaking.
  20. I mean I don't mind if they implement PvP. I've always been a supporter of "if you don't like it don't play it." Either persistent character saves, or just saves unique to the game mode itself. Either would work for me. I'm completely fine with building a separate character for a different game mode. Leveling in this game was a blast, and I looked forward to each new level.
  21. Could actually care less about PvP in this game. I would think one character would be a bit OP, like Reinhart and empowered Geometry. Just seems unfair. Just give me an arena with endless waves to knock down in 4 player coop.
  22. That was a good interview, and he made plenty of sense. I do find that DSIII has little to no bugs (I actually encountered zero). It's a finely polished product. And there is a great balance between combat, dialogue, and story. I didn't get bored once. And the combat is my favorite part =) I can't wait for my second playthrough, i'm currently on the I think my second playthrough will be with Lucas. I've enjoyed Reinhart very much. I hope the first DLC is soon, and amazing =) But then again who doesn't? *starts praying for last stand*
