Definetly, it's up to the GM to make sure everyone gets a bit of fun. It does get a bit tricky with some of the written adventures though, the one we play right now (storm king's thunder) has very hard but few combat encounters, wich hardly makes my Warlock shine, while the Wizard and Paladin can go to town for all they care and not worry about saving any strength. (Warlocks strength is quick recovery, but you only get a couple of slots of high levels per short rest)

They've improved the others some, and druids and clerics need some planning ahead, they've removed the ability to stack buffs until you're blue in the face by having casters "concentrate" on one spell at a time (With a couple of exceptions), but they still reign supreme. That said, it can still be fun to play some of the "weaker" classes.

You should watch gog.com too, they've got it aswell.

I couldn't agree more, it's been years, and despite the clunky PC gameplay I remember it fondly for how great the storytelling was. I also really appreciated the fact that the game let you be as psychotic a motherf as the people you came across, doing all manners of horrible things to them, just to then go and pick up a septic tank to ferilize the local neighbourhood.

Not as extreme as in 3.5, but yes, they're very powerful compared to the others.

Really loved 2 & 3 aswell, IV I didn't really feel a thing for, it was way to looney tunes for me to like it, they ditched any of the serious tones from the second that I liked so much and way overboard. I really, really liked the trailer, but that might be because of the theme music. I reckon the game itself will mostly make me go "mehh..." Not to mention that PS4 bit, no mention about PC.

If you like Brave New World, you might like Karin Boye Kallocain.

Too early for me yet, I'm going to change in a couple of weeks at the earliest. I'm using friction tyres so I don't have to worry about the date really, but I sort of want to wear out these ****ty friction ones so I can motivate buying new studded ones next winter.

Spoke to a friend today about fixing a car for my coworker, netting him some much needed money. "What the actual **** dude, he's a sandnigger!" The guy's born and raised in Sweden, speaks better Swedish than my racist friend and has an taxpaying job contributing to society. So much for his rants about only disliking "bad immigrants". Well, 600$ less for my friend and a really, really awkward saying goodbye to my coworker. Not looking forward to monday.

Awesome trailer, but... a sequel? Already? What the hell? Didn't they release this last year?

Is there a problem using 6 sided dice in pen and paper games?
Azdeus replied to slopesandsam's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
The one drawback to those exploding dice is that they sometime take ages to roll, atleast in Eon & Neotech (The Swedish games I've talked about). I never got to play the old SW game, since the 3.5 version was out when we started looking into it, but their latest iteration has some über speshul dices. They follow the normal variations but each and every one has symbols instead of numerals. Ofcourse you get a conversion guide, but you really have to buy their special dices to avoid headache. Fumbles can be fun, I managed to lop my own head of in Eon once. But they can generate some really tense moments if the GM handles them well. Eon and Neotech generated fumbles if you rolled more than two 6's on the first hand and failed with your skillcheck. A REALLY skilled character had 20 in his favoured skill, a normal one had 15-16, and a normal difficulty skillcheck was 3D6, so fumbling was quite common. You did'nt add the values of the 6's to your roll, but since they explode into two dice that is little comfort. Yes and no, when we had the rules and hitlocations memorized a combat encounter took around one hour to play out. You weren't limited in your actions but for how many extra dices you dared roll and you had quite alot of combat manouvers to attempt, so you felt alot more engaged than I've ever done in more simple games. Our DnD encounters take about as long, but instead of really engaging and trying to get it to play out well in your head, you just roll that dice and see what happens, with some rare exceptions. One really has to put more effort into making the fights interesting. Haha! Nice! The magic system for that Swedish game was more of a thesis in how magic would work than an actual ruleset, magic was pretty useless as combat magic, but quite powerful if prepared well. It was possible to do similar things as a "nuke", the rules allowed it, but you'd have to venture into "crazy prepared" territory and years of work to get there. The fluff for the magic was really well done too, there were several theories and lines of thought put into it, wich made for some awesome roleplaying moments when you debated your mates on magical theory! Ahh, sounds like the rule system for the Firefly RPG, but I love the sound of having a pack of cards for some extra effects. -

There are a few D6 "roll under" games out there aswell, even if I can only recall two Swedish ones ontop of my head. "ObT6" is a Swedish rule system, as they call it, or "Obegränsad Tärning 6"/"Unlimited Dice 6" where 6's explode into two D6, until you roll no more 6's. This can be a source of great fun (Damage) or massive tears (Skill checks). While it's great fun to roll 178 damage with three base dice, with a damage system that is ludicrously detailed and has "descriptors" that sometimes puts Fallout AND Dark Heresy to shame, rolling two dies ("Easy difficulty") when your average skill level is 15 can still be nervewracking. I'm going to keep on rambling, because I really love this ruleset, every 10 damage you do means you do an "Special damage" to your target, you have 26 different hitlocations, and each hitlocation has it's own "special damage" chart, such as bonepipe, ribs, spine, heart, lungs, 'organ damage' with it's own special chart for wich part of the guts you destroy, eyeball, genitalia, skin damage, flesh wound, deep cut and the list.. goes... on. With variations for the three damage types ofcourse, Slashing, Piercing and bludgeoning. And a damage chart for fire damage. Awesome fun once you've memorized the ruleset. Only me and the other GM has it memorized anymore though, and noone else wants to play the old versions of these games. ;_; -
They probably save a pretty penny on not having to licence an engine, since they used Frostbite

Actually forgot to mention, that if they have D20 based rule systems, you're much more likely to need to buy dice from them, same with the other odd dice, d4, d8, d10, d12, d100. Most people (I know of) have atleast one yahtzee game at home. -
Don't need to, I'm not going to be driving on open roads, when I run the word (Rangering) through google translate I get "marshalling", but I haven't the slightest idea if that makes sense. I don't think I'd technically need a drivers licence either since it's a restricted compound that you can't access normally.

Had my first day of training with parking lorry trailers at work, it's somewhat tricky to get them lined up right with the parking spaces, but dolly trailers are a frigging nightmare so far. Still, it's way more fun than to lift packets onto conveyorbelts...

The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread
Azdeus replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Way Off-Topic
It's quite common with cars and such aswell, though I haven't stumbled across anything quite that draconian, but I'm sure they will find their inspiration soon. I hate companies that does these sort of things, shafting custumers. -
Bought a hamburger at a the newest burger restaurant in town, great burger, 200g meat, fresh cheese with three herbs, bbq-sauce and japalpeno cream, sallad, tomato and lemon and honeypickled red onion. It was fan-frigging tastic, and the fries! They cut the potatoes in the shop, so none of that frozen **** you typically get, consistency was awesome. I feel like I can die right now though, because I'm so frigging full... But I want more!

If you're going for Clear Sky you really need to find some bugfix mods at the very least, that games faction wars always snafu'd my game. Every other time I tried to enter a new area it wrecked something for me. I haven't played Clear Sky in ages though and I can't remember any of the mod names. I've been playing it for an hour or three so far, and I'm having a blast. I haven't really seen any really warzone'esque behaviour yet, but there are alot of bandits. I had to fight my way through a checkpoint to get from the Bar to the junkyard to hit a bandit camp there, was a blast even though I was outgunned and outnumbered. Granted I had had a couple of glasses of rum by then wich might have influenced me. ^^' I guess you had bad luck with random spawn perhaps? The one thing I haven't really liked so far is how barebones the storymode is, you get two missions when you wake up and that is it. I'd have liked something more really, even though I know what is up with those quests. Edit; Also, the Heli's can be disabled in the options menu.

Drinking some "Barceló" rum, it's pretty nice, one of the few liqours that I can drink pure.
