  1. I doubt a wand would've caught the toy, but I think a proper walk-through metal detector could've worked.
  2. I can't find anyone selling the same -40mm springs that I used in my car to lower it, anywhere. There are tonnes of coilovers available though, so it looks like I have to rebuild the rearend to coilovers. Which is not a bad thing technically, but not what I wanted to spend my money on.
  3. Imagine the shock an horror of the operator...
  4. I went to the garage and changed to my summer tyres. On the way back to drop off my father, we suddenly heard a weird scraping sound, turned out one of the bands that keeps the petroltank in place had rusted through and was dragging on the ground. Not too bad, not a hard job to fix, not to expensive. Continued the last 500 metres until we were at my fathers place. Jacked the car up and suddenly heard a clanging noise, both looked at each other with a WTF expression, bent down and looked underneath the car. The left rear spring was lying on the ground instead of sitting in it's place. ****. Rusted through and broken in both ends.
  5. It's 20C here. I'm ****ing done already, no more summer. Give me winter again, I'll take the slush and sleet. ****. This. ****.
  6. Oh I wish it was a Beetle, I've always wanted a Porsche, that'd made my year instead of day
  7. Revenge of the Fifth is here, so... I'm watching Disney-movies tonight.
  8. Yep. Yep. And those dummies are an awful lot shorter than I am... And we had two people in the back seat too. It was terrifying enough that I didn't care about the humiliation.
  9. Heh, hands down, the worst car I've had the displeasure of riding in was my friends Peugeot 206CC, that he used to carpool me and two other coworkers with. 40km every day in that frigging shoebox and he insisted on running cab down during summer. I've never feared so much for my life in a car ever, I felt safer when mapping my dads engine doing 250km/h in an old 740, no cage. Had we flipped everything above my shoulders would be gone. Sounds like a lovely place
  10. Typically I'd say I need it from May to September, but yeah, Gorth ain't wrong
  11. Went and filled the AC system on my car. It had 100 grams out of the roughly 1000 it needed to work properly. It's downright unpleasant to run it on minimum now
  12. People are woefully unaware of the size of their vehicles aswell. It's very noticeable when people are parking, taking turns or at a meeting spot on a single lane road. I've watched Cleetus McFarlands youtube all day. Made a playlist of all his drag and drive videos and have been drooling over the view on Rocky Mountain race week. Makes me think about getting American Truck Simulator, and wishing there was a Drag and Drive game
  13. Russia doesn't want to frame anyone, they want deniability, fear, uncertainty, division and doubt in the EU.
  14. You're not getting the big picture here, and you're not looking at it from their view. They completely FUBARed the EU energy market this way, and them keeping the valves closed didn't lessen our support for Ukraine in any meaningful way in the month that they had kept the pipeline closed. Germany also wants to get rid of their dependence on Russian gas, greatly lessening the value of the pipeline itself making it already dead in the water as it was.
  15. I'd also like to add, that from a Russian perspective, showing the EU that a large part of our energy infrastructure is vulnerable to Russian attacks without them actually verbally threatening us, and without attacking something that doesn't belong to another country, is a good way to having people waver in their support for the Ukraine war. We have thousands of kilometres of electrical cables in the waters of the Baltic Sea. The reason why Sweden has ludicrous powerbills (Without having any gaspowered plants), personally going from paying about 0.6 SEK/0.05€, to 2.75 SEK/0.24€ is because we are connected to Germany and by EU accord have agreed to keep a certain amount of power available for export at all times. Guess what that has done to public opinion about standing united with EU? Let's just say that the Swedish Democrats anti-EU rhetoric sounds good right about now.
  16. It's ****ing expensive for the EU to buy gas from not-pipeline sources, it hurts us more economically than it does Russia to repair it. And they'll want us to lift sanctions if they are to repair it so they can "get workshop conditions". Noone in the UN is going to vote through a Russian proposed anything as things stand, and Sweden, Denmark and Germany are already doing investigations into it, which likely is viewed as good enough. As things stand right now, there's no proof that Russia is actively doing energy extortion on the EU, while still costing the EU a ****tonne of money and ****ing over poor countries like Pakistan by raising gasprices everywhere else. They did that for several months already, and the EU was getting fed up with their BS. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/gazprom-nord-stream-1-gas-stay-shut-until-turbine-fault-fixed-no-timeline-given-2022-09-02/
  17. Well, because now they can't turn them on, leaving the EU without an easy and cheap way to get natural gas. More headaches for EUs energy market, hurts economically. Theres no actual proof the Russians did it either and so it's not the same fallout as if they kept doing their "Oh, well, it'd be a shame if during our routine maintenance on this old pipeline found another problem and had to keep it closed even longer..."
  18. My father is trying to get my Vega 64 to work in windows 7 for him, I think I'm going to have him fix the trailer light connector on my car in exchange for sitting down with his computer and fixing it for him. Atleast my windows install isn't bugging me to upgrade to Win 11, probably because I don't have the TPM. I think there's still a way to get it to install, bypassing stuff, but I don't want more malware.
  19. I am dissapointed
  20. It's sort of a tradition in Sweden to buy boxes of chocolate for christmas to have the family munch from. One of the most divisive is the rum-raisin one, except in my family, because I end up eating them all Summertime I tend to buy rum-raisin ice cream And no; We don't have any ketchup flavoured chocolate bits
