Fallout: Las Vegas Survivors' Journal
sorophx replied to Maria Caliban's topic in Computer and Console
wow that didn't ork for me, probably I was too far into the negative reputation, I managed to get past the normal guards to Eddie, but as soon as he saw me he started firing at me I found a couple of recruitable characters (Santiago, the doctor in the Mormon's Fort, Rex) but I don't want to let Boone go, well, I'll take Rex eventually, but only after I get my Power Armor Enclave issue -

I want to warn anybody, who tries the Chef's quest in Camp McCarran. he will ask you to fix a machine of his and will give a list. I gathered everything and still the game would keep saying I was missing some parts. I ended up using Repair (80 is required), but even after bringing him the word, he didn't seem to acknowledge it. not sure what's wrong, but you might want to skip the whole quest altogether. -
New Vegas is channeling Fallout 2, man. and it has "Van Buren" written all over it.

I went to Primm right after Goodsprings and it was a walk in the park the town itself has 5-6 bandits, and they're scattered around so you don't have to deal with more than 2. and then I went up to the second floor via the rollercoaster and cleared the whole building no problem. -
I think the skill-based checks don't sow unless you have that skill at an appropriate level. I think that's because you shot it in the head. I haven't seen *too* many invisible walls, but even so, that surely doesn't prove obsidz are bad designers. so far the game has been nothing short of brilliant

I like geckos mirelurks are in the game btw, sort of. they're a lot nastier here though. as for Vault 34, I don't remember seeing a human there...

so, I've entered Vault 3 and now I don't know what to do here, but there seem to be many loose ends, and I can't figure out how to tie them all up. first the guards mistook me for a Khan and let me walk around freely. I found the Ranger, Anderson, and persuaded him to leave the killing to me. there's also a bunch of slaves who I can set free, they gave me the Overseer's password in return. but do I have to kill every Fiend if I want to set them free? there's also two named NPCs, some David character, who won't speak to me, and the leader. I killed the leader for the helmet and the game informed me, that I failed a quest "raba daba honeymoon", I decided to reload and bought his helmet for 200 caps instead. so, I guess, the slaves and the ranger were there only to make it possible to finish the quest with a char that doesn't have Speech at 75. but what is this mysterious quest about and where can I get it? -
wow, a Ripper? is that a mod?

oh, I don't know. some of the dungeons here make me feel like I'm playing a survival horror game (Vault 34, hi!). and it's not like they're not letting you explore, it's just like in F2: sidequests pull you away from the plot to make the game last longer

yeah, there's a couple of similar characters, they're scripted to approach and start a conversation no matter what, usually they pop up in the middle of a battle btw I have 30 caps, anybody saw this undead collector yet? -

oh, tahnks! I didn't notice any arrows I'm stuck on a quest I really want done, it's in Camp McCarran. something about investigating Legion spies. I talked to that woman in the interrogation room and did the sequence with the prisoner prior to taking the quest, now I'm getting the feeling these are linked, and I broke it... anyway, she gives me a key to the control tower and asks to check it out (at night, I think). I come there at night and nothing happens, the only thing in the room you can interact with is a "talk radio", but when I "e" it, nothing happens... anyone have any tips? EDIT: I think I got it, checked the minimap (yes, can you imagine?), it shows a second door, that I can't find. looks like a bug. probably mixed up the portals for the doors or something -
I get this all the time, not only when picking up/using stuff. also, I don't like how the game forces you to level up once you ding. I've not tried canceling it yet, but it makes sence really, if it doesn't allow that. still hate it

if I recall correctly, it was possible to advance the plot without shooting a single round all the way up until the Strip. so, yeah, my guess is, you can rush through it. just hit lvl 16, guns, locks, science, speech - all at 80, sneak at 60. gonna bump sneak to 80 and then I don't know what to do next. the Bloody Mess perk is broken, now it doesn't just make enemies explode, it actually gives bonuses to damage. on the other hand Sniper is ruined. seriously, VATS is useless (I remember using it in F3 only in close quarters combat, it was easy to kill supermuties with it, but now I don't even bother with VATS, the game's a lot easier without it) not sure why all the hate for the writing, it's definitely on par with F2. maybe KOTOR2 or MOTB are still better in this regard, but Fallout was always a completely different game. also, the exploration is done exactly like in F3, with the only difference: Obsid's level designers actually know what they're doing. the only thing I absolutely hate is - what some of you already said - the minimap, it's atrocious, completely useless. I really wish someone made a mod for it. the second issue I have with the game - the inventory on trading: I wish there was a way to sort stuff when you barter... -
enemies get stuck all the time, that's why I only engage large groups from a cliff that's the reason for "hovering" btw, NPCs need a way to overcome obstacles

ahaha, yeah, the second I heard "deathclaws" I was well on my way to Primm never thought I'd encounter them so early into the game btw, anyone tried the implants they give at the New Vegas Clinic? I'm curious how Endurance affects the total number of implants you can get. and it's definitely cheaper than in F2. 8000 caps to become a Terminator - sign me up. -

by the way, speaking of the Strip: I made my way inside without paying or talking to anyone. took the monorail from Camp McCarran, took me straight to the casinos. not sure if it's a bug or a feature -
what the hell are they smoking? that psychologist student needs serious psychiatric treatment. as for F3 being better than all other Fallout games combined - I'm left speechless anyway, I found 2 very big and, potentially, broken quests, and it breaks my heart...

where is it? actually I traveled through deathclawland, managed to aggro 4 of them, took down 2 before they splattered my guts all over the place. there were at least 10 of them, I decided to sneak past them... adult deathclaws are friggin' huge, scare the crap out of me. anyone recall seeing a shovel, by any chance? I really want the Gravedigger perk -
