I agree with everything Walsie is saying on this topic but I want to add a few points This is about the principle of a person revealing personal and confidential information about a country. Every single country in the world has information that it doesn't want shared with the world. This is how the system works and its the same globally, this is not a Western phenomena. Even if you don't like America how can you think that a person has the right to distribute anything that is marked as "Top Secret" or similar. Especially when that person happens to work for military intelligence. Quiet diplomatic channels are often used to resolve political issues. The countries involved don't want people finding out about the measures or the discussions around certain developments or discussions. For example why do you think John Kerry has asked both the Israeli's and the Palestinians to keep the latest peace talks out the press? And yet you are fine with Manning deciding to distribute any information irrespective of the consequences Finally would you be happier if I could show you that the leaking of cables had caused the loss of lives, is that what you really looking for. Death and destruction caused by Manning? Would you then agree what he did was wrong?

Shame Humanoid I imagine you had a tough childhood, did your parents refuse to let you play outside and insisted that you sit in front of the PC hacking away at games like Ultima and Kings Quest until you completed them. Was it a case of " no dessert for you until you've completed at least 6 levels of that FPS"?

or... stop posting personally identifiable/trackable information in clear-text like some mindless dolt? ... It just makes it so much easier for the crazies to move from spouting brain-farts to acting out whatever cognitive dysfunction is assailing them. We've had the Internet for a while now. How is this not the default no.1 rule. Yet there we go, spamming every orifice of social media with the minutiae of our daily activities like some faceless, adoring audience out there is gagging to hear about our last meal, bowel obstruction or hedonistic binge whilst expecting nothing bad could possibly happen. It's like watching a someone hug a lion. The butt-hurt post the mauling is always so dramatic and completely divorced of context. First off, we are now completely OT. Secondly, engaging trolls is the last thing we should do. You cannot win. Anyone who is actively displaying anti-social behavior is not going to play nice because you've taken the time to berate them. They've already demonstrated they lack any concept of social nicety, thus argument from decency is wasted effort. Given that this behavior is rarely self-correcting the *only* response is to ignore it. I agree that you shouldn't engage Trolls, but I am not talking about that. I am talking about people that believe what that saying when they make offensive and bigoted comments. So I stand by what I say, you need to challenge this type of opinion. I can give you many examples that demonstrate what I mean. You will see that this is not people trolling but really what they mean For example " Bioware games suck because they force homosexuality down our throats" Now we all know any Romance option in a Bioware game is optional and even then gay Romance is part of the choices and therefore that view is clearly wrong. So I would challenge anyone who made that comment as its smacks of homophobia

For starters he damaged US diplomatic credibility for decades to come. That's way more that can be said for any journalist. And damaging the leading country of Western ideology in anyway is a good thing because.... I guess you will would be happy with us following the Chinese mindset and methodology of running a country and views on foreign affairs and intervention

Are you taking one for the team and having sex with your boss? I get worried when people say " there boss is awesome"

lol, indeed you are confused. ME3 does take into account all major choices from ME2 and ME1. Have you played it at all? As for The Witcher, I call it a semi-RPG and it is this for many reasons. Regarding its storytelling, it's a lackluster RPG since most choices made in those games have no long term effect, and each game has very little story variation compared to Dragon Age or Mass Effect. Not to mention the completely one-dimensional character development, that isn't affected by dialogue choices at all. I'm not even talking about porting saves, but this also does next to nothing in The Witcher. I did play ME and I enjoyed the series. I wasn't fanatical about the games so I was one of those people who wasn't even that disappointed with the endings presented to Shepard in ME3. I thought they made sense under the circumstances Anyway I am just teasing you about what you said about the Witcher. As I mentioned previously we have to agree to disagree as I consider Witcher to be one of the best RPG that has ever been released. But end of the day we all have our opinions around what constitutes a good RPG and that's fine

You should read Hurlshots detailed post when he asked for input around how to deal with the situation around his family, everything is explained
-
I will say that I don't believe blood is thicker than water, I don't automatically assume that just because someone is family that's means you have to respect them. Respect and affection is earned and not a given when you become old enough to make your own decisions about how you feel about people

Agreed, ME2 had a cool ending and the last mission of the game was just one of the best things ever. I see where most of the hate comes from about ME3's ending, but I find it to be really exaggerated. Most people don't like how the choices provided to you at the end are unaffected by all of the choices you've made throughout all three games (which isn't 100% true but close enough). I for one saw this coming. I'm confused? Are you saying that the choices in the previous ME didn't make a difference in the final outcome of the last game? From what I've seen, the complaints stem from the fact that you're always presented with the same four decisions in ME3's ending, regardless of your choices in all of the previous games. And also, there isn't much closure at all after you've made that choice. But I thought you said one of the reasons that The Witcher didn't have real choices and consequences was the fact that that there no differences in the story from whatever choice you made in the previous game? You also said that you considered DA and ME to be good examples of RPG, but now you seem to be saying that ME suffered from the same gameplay design flaw as the Witcher? So I'm confused ?

"more good than most people ever do" Sure, whatever. Apart from the obvious issues that Walsie mentioned what good has come from Manning ever breaking the terms of military contract and putting the lives of thousands of people at risk? Oh wait, you are right. Due to Wikileaks Assange has been curtailed and is now holdup in a embassy with almost no freedom. So you correct something positive did come from it

I hear you but " hope springs eternal in the human breast"

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/08/21/so-i-am-feeling-cautiously-optimistic-about-dragon-age/#more-165514 Guys sorry if this video in the article has been posted before but if you haven't seen it you really need to watch it. I will be really surprised if anyone isn't really excited after watching it

You cannot win. Accept this and ignore it *or* waste stomach lining and time fretting about it. Which is the correct approach? "You cannot win" is such a nebulous and ineffectual statement Its not about winning, it never is. Its about doing the right thing and not accepting blatant rudeness and bigotry. Its about you posting your disapproval when someone is clearly offensive. Its not hard to do once you get use to it.

He's being released pending a retrial. His legal team appealed his first conviction and won the appeal. The court threw out the first conviction on the grounds that the first court had no judicial standing. The court did not acquit him of the charges, so the charges from his first trial still stand but he will be retried in a different court. http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/17/world/meast/egypt-mubarak-retrial I must say Kgambit you are well informed about Egypt. What's your connection to Egypt, are you Egyptian?

Even though that is possible I doubt it as the Assad government is already denying that they used Chemical weapons but are admitting to killing people in the area

Sounds like a plan, can I be your accomplice ?

Apparently he could have received a much more harsh sentence so I suppose he can be grateful. Also he could be released after serving just a third of his sentence. Add to that time already served and he could be out in 10-12 year with good behaviour?
-
Well that's the interesting dynamic with him being released, I think you'll find he isn't enemy number 1 anymore. The country is polarised with people either supporting or against the Muslim Brotherhood. And I'll wager Mubarak will align himself with the military government and surprisingly he does have supporters so I think he will be fine, but we need to watch this spot

In a way it makes sense as it will add to the view that the current military backed government does support the rule of law. Mubarak has been found innocent of the corruption charges so he should be released if there are no further charges ?

This is a very serious development if its true. If Assad has used Chemical weapons this should be ample reason for direct Western military involvement and it can't come soon enough.
