  1. actually, I've found my gray dwarf to be an amazing tank, he has all kinds of immunity to different effects like poison (which will be handy against Yuan-Ti). and +2 to constitution doesn't hurt either (went with cleric and made him a Warpriest later for his cool auras) my secondary tank is a fighter/barbarian half-orc. he has a ton of HP and hits like a truck, but since he doesn't have a shield, his AC is a bit low, so high attack enemies can give him a beating. Dwarven Defender does look like a good tank, but I could never meet the requirements to take it, so I have no experience with it and like I said, no need to make one character with overland map navigation in mind, since you will get a ranger very soon (also, if you then take Leadership with any of your characters on level-up, you can get a sixth party member) with high stats in survival etc. who's perfect for that. concentrate on your long-term goals instead (like crafting, if you're into that, your future prestige classes etc.)
  2. oh, the irony. here I am playing NWN 2 and wishing it was made on Troika's engine used for TOEE, or at least on Infinity, while some people feel the need to remake Infinity games on NWN's engine...
  3. you'd better track down Josh Sawyer, George Zietz and a bunch of other and ask them on their Formspring. you stand a better chance of getting your answers there
  4. Spellcasters are very powerful at higher levels, but I don't remember how far I got my sorc in the OC. in MOTB my sorc owned. but powerful melee chars are just as important (at least to act as damage sponges, and for times when you need to hit something hard with your +3 sword, like a vampire or something) the thing with SoZ is you don't need any cool chars in the beginning, so I went with 2 fighters, a dwarven cleric and a sorc for crowd control. at lv 4 I switched one fighter to rogue (then got 2 levels in assassin for his feats and went back to rogue), the other fighter went barbarian for 2 levels after which I made him a berserker. party is lvl 12 currently, and most encounters pose no threat oh, and so far I haven't had any real use for my rogue except for sneak attacks. in the very first town you get to recruit a ranger, which has very high survival/hide/move silently/search. and for opening locks/triggering traps I use my barbarian and summons respectively
  5. playing Storm of Zehir for the first time, and it's awesome. easily the best party-based dungeon crawler since IWD. I can't believe it took me so long to finally try it.
  6. interesting fact. New Vegas is the only modern game I've dumped more than 200 hours into. last time I was so obsessed with a game was back in Morrowind. New Vegas is easily the best CRPG of the last 10 years
  7. since we're showing off our NWO chars, here's my lv 42 rogue main
  8. exactly. these days I keep noticing how I value shorter games that don't require weeks of dedication to beat. one weekend every couple of months is the longest I can endure before I lose interest in a game
  9. man, either I'm getting old or what, but the only game I keep going back to is Fallout 2. and sometimes New Vegas. everything else is a one-playthrough deal for me. hell, with most games I don't even bother to get to the end. still have to beat BG, MOTB and IWD 2, and I don't think I ever will...
  10. you can, some special tasks have purple items as rewards
  11. wow, you have a crafting syndicate there already :D you should try EVE, it's pretty much all economics as far as I understand, and you can make real money in it
  12. there's nothing to miss, though, he just lists his 5 favorite games
  13. wait, Starcraft 2 is turn-based now?
  14. nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! that could be just me, but 200 for a Founder's Pack is a bit too much. if you're happy with what you got for i, though, who's to say you shouldn't have bought it? that panther does look pretty cool
  15. well, at least you got a kitty cat, in some form
  16. I've hit a wall with my rogue. I wanted to try and get through only doing quests. and right now I'm on the island in the sky, I'm level 41 and I can't progress, too weak. the flippin' lizards kill me in 3-4 hits, and there's always at least 4 of them bunched up, can't even navigate the area without getting my ass kicked
  17. Unity all the way, I guess
  18. oh my, that interpreter is awful... I wish there was a transcription of Feargus's speech.
  19. I can't even remember my first character. was it barbarian? I do remember my first group, though. it lasted a month, and we never got anywhere, kept crawling through endless dungeons killing throwaway mobs
  20. what are you talking about? GTA IV is the best game in the series (yes, even better than Vice City)
  21. looks so much like recent Final Fantasy games, whoa...
  22. fight the urge! if I were to spend 200$ on that founder's pack it would be for the Drow playable character
  23. don't feel too bad, you're one of the reasons games like this even exist we should be thanking you
  24. in other games crafting is usually the best way to make money, not sure if it's applicable to NWO, though. my highest profession is lvl 6 (leadership, and I use it strictly to make Astral Diamonds.
  25. well, it's nice to be able to craft without having to log into the game. saves you *some* time, at least saves you some hassle Cleric is the best solo class. it has great damage dealing abilities, it has some very powerful healing abilities. with another cleric as your companion you're virtually indestructible. Wizard is the toughest class to play in terms of controls, but it's probably the most fun class. I have Cleric at 32 and Rogue at 36, and while Rogue I like a lot more, it's very tough to solo with, I go through health bottles like crazy. Cleric on the other hand is self-sufficient but a bit boring if playing with a group
