  1. I only wish that every thread on this forum wouldn't be hijacked by the people complaining. By all means create your own thread for the debate. I created one specifically for suggestions to improve the game. But each one gets interrupted by people screaming about how this game sucks. I just want to hear peoples constructive feedback and suggestions. I don't want to sit here mopping up tears from broken dreams all day long.
  2. In no way shape or form was your original post constructive criticism. You didn't post any suggestions on how to remedy things. "...if only for that stupid, idiotic, even anal final battle" isn't suggesting anything to improve. It just said you really didn't like it. By all means suggest ways to improve the game. But don't dress up a turd and call it a rose. You shouldn't have to break down your post and translate like you did in your last one.
  3. Yes. I know that. Which is why I said there should be a better system for reviewing games based on it's own merits and it's flaws. But that system should also give a few points to the reviewer to express his/her opinion as well. As it is many reviews and scores are based entirely on opinion. And I have seen some good games get railroaded while bad games have gotten some oddly high scores. Like Too Human, that I thought was awful, actually scored higher than some games I thought were pretty good. That could be a matter of opinion and not a measure of bugs/glitches etc. Still, a company like Gamefly is a godsend to gamers. I don't care what the title is, if you have the option to try before you buy, you should do so. In the case of DSIII, we were treated to a lovely demo that allowed you to test 2 of the 4 characters and mill through the first section of the game. More than fair i'd say especially as a free demo with no strings attached.
  4. I really wish this game had an arena, I can't tell you how bad I want that in DSIII. I'd take a New Game+ as a runner up, but I think i'd rather have an arena as I don't typically like to play through the same story multiple times. I'm doing so just because this game is actually fun enough for me, and after playing Reinhart i'm having a blast with Lucas. But man, definitely need something tacked on to keep the replay up.
  5. What I said earlier was only a suggestion. When I felt the Brink forums became populated only by people who felt there was nothing wrong with it and didn't want any of the loads of problems fixed, I left. After a month without a single word from the developer it seemed futile, there were too many things that needed to be fixed. I'm all for people sharing their opinions of this game. But like the OP of this thread, he didn't offer a single suggestion on how the formula could be improved, only complaints that this wasn't a "dungeon siege" game. Which perhaps spiritually it's not, but in reality, it is. If you're going to come here to complain, at least share how you think Obsidian could improve the formula either via fixing this game or if its too far gone (which a 3/10 review would indicate) what can they do to make DSIV a success? You're a perfect example Monkey. When you first came to these boards, your initial review was pretty hard towards DSIII. But you still suggested ways you thought the game could be improved. Just shouting "this game sucks" gives Obsidian nothing to go on for the future. And seeing has how Square Enix owns the DS licence, and they chose Obsidian to develop said franchise, it might be a smart idea to offer suggestions along with your criticism as you and I have done, and so have others. That's if you wanted to see the franchise at all salvaged in your eyes in the future. No amount of complaining on these boards will stop Square from allowing Obsidian to develop DSIV. EDIT: Edited as I saw the mods post above... EDITx2: Correction, there is an amount of complaining on these boards that would make Square not allow Obsidian to continue development of the DS franchise. But there are plenty of lovers for DSIII so that won't happen. And as long as people like Game Informer gave it an 8/10, they'll assume the majority is positive.
  6. I'm not hard on people at all. I suggested earlier that if someone thinks the game is unable to be salvaged even a little bit, post your review here and move on. Why sit on the forums and complain about how you hate the game? Everyone is entitled to do whatever they please, it was a suggestion. It was a suggestion then followed by what felt like attacks, so I defended myself. @Greylord: Who are you addressing in your post?
  7. Yes that's exactly the issue. There are many people on here dissatisfied with the game that simply post suggestions on how it could be improved either now or in the future. However the majority of the "haters" have only come here and flamed. What gets accomplished by saying "this game sucks" and leaving it at that? Nothing. Yes there are a lot of people here "whining" mostly because this game isn't exactly like DSI and II. When you moan and complain without and deliberation on how to improve the game or maybe even a simple suggestion of "hey you could change this, or implement this" that's all you're doing is whining.
