  1. Yeah the stats are just fine in this game, I think what he wants is more loot diversity. And certainly while the loot is good enough to get you through the game, I can't tell you how many pairs of Heroic Pants I ran through. The loot system just needs tweaking. I don't need to see "of the Tiger" or "of the Whale" to feel like the loot system is great. Just maybe a wider range, plus more high end (gold color) items that are head and shoulders above the rest of the loot. And sets that focus on certain stats. Offensive sets that would focus on Att, Agi, Will, and maybe retribution along with Chaos effects. And defensive sets that focus on Armor, Block, Sta, and Warding. I kinda like the set bonus thing too, wouldn't mind seeing that in DS3. Again I feel this all falls under the "more" category and not so much in the "lacking" category. The loot system works as is and is more than ample enough to get you through the game, and look pretty sweet by the end of it. And for a change your starting characters don't look like total scrubs. Your beginning character in WoW looks like a peasant. I'll take any form of "more" from Obsidian towards this game. Dungeons, Loot, Characters, Levels, whatever they want to make i'll take. This game is great and i'm having just as much fun on my 2nd 3rd and 4th playthroughs as my first. BTW I think Lucas has the best voice actor, although Katarina is sexy....
  2. Great ideas! I like seeing this kind of innovation in the community. You should add this to the community request thread.
  3. Yes, a whole lot better than KOTOR I, just like Fallout New Vegas is a whole lot better than Fallout 3 in every way you can think of. I *love* Fallout:NV. I'm from Washington DC, so playing FO3 and running around nuked out DC was really cool. But the touches Obsidian added to NV reminded me of Fallout 2 and its sense of humor. Fallout/Elder Scrolls games always have a ton of bugs, but I think Bethesda's engine and the sheer scope of the game world are more to blame. That is a LOT of game to test and debug. I've played through FO:NV probably about 8 times now, and I don't think i've done every single quest. Love that game.
  4. It's actually not easy. I can admit that. First, there is the Microsoft memory limits on patches, and thus a patch even for a camera issue has to fit. Second, a complete rewrite of code and another code to nullify the original code. It's not easy, there is a significant amount of work involved. But it is far from impossible... however the main issue is the decisions to weigh what is most important. A patch to fix a camera issue means less space for DLC and future patches (eff you Microsoft) and since Obsidian is a most fair developer there is almost no chance that they would work out a separate patch for PC and PS3. This isn't meant to discourage people but I am just trying to shed some light on patch situations in the current market strictly because of Microsoft and their failings with the Xbox platform's "small print" that limits developer support for games. For more information you can easily find this information by Googling "Xbox DLC and patch limitations". That's good to know I will go look that up. @soomon: That's a funny way of saying thank you.
  5. I don't know how easy or hard it would be to fix the cameras. To me it simply looks like you could just keep whatever code says to keep players within a certain distance, and just stop it from the dramatic shift when people join. Basically leave it on the same single player camera there is no need to change it. And the mechanics are clearly in place for this somehow. When you're doing any battle especially boss battles in large areas, your computer buddy can run where ever he wishes without interrupting your camera. I imagine the same fix for consoles would be the same on PC's. Once the camera is fixed, DS3's multi-player will get a huge boost in awesomeness. I'd say if the entire community took a vote, now that PC controls are getting fixed, Camera would be the #1 please fix on the list. Then fix the loot issue plus the gear generation/mastery thing for joining a mp game, and it's flawless in my eyes. Then we just need DLC
  6. This is such an excellent and well done combat system. And combined with the difficulty of hardcore and the way some of the enemies/bosses are, one of the most intense ARPG's i've played in a bit. I love Reinhart, and empowered Geometry of Destruction is absolutely nuts.
  7. NWN2, Fallout:NV, and Dungeon Siege III are among some of my favorite gaming experiences of my life. Comparing it against all other Obsidian games, its their most finished and by far most polished bug free product from them i've seen. Comparing it to the rest of the games that have come out this year so far, its one of the best in terms of polish, being finished, and being fun. Okay maybe fun is subject to opinion, but thats my opinion. Hunted:The Demons Forge has a bug in the first 20 minutes of the game that if you aren't already aware of, you'll spend the next 30 minutes trying to figure out until you restart it and the guy finally does what he's supposed to do. DSIII has no such bugs. The game from start to finish, and all side quests, are executed flawlessly. The boss fights are very well done and can be very challenging.
