Obsidian currently working on next-gen console title

Bethesda reuses them themselves everytime with (sometimes smaller, sometimes larger) adjustments so I don't really see your point. -

If Obsidian kickstarts a space opera RPG, would you back it?
C2B replied to Arcoss's topic in Computer and Console
South Park has the best chances to not be buggy, so you shouldn't be afraid about that. I'd worry about eternity way more in that department. In my experience, games that have had release dates postponed, been in development a long time and switched publishers have a high chance of failure. Depends entirly on the development process. From what i've followed there is a really low chance of this being buggy. It had a higher one back at THQ. Also South Park hasn't been in actual development for a long time. Unless you count 2 years as long in video game development as long. -
From what I can tell you only get the fellowship pack as a pre-order now. (Across all systems and distributors) Good Times with Weapons pack and Mysterion pack don't seem to exist anymore, which makes me think the stuff in them is already in the game. So, I doubt you are missing out on anything.

Nope Not because I wouldn't back it, but because George Ziets hard sci-fi rpg takes priority. -

Holy ****. Holy ****. That is the dumbest thing I've read in a while. While it is true that a male can reach higher pure physical strength than a female. A: That's nowhere near *just* above your average strength men. You're overestimating the average here. Hard. B: It means ****, because pure strength isn't everything. And strong women aren't a rare exception at all, except maybe in your backwards worldview.

Obsidian currently working on next-gen console title

Linkedin now updated. -
They did this before as well in their games. Which among other things led to cuts. And if anything using it for placement and such can ruin creativity, lessen optional content and make things predictable. Not saying that Obsidian couldn't control themselves. But, considering such data is what publishers do. And even outside of gaming this can lead to a suboptimal solution.

It would be more interesting as some general data for the community as a whole. As for the developer. Nah. Not on design. After all assembling this information lead to some stupid publisher\dev descicions in the past. Just because a majority doesn't do y, doesn't mean you shouldn't still be supporting y. It may help as an indication of things that weren't done well, but in these cases I imagine direct player feedback is more important.

Fulfilment site?
C2B replied to CrazyPea's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think the general opinion is... That about sums it up: No one knows. Obsidian needs to address it as it's becoming an issue. Actually we do know what archmage said. Both things (site has been delayed (also because its being expanded) and there will be an update were confirmed by darren and brandon. -
I thought the same thing when I saw it for the first time. Something about the round rooms, diffuse lighting, underground feeling, sorta tiled floor and the anticipation of the big fight! And traps I recall Chris Avellone said in an interview that a person who worked on the IWD 2 environments also is working on PE. Anybody know the name of that person? And did he/she also do the backgrounds for IWD? The IWD series really has the best 2D environments/lightning I have seen so far(together with the first Commandos game). Not all IWD2 env. You're thinking of Hector Espinoza.

New Chris Avellone Eternity Interview
C2B replied to C2B's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
.... What? I don't really think 2nd Quarter is a specific date at all, and even if this gets confirmed (which it isn't) it's nothing we didn't know before. -
As always though, speculation. The information i base this on isn't exactly something substantial. Thats what makes this fun
-
Honestly? Sampeling information and crossreferencing them with possible settings. Since then I have come across it several times reassuring me on the guess. And victorian era as in set in that era, less steampunk fantasy though it may as well have it. Western is another possibility, but that wouldn't exactly be that contridactory regarding the timeframe. Horror may be involved as well, though that I'm less sure about yet.
-
So, with Avellone hinting at a reveal somewhere soon in the future, I thought I may as well post my own guesses about what Obsidian's next rpg is going to be. (Already did that on other places as well) It's mostly based on small bits the devs said/hinted at. Ofc as always pure speculation. May be completly wrong - Next-Gen (Duh, that is pretty much confirmed as well) - Action-RPG, possible Hybrid. - Victorian Era (or at least part) setting - Cryengine 3 I'm not sure on which publisher (Current Guess is WB) or if the setting is licensed/original yet. So, what are your guesses?
-
No, it didn't. GTA III was quite different from II. Especially in overall mission structure I wouldn't call it the same at all.

Update #64: Developer Q&A with Kaz
C2B replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I really like Polina's creature designs and environment art, but Kaz's humans/humanoids have been more characterful and less awkward IMO. To be fair, the only full "portrait" art we have seen of Polina was the godlike. The others were concepts in the concepty sense.- 151 replies