  8. How dare you judge and label people? This forum is here for any of us to voice opinions, whether you like it or not. If you disagree with our opinions "...post your opinion" without belittling other posters. If that doesn't work for you, post a topic and call it "The Fan Club." You'll have a cozy little group who'll worship your "well-thought-out" ideas Speak for yourself! Why don't you practice what you preach? I've seen none of the hardcore complainers offer any suggestions on how to improve the game. Only "this game sucks" and thats the end of it. "The rest of us" are the people who have agreed with me in many threads if you'll go look through them yourself, that the game is fine and just needs tweaking. And as far as practicing what I preach... trying doing a little research.
  9. Spoiled indeed. Go play the buggy crap-looking mess that is Hunted, and tell me DSIII is still a bad game. Then again they will still say its a bad game, that is their opinion and they are entitled to it. Just like we're entitled to our opinion that DSIII is one of the better games to come out this year.
  10. Katarina, Flintlock Fury, weird synonym for dodge roll. Yeah I got that, I guess the wording said to me "I didn't pay attention to anything."
  11. Uh ... yeah you've overstayed yer welcome sonny, this is a tiny town and we don't want you comin' round. /pitchforks provided by Obsidian Defense Squad! I mean they could stay here, but if the game is that horrible where its a total loss to you why are you here beyond your initial complaint anyway? If you think the game is a total loss, then post your opinion and dissatisfaction here and move on. Otherwise you're staying here solely to be a whiny B***h and mope and moan because something didn't go entirely your way. The rest of us are here to produce constructive well thought out ideas, in hopes the Developers catch notice of what the community wants and implement the fixes/DLC we request. Universal things such as the Camera, Loot, and game end are about the only common complaint (other than the PC controls, which are getting fixed). The rest of what I've seen is "WAAAAAAAAAAAH DSIII isn't a carbon copy of DSI and II WAAAAAAAAAH!!!!" So yeah, at that point cut your losses and leave if you're not going to post anything useful and just continue to suck up valuable cyber space with worthless b***hing and moaning. If you want to produce a well thought out complaint with suggested fixes that's fine. But "this game sucks" isn't as useful as you think. It's actually useless like the majority of the posts from the whiners. I'm all for people offering suggestions on how to improve the game, or perhaps not make the same mistakes in the next game. If you pay attention to these boards there are 3 groups of people. 1: We're happy with the game mostly, but want a few changes to make it 100% playable all around. 2: We're somewhat dissatisfied with the majority of the game, but if you fix (insert issue) the game could be salvageable. 3: We're so upset this game is a far cry from DSI and II, that we're only here to b***h and convey that fact, and nothing else useful. Which group are you in?
  12. Gunner? Machine gun? Blink? What game are you talking about?
  13. HA! 3/10 would indicate that the developer completely failed in their mission to create a game. And if that is your opinion then DSIII is always too lost for you to even worry about, so its time to leave these forums as Obsidian isn't going to rewrite the entire game for you. I personally give DSIII at least a 8/10. If they fix the camera and adjust the loot then its up to a 9/10 for me. And if they add another game type thats endlessly replayable, then its perfect in my eyes and I would see nothing wrong with the game at all. Again thats *my* opinion. I consider a game 10/10 not if its the most perfect game ever created, but if I enjoy it and I can find nothing wrong with it. New Game + is useless if the gameplay is garbage. Thankfully DSIII's gameplay is actually some of the best i've seen in an ARPG, and it smokes every other dungeon crawler i've played in combat. Instead of mindless flinging of spells and abilities you actually have to think. Yes I want new game+ or some other form of game mode, but thats only because I like DSIII so much I want more.