  8. Yeah maybe I should have been more clear. I read it from a developer interview as WorstUserNameEver said. They said it would be too difficult and impractical at the time and it was out of scope. I promise I wasn't trying to crush your hopes and dreams.
  9. Yup the remainder of the issues are in all versions of the game. So basically when they address them, everyone shall rejoice Camera is definitely the biggest one, followed by loot balance and generation, and then some form of endless replayability. At least in my opinion thats the order.
  10. I saw another really good idea from the Torchlight description, where you unlock some kind of "endless" dungeon after completing the game. Most gamers don't really care what form the endless replay value comes in, as long as it is present. So I hope what they conjure up to extend the play on DS3 is brilliant
  11. LOL, What? I killed some bosses(like Maru Yatum) by just using wind shear(with maxed wounding gale) and endless wrath, wind shear has the longest reach, area effect efficacy and deals horrible damage if you specced your character right. Not to mention that with heroic charge you can reach anything and escape anything. L2P. All on hardcore of course, I can't play this game on anything less than hardcore. You're funny for a... never mind. No flaming, forum rules Okay I lied, you're not funny at all. Didn't say I couldn't do it, said he's the most difficult with no ranged option. At least the other 3 characters were fairly easy, and he requires a lot more rolling. L2Troll
  12. I read somewhere that a toolset would be very difficult to make and not likely to happen. Which is a shame because user created content is always interesting and sometimes extremely good. I'd even buy a dlc made out of some of the best user created content.
  13. Should be enabled by default I think. When I jump into a game mine is on and I didn't change anything. Just make sure your mic isn't muted, a problem I seem to forget a lot
  14. Yup i'm doing my 2nd 3rd and 4th playthroughs on the remaining 3 characters almost simultaneously. Anjali is a great character, Katarina is a bit harder than I thought she would be but incredibly powerful, and Lucas is the most difficult in my opinion with no ranged option. Even though the campaign isn't random at all and linear, I'm enjoying it playing through it again with a different character.
  15. Aye, that would have been nice. But seems to be the current trend that publishers almost getting rid of manuals completely... This is due to the heavy in game tutorials. Why spend money printing a large elaborate manual when the in-game menu handles everything? I personally don't mind as much, I do like manuals like back in the day where they had everything explained, story prologue, character bios etc. In the case of DS3 everything you need to know is in the in-game Help Topic menu.
  16. Copying and pasting my post from another thread here, as its extremely relevant and would like it to be in my request thread. What I said was.... Now Obsidian, please fix the camera. It's not unplayable, but its close with 4 players. Combine the bad camera with the fact that people who join the game have crap gear, and they end up dead very fast, and often. Example: 4 of us were doing . Because the camera limited their movement and ability to dodge, they all died except me, and it ended up me dodging everything to revive them constantly. Multi-player will be flawless with the following changes in order of necessity: -Fix the Camera. It should be completely freed up where the player still has single player control regardless of how many players exist. Just tether them via a distance check instead of the camera feeling like a leash. -Fix the random gear players start with when joining a MP game. The gear should be randomized to somewhat be similar to what the host character has. Without this fix, people who joing games at later levels do virtually no damage. My standard attack as Reinhart against the final boss was doing like...26 damage a hit? Too weak to really even do anything but revive the host. -Fix loot drops throughout the campaign in MP. This should even out with the presence of human players. 2 players loo should drop 50/50, 4 players should be a 25% split. -Perhaps when you join someones game, give each ability a bit of the master bar filled depending on level. If you join a game in the 20's, each ability should have about 65% of its master bar filled. Empowered moves are a huge part of this combat system and can make or break a fight, but joining someones game you will basically have zero mastery filled. So again a gimped character to run around with. After you fix those issues, MP will be perfect. Until you fix the camera, the best defensive mechanic Dodging is severely restrained due to the camera. You can actually become trapped in an open area by the corner of the camera. So please tether people by distance and free the camera up. Boss fights should feel just like single player where your buddy can be off screen giving you freedom of movement. Then i'll definitely take some sort of New Game+ or preferably an arena type mode to fight waves of enemies. This game has an excellent variety of creature types and that would enable dozens upon dozens of mixed enemies to throw at the team. And you can do so much with an arena mode. Again I point to Dawn of War II's last stand mode. It has a great gear unlock system combined with its leveling, and there's even more creative freedom to be had in Dungeon Siege III. I could sit here and think of tons of ways it could be done, so I can't imagine what the creative minds at Obsidian would be able to conjure up.
