  1. Yeah I could totally deal with the camera if the loot/save/import issue were fixed/changed. We do get 50 save slots, more than enough to have a static save for each friend or set of friends you play with. That way you could have a save for any combination of buddies you have. We had exactly 4 guys ready for DS3, and we all wanted to play a different character. Not a single conflict there. And we already agreed loot would be divided on need, this was of course before we realized loot was character specific which made life even easier. But lacking the character import function we were completely convinced this game would have, it makes it complicated. So you have to have several different games going on with different saves. Or their character would just get the scraps and be auto leveled when they rejoin. I'd love a change in that department though. As it stands even the static idea isn't as good due to the loot drops clearly favoring the hosts character. Not a horrible system as it is, but it could be slightly tweaked for a massive gain in fun factor. I hope its as easy as it sounds. I have no doubt Obsidian is a talented capable bunch. They earned a spot on my favorite developer list when they made FO:NV, and DS3 is another example of a quality game from a quality developer.
  2. I've never played a previous Dungeon Siege game, so perhaps i'm a nice fresh perspective on DS3. I would say its okay to judge DS3 based on its previous entries if it were being done by the same developer, but its not. Obsidian has handled a lot of different RPGs, some good some bad, but all vastly different. Alpha Protocol, FO:NV, and DS3 are RPGs at their heart, but very different from each other. DS3 to me is an excellent game. It's beautiful, the sound is excellent with a good musical score, and the gameplay mechanics are solid, fun, and challenging. On Hardcore, its a great blend of tactical combat and teamwork. The environments are standard fare for a fantasy RPG, but they are beautiful on the Xbox 360 (can't imagine a PC). The story is pretty generic, but thats not a bad thing. Often when RPG developers try to think too far out of the box they end up ruining the game by focusing too much on story and failing on every other front. When I first started playing Diablo I, if you told me i'd be running through deserts and jungles in Diablo II, I would have thought you were nuts. But not only were we doing that in D2, it was fun. Complaining that DS3 isn't a updated carbon copy of the other DS games is like complaining about a bands new album sounding different. If they all sounded the same, why release new albums? So from a newer DS players perspective, DS3 is a great game. As I mentioned in my other Suggestion thread, there are 2 minor issues i'd like addressed and DS3 would be perfect in my opinion. I understand the Keybinding for the PC guys is a big issue, but Obsidian has already promised a fix! That's far better customer service than i've seen out of most developers lately *coughsplashdamagecough*
  3. Features that either don't make the cut or fail to meet expectations probably aren't a factor of the developer being lazy, but more of a budget and time thing. Clearly Obsidian spent a lot of time rendering a beautiful world, excellent sound, and fantastic gameplay elements. The multiplayer is missing a couple things that probably could have been fixed in a bit more time of development. But unlimited time is usually a resource developers outside of Blizzard don't have. Thankfully we have the patch system. And if everyone continues to post constructive feedback requesting these fixes, they may be able to implement them in the future via patch or DLC.
  4. So lets see if I have the tally correct. The only known issue that has been addressed is the PC keybindings, and we're getting a fix. Totally sweet, thank you Obsidian. Now we just want to hear about the possibilities of the other changes. -Can the loot be modified in any way to benefit the coop scene? -Can the camera be fixed to players desires? -Will we ever be able to import characters? I understand the thought of importing characters potentially hurting someones play experience by having a higher level breeze through it. If thats how they want to spend their 60$ so be it. Character import enables players to take their hard work to a friends game to show off, and quest along side your buddies character that he worked on. Being that this game has a definitive ending and you can't continue past it (yet) rushing someone through the game doesn't necessarily benefit them, it just speeds them through a beautiful game. So, are any of these things possible Obsidian?
  5. Good news is im pretty certain a keybinding fix is coming for the PC. When I don't know, but thats awesome for PC guys =D
  6. Most of the boss fights take place in a similar arena type setting. I think it would work wonderfully in this game. Its all standard fare of mixing up the melee and ranged enemy types with a few more powerful hybrids, plus mini bosses and regular wave bosses. It would be awesome and infinitely replayable.
  7. Brilliant! Totally pitching this idea to my xbox buddies today. God, first 2 hours of playing on hardcore and my buddy and I would have been sloshed hahaha. Fish dudes banged us up pretty good.
  8. I'm just glad the impatience on these boards is because DS3 is actually a great game and we just want it perfected, which its very close to in the eyes of many. Other boards we were impatient because the game was absolute garbage and we wanted to hear something from the devs about how they would at least make the game playable. If DS3 stayed the way it is today i'd still love it because its a great game all around. Fix 2 things, and its a perfect game for me
  9. The MP camera isn't completely horrible. It's not the best but it still works with all 4 people on the screen. I'd like it changed, but i'd rather the loot/character import issue be changed instead if I had to choose. Those are my 2 issues with the game. Well that and of course I want more =)
  10. TBH, from what I've seen/read I'm not sure this would work. For example Lucas' blade dash could easily destroy waves without him being touched. Now (custom?) boss waves on the other hand.. I think it would be amazing anyway they did it. With this ballet of a combat system that requires no resources that can't be replenished in combat, an arena would be brilliant. Just make it very difficult, as this game rewards those teams who think on the spot and coordinate well. The boss fights in this game are excellent.
