RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground
by "platformer" I meant combat in general, the running and gunning, it's basically a Contra "on steroids" as I see it.

that's the problem with combat in Mass Effect 2: the game tries too hard to be a platformer. and fails miserably

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite thread on Obsidian
there is a million plot holes still, it's not that they don't explain the universe to you. they just begin telling something and stop in the middle, jump to another topic and never go back to what they were telling you in the first place. it's everywhere and it's infuriating.

I don't agree, while it wasn't challenging and you could even say it was cheesey, it certainly isn't a terrible boss fight. c'mon, a human/alien crossbreed straight from Contra or Metal Slug, that doesn't do any damage and dies in 5 minutes, that's not what I'd call a boss

ok, I'll give it a try. thanks. as for the final boss: nothing can be worse than the ME2 final boss

I got the impression Risen is very small, only one island with one town on it, right? I hope it's not too short, although I've seen somewhere, that the level cap is 50, probably means there's a lot to do, if you can get 50 levels

Fallout: New Vegas
guys, stop it! all this waiting is torture enough already

Fallout: New Vegas
I never implied that it did. I said, there's no survival in survival horror games, and New Vegas with it's need for food/drink/sleep seems like a shot at a real survival game that never was. I dream about the times when such a game gets released.
-
Fallout: New Vegas
ahaha, yeah that would open new possibilities. whenever I hear the term "survival-horror" I imagine a game where you have to actually survive, protect your home, keep it hidden, look for food, gas, look after your companions etc. like "I Am Legend: The Game", I wish New Vegas was that kind of game: a post-apocalyptic survival on a side-note: anyone know if there's a mod to turn off the spirit-eater thing in MotB?

Fallout: New Vegas
wha... 1 hour equals 1 minute in real time? I thought more like 10 minutes. anyway, there should be some consequences to running around for 8 hours without eating. ilike your character is hungry and he's trying to make his way past a supermutant patrol using stealth. and when you're right behind them, your stomach goes "burrrp", revealing your position to muties.
-
Fallout: New Vegas
oh, that sounds... stupid why 8 hours? I'd expect at least every 2, and if you're "suppressing" the hunger, you get penalties. MotB system seems more logical, the only difference is you don't have to "hunt" your food

Fallout: New Vegas
ho-kay, I have no idea how food in STALKER works. never thought I'd play STALKER, but you just made me change my mind.

Witcher 2 'leaked' video
btw. is there a place where I can see all the cards? I missed half of 'em on my playthrough

Fallout: New Vegas
I was playing Mask of the Betrayer the other day and got to the point, where you get that green meter on the side of the screen. In just a couple of hours I got so sick of the spirit-eating mechanic, that in a state of rage I deleted the game and all my saves. yeah, I know that MotB is a great game, but I just couldn't bring myself to playing it. and it just hit me: this is probably exactly how Obsidian is going to handle food in New Vegas (at least for the hardcore mode). it bothers me...

APB shutdown: This what happens when you make an MMO
heh, that's probably it, I could never see the difference between sorts of beer. now, a good cognac is something completely different but yeah, that was a bad example, I can't find the words to explain it, let's just drop the subject I guess there really are some things you can argue about forever and not move one inch

APB shutdown: This what happens when you make an MMO
eh, maybe I just fail at making good examples, never mind then

APB shutdown: This what happens when you make an MMO
well, there are some things, like weed or whiskey for example, that just makes you (ok, me) wonder: what's so great about it?

APB shutdown: This what happens when you make an MMO
games like WoW tend to get very repetitive very early into the game. can't blame the developers for it, since it's essential to their commercial success. but I do wonder sometimes, why would so many people want to play WoW, when it's so shallow... it's like enjoying a torture, a masochistic thing rather than just fun.

Civilization V
oh, when somebody brings up Panzer General, I can't help but feel excited too

APB shutdown: This what happens when you make an MMO
many games are addictive. I think Monte said it all with "prior to WoW they weren't really into games and apart from WoW they're not really into anything else". that's the only reason WoW is so big. none of my friends play it, because it's kinda weak. not hardcore enough for us
