  1. You realise that this would merely increase the base value by some amount, but have no effect on your clicking whatsoever?Whether your stats start at 0 and you have, say, 20 points to distribute or they start at 10 and you have 20 points to distribute, you still have 20 points to distribute and need the same number of clicks to do so. I will respond to this for the sake of clarity. As the game is currently, you start with 57 points to distribute which means 57 clicks are required to distribute them. If all stats were set to 10 at chargen, and assuming the same number of total stats, you would have 18 points to distribute. I tend not to have any stats below 10, so there would be 18 clicks. Final tally is 39 less clicks at chargen (57 - 18 = 39). Glad you're doing your part on this crusade to end carpal tunnel syndrome. Keep fighting the good fight!
  2. "He was stronger than he had guessed, and the free exercise of his powers in his own behalf had tapped unsuspected reservoirs of forces." ...
  3. I recognize the name Nathan Grayson. He's done quite a few write ups for Pillars of Eternity and Wasteland 2 among others.
  4. Its strange, I clicked on the blue highlighted object and got the description as I mentioned above (wonderful artwork btw) but all I got was the description itself and no options to do anything. ( Might be a bug then. Is the grappling hook still in your inventory?
  5. When you reach the chasm, press down on the tab bar. It should highlight an a object. When you click on it, a scripted interaction will occur where one of the available options is to use the grappling hook.
  6. Gromnir, maybe I need to define realism or grounded as it relates to fantasy art as to how I view it. I'm not alluding to a historical or real world sense, but more along the lines of believability in a practical sense. It's fantasy art. There will be embellishments and artistic license. I have absolutely no problems with that. What I don't like is the usage of jRPG style mega swords or shoulder pouldrons the size of Zaphod Beeblebrox's second head. There's elements of bare midriffs, b00bage, and überswordage in Manley and Sweet, but they are tastefully done. But overall, what I like about them, as well as Vance Kovaks, Gary Gianni, or Mark Schultz is that they are each in their own right very good artists -whose artwork I would purchase and display should I be able to afford it. I'm not necessarily educated enough in art history to be able to hold my own in an art debate in a video game forum, but I know what I like. PS I really like Kaz's work.
  7. I'm fine with this one -b00b plate + laser sword and all. It's a good painting. Sweet and Manley though are more grounded than some of the other fantasy artists. I know you're a fan of R.E. Howard. I'm assuming you picked up the Del Rey releases from a few years back? I'll use the illustrations from them as my litmus test as what's over the top or not. I think you'll agree that the art was very good -with strong, yet tasteful fantasy embellishments.
  8. My art preference is grounded more in practicality and realism. I agree though, of the bunch - the investigator is pretty snazzy. ... Tartantyco uploaded BG and IWD series portraits for use with PoE. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/67705-icewind-dale-2-portraits-for-pillars-of-eternity/?hl=icewind
  9. I believe Obsidian stated it wasn't going to be a $60 release. My guess is $40 or $50.
  10. itsjustsoup.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/pathfinder-iconics.jpg Throwing up a little inside. I am emphatically hoping Obsidian does not use these iconics as reference art to emulate for their Pathfinder work. The character art for Eder, Pallegina, Sagani, and the Orlan Detective approach IWD series quality. The in-game portraits are hit or miss for me. Hopefully we'll see more diversity in the upcoming beta builds. Maybe they should have worked in some Valian portraits earlier to include in the initial release beta build.
  11. UI programmers have bigger fish to fry as there are more glaring priorities that need to be addressed. I'm positive UI descriptions will be put in as we get further along in the beta process.
  12. There are two other duplicate threads. You posted in one of the others. Mods should perhaps combine the threads.
  13. Do grazing hits act as successful interrupts? I'd have tested it out myself but I'm suspecting that I'll be away from my rig the next few days.
  14. Dammit Grom. I'm just trying to plagiarize your ideas from your very own thread and pass then off as my own.
  15. Cool. It'll come handy -atleast until Josh, Tim, and crew decide to change the values.
  16. Essentially a bow armed high perception/high dexterity ranger could constantly be providing covering fire for your frontline tanks and take pot shots at dangerous spell casters. For this build, might may not even be all that important.
  17. Sounds to me then that interrupter builds could be very viable.
  18. Anyone figure out just what interrupts actually affect? Do they interrupt spells and special actions or do they also interrupt attacks as well?
  19. When we got our first glimpse of the Orlan Detective concept, the first thing that popped in my mind was Gabriel Knight and his theme playing in the background. My longshot fanboi fantasy is a riff/homage of this.
  20. By Directors Cut, do you mean the "Alan Smithee" extended version? The one that Lynch disowns? ... Justin, just curious but how far along are you with the music and sound effects?
  21. Having mass piles of corpses laying about on screen could cause a system resource drain thereby negatively affecting performance. I'm not familiar with Unity but that's usually a reason for that...aside from the cluttering issue.
  22. My guess is that these combat feedback logs and descriptors on character sheets is relatively low priority for the devs as they are devoting their resources on stability and other more glaring UI issues. Additionally, balance will be be tweaked and reworked up to the point of release, thus they aren't ready to devote too many resources on graphic numbers feedback until we are further along in the beta.
  23. Target the wood beetles first. They are nature's versions of glass cannons.