  14. This game was designed around the 4 characters specifically. It wouldn't work with more than 4 players on the field without some sort of alternate game type and strip the characters of their identities and replace that with generic classes. This is sort of like i've suggested with the Arena/Last Stand mode potential, even though I think 4 people is a perfect number for that as well. 4 is a solid coop number. Also this is the Dungeon Siege III thread. You can find the Alpha Protocol tech support forums here It's not a solid number for my group of 5 people that played DS1 and DS2 and would all like to play this one when they come in for a week long LAN vacation that we do every year. Apologies I have never played DS1 or 2 and this game is a fresh concept to me, thus I don't consider the first two games. Also, DS3 is a different developer than the previous 2 entries and I don't ever expect new developers to clone previous entries. You're joking, right? OMG...what a typical PR answer. PR? And no i'm serious bud. In no way would I expect a new developer to not want to do things their way and make the franchise that was handed to them their own. DSIII is bug free and very fun (in my opinion) therefore i'm happy with what Obsidian did with it.

  16. 3/10 huh? Wow, I guess we should all be glad that games aren't actually rated based on your scale. No joke. That means you would give Brink a 1/10, Hunted: The Demons Forge a 1/10, and pretty much every release this year around a 1/10.

  18. People need to be more realistic with the camera issue. While its not great, its not game breaking and is still playable even with 4 people. Yes it needs some tweaking, but its not something that needs to be scrapped entirely and reworked from the beginning. As far as the OP is concerned, I have no idea what you're talking about. Playing with 2 people is the best experience multiplayer thus far, as you can easily retain control of the camera. 4 people not so much, but again its still playable just not great.
  19. No, I expanded my point. Also, more content is only part of the reason. DS3 could have 4X the amount of items and still not have a lot of re-playability. It's not just the quantity, it's how in-depth the systems are and how they interact with other aspects of the game. Regarding D2 only having 1/3rd builds being viable...well first of all that's a made up statistic. Second of all even if only "1/3" builds are viable there's still a **** load more options than DS3 that being the case. People keep mentioning skill spamming as an argument against the older games too, and really it's the same exact thing in DS3. I spammed the same skills over and over against the same group of enemies over and over with little variation sans boss fights. DS3's combat while fun and fast pace suffers from the same kind tactics. Doesn't really bother me much though...just saying. I don't believe the foundation is as strong as you say...at least not from a "unlimited dungeon" perspective. The item system would need a thorough improvement (not just adding more items), level system would need improvement, higher level cap, and a bunch of other pretty hefty improvements. This game will probably have story/quest focused DLC. Anyways I do like the game (read my review thread) but let's call a spade a spade. This isn't a dungeon crawler, this is a console style story focused action/adventure rpg. Your point here is why I think they went with the loot they did. Given the linear story and the length of the game, the loot system is adequate enough to get the job done. If they added some sort of endless replayable option, then yeah the loot would need a boost or you'd be swimming in about 200 pairs of Heroic Pants. But I'm sure if a DLC came out with any sort of content, they'd add items too. Wouldn't even need different graphics on the characters, just change some names and stats around and you can add 100's of items with ease. I suggest when they do, they tweak the stats and add many pieces for people who like to focus on say, one or two stats. You could make one string of items focus on heavy attack, with a bit of agi. On the converse, make one high agi, with moderate attack. Then you could just see "offensive" focused pieces having Att, Agi, Retribution/Chaos:damagestuff. Then defensive sets as well, which stats would be obvious to use. Lots of easy options there, I have no doubt they'll make it and do it well in the future. As it stands i'm really enjoying playing Lucas right now. He's very satisfying to kill people with, and his 2-handed stance standard power attack is beautiful.
  20. Wish you could have seen my last Hardcore bout with the fishman while playing as Lucas. Was pretty bad ass, you would have thought a professional had done it. Maybe I am a professional gamer....
  21. Hey i'll second that. I like what this game engine can produce, and what Obsidian can do with it. Let's hope they do more
  22. It's a shame it let you down in the echos of the previous titles. Because DS3 at its core is some of the best combat i've seen in an ARPG. Not to mention being an entirely bug free experience which apparently these days isn't a sure thing for your 60$.
  23. I never played a previous DS game so the name meant nothing to me. I played the demo and thought it was amazing, and then bought the game to reveal I was correct. So I guess there goes the false advertising claim, you know when they put out a free demo and all
  24. I never played the first 2 Dungeon Sieges, but I imagine they could do something like this if Square owns the licence for DS and they want to let Obsidian do that. I'll take it