  17. Yeah, kudos on putting in a feature that should've been in the game from the very beginning. Quit whining and just be thankful. Many developers produce completely garbage games and don't fix them hardly at all, and then the fixes are also garbage. IE. Brink and Splash Damage. This was the #1 issue for PC players, and they're rolling out the update in less than a month. They told us about their intentions to fix it within the first few days it was released. That is excellent customer service. I haven't seen that quick of a response from any other developer on fixing their games. These days almost every game is released with some kind of issue, with the exception of the extreme high end titles that can afford extensive beta testing and such. Issues that are later patched up. Do you have any idea how many times Diablo 2 has been patched in the past years? Now Obsidian, please fix the camera. It's not unplayable, but its close with 4 players. Combine the bad camera with the fact that people who join the game have crap gear, and they end up dead very fast, and often. 18. My Dungeon Siege was paid off by my other pre-order cancels. After I discovered several games were garbage, their pre-order deposits became DS3 payments =D Combined with employee discount I paid about 20$ for this game. But I think its worth the full 60$ still. This day if anyone blind faith purchases a title without renting or research, its just a bad idea. I recently got burned on Brink for 80$ game and strat guide, and the game was horrible. Of course Splash Damage lied to the community about the product they were actually receiving. Dungeon Siege III was the exact opposite, its beautiful and fun and despite being very linear I enjoy it very much.
  19. See to me the AI was fine even in hardcore. There were only a couple boss fights where Anjali bit it and I had to revive her. It was usually the other way around. Targeting only seems to be an issue in multiplayer for me, and this is typically from the camera which I view as the biggest issue. Especially when it rotates without you wanting too simply because a teammate is running in a different direction. The camera badly needs to be freed up, it actually gets people killed in this game. Camera angle shouldn't add to difficulty level. In addition to that, there needs to be better randomized loot when you join someones game at a higher level. I joined in on someones final boss fight, and my gear was so crappy that I was tickling the boss. The gear should be randomized to at least be about 75% of what the host characters gear is, and then the drops should be equal as long as a human player is present. EDIT: Thank you Tigranes. This thread was indeed meant for finding ways and suggestions to improve a great game and make it amazing. Not to sit here and mope and moan that the game will be dead in months.
  20. It doesn't matter who picks up the loot as they are character specific. So as long as it gets picked up, the person playing the character the loot is for can choose to equip it or not.
  21. Before anything is added, the multi-player camera issue needs to be resolved. It is extremely difficult to play a 4 player game due solely to the camera. Keep the players tethered by a distance, but let the camera just be as free as the single player one. And I definitely don't want my camera to rotate because an ally is moving. It should only move based on what I do. After that, yeah any more content is welcome.
  22. I never died from lack of dodging. More trying to squeeze in an ability strike and not being able to dodge as the animation hasn't finished casting. Either that or focusing on clearing minions and the same happens because my back is turned.
  23. I actually think DS3 has one of the better bread trails. You don't have to use it at all if you don't want too. Or if you want quick direction so you can continue at a brisk pace, tap the up button on your D-pad. So people like you never have to see it, and others have quick access to it. I dig it. Mini-maps are debatable. I like them if they're well done, and DS3's is well done. I really like DS3's interface though, I think its perfect for the game and pretty non-invasive.
