I'm halfway through IWD2 and it's awesome. I wanted to take screenshots but kinda forgot because the game just won't let me breathe for a second in-between epic fights

I'm not saying what country it was, but I'm still waiting for my Fallout 3 Collectors Edition to appear in stock

oooh neat! a competition. I can't remember anything about the Watcher's Keep thing, buuut I'd want to participate. not sure about the gear, pick something stylish, so I'd be pimpin'. anyway. I happen to have a lvl 30 drow paladin left over from my ad n d days. I guess we can make it a middle of his career. if there are no drows in WK then just make him human with my avatar as the portrait. fighter 4/paladin xx (originally he was a ranger turned paladin, but I'm afraid doing it this way in BG will hurt the party), not sure if you need me to tell you his stats, but his lvl 1 attributes looked something like this: str 17/dex 13/con 12/int 16/wis 16/cha 14 (my DM gave me 3 tries to roll 'em, this was the best I could do) - everything extra goes into charisma, naturally. originally he was a dual-wielding paladin with all the necessary feats to make it work. but feel free to change that to your liking. for the sake of role playing I had to make a lawful evil drow ranger, exiled from his city he decided to follow in Drizzt's footsteps and try his luck on the surface. long story short he met a paladin of Lathander (iirc) who wasn't immediately repelled by Shiver's (yep, that was his name, feel free to change it) looks. they grew to be friends and took part in a couple of campaigns together. under paladin's influence, being lawful and intelligent, Shiver shifted towards the 'good' alignment. during one of the missions, in the outskirts of Raven's Bluff (iirc) his paladin friend got killed. his last wish was for Shiver to embrace Lathander and so he did. Shiver swore to protect the innocent. he also wears his friend's full-plate armor as a memorabilia. never takes it off. from that day he would travel wherever help was needed. of course he didn't become paladin right away. while he was in Amn, it was actually in Baldur's Gate where he approached priest of Lathander and took up on a bunch of quest to receive their blessing. he succeeded and stuck to the Sword Coast for the time being, in his never ending quest for world peace.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground

hmmm, I want a new Syndicate game so bad I don't mind. but maybe they'll make it an action-rpg further down the road -
boxing gloves in Fallout will be a constant reminder of my long-lost ear. I'd rather have the Power Fist

Lets Play The Temple Of Elemental Evil

oh my god, just googled "CO8 patch". I am overwhelmed. first of all I can't find a working link. second, it seems you can't just get the latest version and install it, you have to apply 'em all one by one. this is madness... Troika sure sucked at bug-fixing, if it took the community years to get the game working smoothly -

haha, no I don't, that .gif suits me nicely wth? I was sure Borderlands was their follow-up to Left for Dead. and I think I know why: I was sure that Gearbox and Valve are the same thing (thanks to Opposing Force probably) -

well, "Valve once worked on an action rpg" sounded like Valve haven't made anything else but shooters ) -

what about Borderlands? it's an action-rpg in my book (well, that's 'cause Diablo gets to be an rpg so it's only fair Borderlands does too) -

it is patched, guess two patches weren't enough I spent two hours running around the starting location gathering quests and now I have to start all over again... I should just try Icewind Dale 2 instead. -

ugh, a quick question: so I took my party to the first area with enemies (that moat thing), and there's not a single enemy I could loot. I mean they all drop dead, I click on the body and nothing happens. is it supposed to be this way or is it a bug? -
you mean choosing missions in any order? I'm with you on this one, the things developers have to sacrifice to make it look ok...
-
when I said "curse" I meant that some developers try *too* hard to prolong their game's life by sticking a few (more often - a lot) plot-forks in it. this approach to making games has got to go imho

hmmm? I loved the final battle in BG2. and the one in BG2.5 was even better (I played on hard though). and then comes ME with some sort of a zombie that jumps around without doing any damage. it was a shooting gallery, really. maybe I missed something but I can't say Mass Effect had any kind of boss (well, maybe that ancient thing on one of the planets can be considered a boss, but that's about it) edit: heh, I played some games from start to finish over 20 times. not because they were made to be played that much. because those were great games. but you can't help getting curious when a game shows it's double-layered. and if the game has an interesting story I want to follow but the game design is ATROCIOUS and the process brings only frustration - this just makes me want to crack the designer's skull open. wtf was he thinking? this is especially true for AP. there's no way I'm replaying it. I'll download a couple of walkthroughs instead.

replayability is a modern curse. I don't want to play through a game more than once to unlock different endings or w/e. only if the game itself is a friggin' masterpiece. usually it's not. I'm playing Alpha Protocol right now and it's really frustrating that a) the game doesn't have a normal save game mechanic, b) as a result whenever I make a "bad" choice I more often than not can't reload and try again without having to blaze through a dozen minions again. it's like the game is mocking me, "you want to see how it would've turned out if you had clicked that button a little faster? START OVER dumb-ass!"
