Went to the dentist, ****ing usury. 100$ for 40 minutes work, though effectively 25 minutes "work".

That's around 18.3C according to Google. I don't think my AirCo can even get the temperature that low inside at the moment, regardless how long I let it run. It's still that bad down there? No sign of the heat going away yet?

Education. This and some activism did have an impact on things like female genital mutilation in some parts of Africa. And it'd help if politicians wasn't so pussyfooted around such things, but then again, it could hurt their corporate overlords purses, and that'd be bad. But it's a slower process, and you can't listen to 'Die MF die' in your tank. And previously mentioned corporate overlords would'nt be able to make money sellings said tanks and fired shells.

Sound normal to me to be honest. Also, 14C in my room at the moment, have'nt played anything on my computer or it'd rise. They have sweaters. =P

Yeah, same here, only one that really made me laugh was Finlands.

Mmm.... vodkaaa... *drool*

Haha, I actually can't find out what that car is, they're named differently in Europe ^^ Replacing all four tyres at once? Weird, tyres rarely wear out in the same speed. The tyres on the drive wheels wear out first so you switch between the fresher tyres from the non-drive wheels, and the next season you buy new ones for the drive wheels again. Atleast the price makes more sense that way, depending on the quality on the tyres it's good enough. It's the same price I paid about ~130$ per tyre. The control arm might be built in an way that forces them to change the whole thing when the bushing gives out, that's the only reason I can think of to change the whole thing, and it wouldn't surprise me either since car companies nowadays are run by idiots and ****. I'm glad to hear that she's fine, has she been floating on those pain meds you were talking about? =P Looking forward to next podcast I'm not the least bit surprised about medcare problems to be honest, but I'm glad the insurance company helped you out. =)
-
It's almost easier to change the entire arm to be honest, then you don't have to fiddle as much with the bushings, that takes more time than getting the arms off. That said, I live in a country where the roads are salted all winter and rust is a common problem, but I've been under plenty of 20+ year old cars, and I've almost never seen a pair of control arms that needed changing. Not counting beater cars though. Since you live in California I doubt you meet alot of salted roads. 200$ for the control arm is about what I'd expect though. 560$ for a two tyres?! It seems to me you're getting fleeced. Hmm... what car are you driving by the way? Also, how's Missy doing, post-op?
-
It's not much harder than changing the wheels to be honest, just a few more bolts, pop out the old bushing, pop the new one in and then tighten the bolts again. Edit; Did that include new rims aswell? I would've paid 40$ and then tell them to sod off, I only asked for an oil change. :/
-
*Heartattack* That's half of what I paid for my car... That part costs 10$ a piece and takes 2 hours tops to change. Goddamn what a robbery... :S
-
Atleast you've got no broken bones It's been raining/snowing here all morning, and we're getting some Russian cold weather next week, so I'm looking forward to experiencing the same things. Also, I can't afford to buy studded wintertyres for my car at the moment, so I have to make due with ****ty friction-based M+S tyres. I'm going to be skidding all over the place. Going to my friends place today to play some Mutant Chronicles (I hope)

I think the reason why my boss has'nt demanded to see a doctors note on my various sickleaves is because I'm a workhorse once I'm at work. I'm only half-joking when I say that I could work 3 days a week and still produce more than the others there. As soon as I start noticing something off I call in sick, I really don't my coworkers to catch whatever I've got. Then again, we have what's called a "Karensdag". On the day you call in sick you don't get any pay. If I started working at a tenth of the pace at work, they still could'nt fire me. If it went on too long they probably could since then it'd qualify as sabotaging or something like that. For good and for bad, it's ludicrously hard to fire someone in Sweden.
-
Huh, you can use sickdays to be free from work, without being ill? We don't really have a limit on how many sickdays you can have per year, just that your employer eventually will demand doctors notes to prove that you really are ill. On the top of my head, I've had 20-25 days I've been ill this year, flu and stomach bugs mostly. Not counting my sickleave for my back that is. What kind of a job do you have? Don't you worry about infecting your coworkers? Huh, it's legally mandated here in Sweden, that your employer have to "suspend" your vacation until you get well. Though if you're ill for more than one week straight you need a doctor to verify it.
-
One thing that makes me curious though; in the US, if you get ill during your vacation, can you call in sick then and get your vacation days back? Also, a couple of decades ago you could, technically, call in to work for "feeling gay", since homosexuality was classified as an illness back then. ^^

Well, there's always the Forgotten Realms wiki if that's your fancy. Don't know what world base you prefer yourself, but FR wiki is the most developed one I've found.
-
I think so too, it can cause alot of problems down the line that'll cost loads of more money if nothing else. Someone that has the diagnosis isn't going to be a productive worker.
-
Not necessarilly, but you can get it diagnosed, and then you can. Edit; More like "burnt out" Edit 2; We're talking about symptoms like depression and anxiety, insomnia and similar things. So if the doctors diagnose it as such you'll get help recovering, that can include sick leave. You can't call in and say you're not coming to work because you're too stressed though.
-
I'm not at all surprised, from what you've said that place is awful. Stress is not a problem we have at work really, but there is alot of lifting wich cause people to injure themselves in different ways, shoulders, backs, wrists and elbows tend to give out. I'm honestly quite surprised about how few real accidents we've had there though, many people tend to skimp on the safety routines. Hell, skimp, they don't bother with them at all. Most annoyingly our branch has the highest production in all of Sweden, but we have the lowest wage. People are getting really pissed off that we're getting nothing of the profits. It's not a small amount that differs either, we're talking of nearly 200€ difference. And the union is being limpwristed about things aswell.

Went shopping for groceries. Bought fruits and vegetables, and breakfast cereals, dairies. Forgot to buy any 'actual' food though. :|

The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread
Azdeus replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Way Off-Topic
Everytime I read some **** from PETA, all I want to do is go cuddle myself on my wolfpelt. Also; No skill? Those pelts they drape on themselves usually comes from some beast that can kill an Astartes. And some Chapters have to prove their worth by killing such beasts unarmed. Atleast get they can get their nerd **** straight before they start preaching. Now, I'm off to bed, and I'm taking my pelt with me. And my sheepskin. -
You have my sympathies, I'm on 50% sickleave at the moment, and it's costing me a ****ing fortune. Been on sick leave since November, started working 50% in December, 75% wrecked me and I had to go back to 50% again.