  11. I can see where the coop experience in DS3 definitely leans towards console guys over PC guys. Its set up to favor a static group of 4 buddies as opposed to the randomness of online gaming. Looks like the imported character option would be the best bet. That alone would take a ton of new code I would think. They would have to: -Change the entire main menu interface to support the actual character instead of the game save, which is what it favors now. Your game save is your character, so they'd have to enable the character portion of the game save to be its own entity instead of part of the game save. -Change the loot tables to favor all characters present. If all 4 are playing, it should be 25%/25%/25%/25% with no exceptions. -Implement new netcode allowing this new separate entity (being the characters) to exist by itself as well as matchmaking code that would be able to search by missing characters in a game as well as monitoring the characters progress to better match you to a game around your location in the games plot. This means taking it from matching you up with a game that just has an empty slot, to completely rewriting the matchmaking to support independent characters with their own place in the story, their gear, and their talents/abilities. Having said all that, it might not be realistic to see this patched into a game. I'd be willing to pay for a DLC that had these fixes if thats what it takes. DS3 is a game that is so close to being perfect that i'm willing to hold onto it and possibly pay for these changes. A game like Brink, or Hunted: TDF, I've completely given up on as they have so many problems it would take an entirely new game to remedy their issues. Obsidian has developed a game head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. And with that said, they not only have my $60 but my ongoing support and patience. I hope they can implement these things and make this a 10/10 game.
  12. Yes sir. You have the option to convert your single player campaign into a MP match at any time. From inside any campaign just hit start and select multiplayer. Wah lah you have a multiplayer match!
  13. Heck in the first few days of launch i've heard more from Obsidian than every single other developer combined that i've spent a significant amount of time on their boards. If we have patience and continue to post our constructive well thought out requests, Obsidian will respond.
  14. So you want downloadable content Totally agreed. I'll take DS3 DLC anyway it comes.
  15. Start a game. Open up the main menu and select "multiplayer". From there you can make it public or private, and invite your friends/xbox live party. With public selected, people choosing "find xbox live game" will be matched to your game. Private is, well private =D
  16. Makes sense. I'm in favor of anyone being able to enjoy the ballet of combat they've crafted in this game. So if thats what it takes for PC guys to get the most out of it, then please implement it The careful balance of building focus, using specials, and building power orbs to unleash the powerful attacks or defensive moves is perfect and I love it. The xbox controller setup is amazing for it as well. So yeah, go post this in the request thread I made. If we gain enough attention they just might do it =)
  17. I'm not a huge fan of "Baal runs" or that type of Dungeon Crawling experience. I am in favor of endless randomly generated dungeons to take my hero through. So far, the dungeons i've played through in DS3 are excellent. Enemies and bosses are great, and the dungeons are well thought out. I know this isn't a random dungeon game, but I do want more of what i'm getting now and I haven't even completed the game =)
  18. I don't know how this game will perform in sales or metacritic or whatever. What I can say as a gamer, and an employee in the gaming industry, is that Dungeon Siege 3 is significantly better than the garbage titles we've been seeing in 2011. And from what i've played is one of the best action/rpgs on the console. I certainly hope the game sells well. Obsidian deserves it, and it may give more incentive to patch in the few minor fixes the community wants. I'll be spreading the good news about this game for sure, I love it.
  19. I'm in favor of any DLC that gives: -More Loot -More Quests -More Levels -More Monsters Any or all of those 4 items in a DLC in this type of game and i'm totally up for it.
  20. Or any controller.. I have a Genius gamepad and works great.. but I insist.. with k/m it's just a thing of 1 hour or two and u get used to it. Both ways are playable.. of course keybinding will make this way easier.. so an update should fix that soon I hope. In my 10+ years that I was a PC gamer, I never had trouble figuring out controls to a perfection within the first 30 minutes of a game. I can't see DS3 being that much more difficult, or maybe modern PC gamers are spoiled?
  21. I haven't completed the game, but even so I can already say I encourage more content past the closing of the game. I'm always a fan of DLC in which the level cap is raised, and new very challenging high level content is added. New Game+ i'm also a fan of. A super hard version of the campaign with your hard worked on character. I wouldn't mind seeing more randomly generated enemies re-popping in the game world. Example: After you clear out a certain dungeon for a quest or two, it wouldn't be bad to have lingering random enemies if you returned to said dungeon (if it at all makes sense of course). These all sound like easy issues to fix via patch/DLC. Thus far DLC is a guaranteed purchase from me, I love this game. Yeah New Game+ or something similar would be great, I never want my Dungeon Crawler characters to see "the end".
