  1. FFXI used to be an amazing game, the last bastion for hardcore players. too bad the devs have ruined it.
  2. nicked from Codex: http://video.unity3d.com/video/6943980/unite-2012-the-power-of-the has some Wasteland 2 footage (30 minutes in)
  3. tell that to Valve btw, an interesting quote lol, a foolproof method
  4. the only countries where the numbers were that high - China and Russia in the mid 90s. stating that the global PC market suffers from 90-95% piracy rates is just plain stupid
  5. oh boy... I don't even know what to think
  6. oh, top-down perspective... meh
  7. there's actually a feature-length indie film that fits your description. it's good too! I just can't remember the title...
  8. well, if you provided some insider info or something, would make things more interesting :D a dungeon crawler is always good, especially if it's turn-based. but since I don't own an iPhone or an iPad...
  9. not enough to spend it on improving ArmA 3. they're cutting stuff out due to budget constraints
  10. didn't play DA2 at home, only tried it at a friends (some mid-game content, mostly revolving around that elven tribal girl). and all I can say: encounter/mission design in DA2 was utter ****e. nowhere near as good as DAO. man, the one area I really hated in DAO was that dwarven underground fortress, and whole of DA2 plays exactly like that one area... at least DAO had mildly interesting side-quests and unique encounters.
  11. Toy Story and Fargo are on it, 'nuff said. the movie has to be 10 years old to be considered. so Titanic's been eligible for 5 years already.
  12. it's not in NFR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Film_Registry) therefore it's not "one of the greatest".
  13. lol Titanic - one of the greatest movies, you're kidding
  14. http://kotaku.com/5932338/brave-developers-making-a-proper-historical-rpg
  15. doesn't mean they'll be making STALKER games. they could just hog the IP to deny other companies the chance EDIT: here's some inside info from a guy close to Grigorovich (owner of the IP) "Bethesda doesn't own the rights to the STALKER brand, only the rights to make video games based on it." "it's a multi-platform game, made using Bethesda's own technology (Gamebryo?) by a studio already familiar with the technology (maybe Obsidian, maybe the Fallout 3 team, maybe somebody else)"
  16. hey! so letting them spoil Fallout was OK, but when it came to your precious STALKER, suddenly it's too good for Bethesda
  17. the majority of soldiers are males mainly because they are better prepared physically, and have it easier when it comes to carrying heavy stuff for miles. a lot of young women just can't cut it because they're not adequately prepared for the job. I do agree that some armies have interesting regulations concerning women (like the fact that women can't be in infantry, but still end up fighting, when they're on patrol for example) that shouldn't be there. and then there's the unwanted relationships between male and female soldiers. what I'm getting at is: it's not because men are "expendable", that most armies are "men only". it's because it's easier to control a bunch of men when there are no women around. there are strictly female combat units (Israel) for example, there are attempts at giving women more options (German Army's KSK allows women to try out, but I'm afraid no woman ever will)
  18. it's easy to say "they should've" with the magical power of hindsight at your disposal. but, having the AD&D license and the Infinity engine, I don't think they would've ever considered anything other than an RPG. if anything, they showed you can push the perceived limits of the genre in at least one direction.
  19. You see, the original wasn't a perfect game. While the sum of its features made for one hell of a game, the interface, for example, I hated. it was very confusing and difficult to figure out back in the Internet-less days. not to mention the graphics are really outdated, and while I would play it on a handheld, I don't want to have to look at those sprites on my 19" monitor. man, I'd kill for a completed Dreamland Chronicles
  20. wasn't there a way to run Infinity Engine games on Android?
  21. why would we want the PS license? I'd rather see an original setting (or a setting that they already have rights to)
  22. the focus in Civ games isn't on TB combat though, since you can finish the game without warring with other countries => never seeing combat. with XCom it's different, combat is the game's main attraction
  23. only if you thought it was the greatest game ever (which it wasn't). they would only need to make it as good as MotB, would be enough for a Kickstarter project (the scope and all). since they have Onyx now, and a lot of unused assets from Dungeon Siege 3, I'd imagine a good chunk of work would be just designing the progression and rearranging objects in the editor. so they can focus on a good combat system this time and make this new game what PS:T should've been always: a great dungeon crawler with a cryptic story and tons of C&C
  24. game looks pretty sweet, actually. the only thing I really dislike is the lack of grids on the floor in TB mode
  25. wait, they aren't implementing destructible environments? yeah, but it's only one base I wonder how it will affect the Geoscape