  22. I wish everyone could experience this game on the Xbox 360 Controller. With it, the control layout is brilliant. No complaints from this Xbox guy. I'm sorry keyboard/mouse guys are having difficulty.
  23. I guess i'm one of those "console guys" with a whole boatload of I Disagree here. While I never played previous Dungeon Siege games which is perhaps my biggest offense, I was a long time PC gamer and hardcore Diablo/D2 player for a much longer period than i've been a console guy. I love Dungeon Siege 3. With the exception of the issues I posted in my other thread, I think this game is marvelous. I have no complaints about gameplay, graphics, sound, story, or anything else. This game is gorgeous, has absolutely zero bugs that i've seen, and is a blast to play. I'm sorry that the PC version isn't what you expected. If you got exactly what i'm playing on the Xbox except better looking (usually the case) then its really hard for me to see the angle of which your complaints originated. However re-reading the OP's statements, I see a bunch of PC elitest crap that i'm very much sick of seeing on every single message board I join.
  24. First off, if this thread stays peaceful and we end up with some great suggestions from the community here, I'd like to request a sticky. Now that I've spent a decent amount of time in game and on these forums, I see the few general complaints from the community which all sound relatively the same. First a bit of praise for Obsidian. I'm a huge Fallout: New Vegas fan, and i'm happy to say that Dungeon Siege 3 is one of the best releases this year. It is very well polished, looks and plays beautifully, and is a ton of fun solo and even more so in coop. I'm enjoying the variety of creature types and bosses, and I've played 3 of the 4 characters and enjoy each one (Reinhart is my boy though). If you asked me today, I'd still say Dungeon Siege 3 is a buyer if you're at all a fan of the dungeon-crawling action/rpg genre. Its got everything there plus a plethora of quests, and all of the side quests are a ton of fun. I'd also like to tip my hat to the sound team. The game sounds great, and the musical score is perfect. This is really a top-notch game and i'm happy I get to play it. Now for the few things I'd personally like to see changed. Keep in mind these are my personal observations, a couple of which have been repeated throughout the community so I think its safe to say they are in moderate demand. 1. The loot issue. This is an offender on a few fronts. Namely... -Loot drops clearly favor the hosts character. About 80% of the drops, and all of the high quality ones are for the host character. -No character import into a friends game. Without the ability to bring your toon into another friends world, the aforementioned loot issue really stings as its very difficult to build a gearset for a friend joining in late, especially as the levels get higher. For example, my companion is Anjali and she's now decently geared thanks to a bit of effort on my part. However my friend prefers Katarina, and when he joins as her she has nothing. Random junk. 2. The Multi-player camera issue. I'm not sure why Obsidian went with this choice. Anyone who's played MP knows what I mean, when a buddy joins your game, the camera angle shifts to a permanent drastic overhead camera that makes it very difficult to see. This quality of a game I don't see why each player can't have complete independent camera control. The same single player camera is perfect. You can still tether the characters together so they must adventure in the same area, thats fine with me. Just give us freedom of camera control and give back the ability to zoom if we wish. To me, these are the only 2 offenders. While I know on issue 1, you can keep a healthy supply of gold to purchase gear for a buddy if he joins or start a completely new game from scratch and run a static party (only play with those people on this save). These options are good ones, but this simple change could drastically increase the fun factor in DS3. The issue of the character import comes around in level difference. Taking my level 12 Reinhart into my buddies level 5 game would give us a significant advantage. However this has always been a drawing point for dungeon crawler games. Have your powerful buddy join you (if you so desire) and hold your hand throughout the story as you play catch up on exp. I figure the majority of the exp should go to the lower character with very little if any going to the higher level character until they are within a certain range (say, 2 levels?). Without character import, the loot tables need to be shifted in order to preserve the fun in coop. I don't think anyone wants their friends to play with them get less than second rate drops the entire game while their character prospers in blues and unique items. This is only my experience in 2 player coop, so 4 player coop I imagine would be extremely difficult to gear all 4 players. Basically, in MP coop you need to change the loot tables from favoring the host so much. I'm not a software programmer (yet), so I have no idea how difficult this kind of code would be to patch in. A loot table adjustment I would figure to be fairly easy. The character import, maybe not so much. The camera issue I would figure to be rather simple also, but again i'm not sure. I think if you patched in these 2 ideas, Dungeon Siege 3 would be an easy 9.5/10 or maybe even a 10/10 game, I really have that few complaints about it. This is an extremely fun game with a ton of polish, for this I thank you Obsidian. Fix these 2 issues, and your game is flawless. Discuss, and please keep this flame free. I don't care if you go troll in another thread, but this one is for serious well thought out ideas only. Complaining without attempt at resolution will accomplish nothing.
  25. I really have very few complaints about this game. I think after this post i'll make an official community request thread after this post. The pros of this game far outweigh the cons. The things I love about this game are too numerous for me to be anything but happy with this release. And in a sea of recent garbage releases this game really shines. This means I love Obsidian, for DS3 and for Fallout: New Vegas. So thank you Obsidian. Okay time for the request thread.
