  1. Yes I did read your second comment when I posted in this thread. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/64139-fulfilment-site/?p=1370711 However, your second comment doesn't seem to negate what you said about wasting time and resources on a "fool-feel-ment sight". Do you now want time and resources spent on a "fool-feel-ment sight"? Having read the Kickstarter update 45 from March, it's probably going to be a huge overhaul of the site. Torment does the job for now but is quite basic. Obsidian seems to be redesigning the wheel and it will become an evolving backer site with new information added. Part wiki (information and artwork), part backer site, exclusive forums for high tier backers, private online submission for higher tiers that can be continually updated to a certain point, and other features like RSS feeds. Realising this, I've now come to the conclusion it's a lot of work. I'm now hoping the site will be up in the next few months, hopefully before Christmas which is only 3 months away. Brendan Adler said over in the update thread that its soon but not entirly put together and will come with a big update attached. It's on the first page of comments.
  2. I did too, but I'm sure there's a big one someday soon. It's a bit of a diappointment, but nothing too annoying.
  3. They never announced anything, true. But nobody saw that coming. Two weeks of work (since last update) and suddenly Obsidian wants you to know about their employee? What he thinks about the human existence? I think some people would agree, that they (devs) can do better. And yes, I find it boring. A bloke is a guy, a chap, a dude. Are you questioning his gender?*some* Also we had those developer QA's before and yes some people do like and appreaciate them, since some of us do care who and how the sausage gets made. Like socially as well. I know that can be a wild concept. Also I kinda doubt they put two entire weeks just in an update, but hey.
  4. They never announced anything regarding a big 1st anniversary update. Sooo, the only thing that was out of place was your expectation if it bothers you so much. Also, I'm sure some people would disagree on the "boring" and "some bloke" part.
  5. Honestly, I am not sure what the next one will be yet. There are a few ideas running around right now. I'd at least say *something* regarding the fullfillment site. It is close, but we aren't ready to talk about it. Once everything is together we will give a larger update about it. Will this update be out of order then? Like when it's done the update gets out regardless of the usual shedule?

  7. Katrina Schnell (Production Intern) http://whoiskatrina.com/ She's also a artist.
  8. New Production Intern (Starting next week) Katrina Schnell The Linkedin profile doesn't mention it yet. (Profile + Portfolio are pretty impressive)
  9. As of 11 minutes ago it's been a year (If I didn't get it wrong. Though, I do remember the first two days of the Kickstarter quite well.
  10. It's a year in one hour and 33 minutes. Anyway happy anniversary
  11. Project Eternity's backer site is a lot more ambitious though (AFAIK it's going to be much more than a simple fullfilment site and be a solid base for future projects after Eternity + maybe other things) That's the reason given (apart from being a one-man programming job) why it takes so long.
  12. Eh, looking at Ieo's post history I have misunderstood due to talking about fullfilment and the backer site as if they were the same thing. My bad. In that case we actually know nothing about how Obsidian's going to handle it as most of the information relates just to the backer/fullfilment site. They have sent stuff out before though with rewards. (In December) And they may as well have hired outside help already on that. Those things aren't really the same. W2's Backer site is managed by InXile last I checked. While Deep Silver does the fullfilment itself.
  13. A: It would be if additional money is invested. Which is what I'm opposed to and highlighted. B: They have already been working on the backer site for nearly a year. What do you think happens with the ressources utilised? Even if it is only Darren (and maybe an intern), that still accumalates. At this point it wouldn't make much sense anymore to use an outside contractor in the first place anyway. Granted, they may have done that before, but that wasn't your point. Also, we don't actually know if Kickstarter money was used so far for the backer site itself. Considering its Obsidian and especially Darren they may have gone for their own pockets. @Ieo What are you now talking about rewards? Nothing of that is relevant to this particular case (Which is the backer site itself). Unless we make two steps forward and assume they haven't prepared anything(Which we know they actually did!!!!!) till the site launches. And thank you for the insult. Should I start making assumptions about you? Edit: Of course, there is additional work to be done after. But, we haven't reached that particular deadline yet.
  14. No, it shouldn't. Why would you even remotly want that? That would be bad money management. People invested in them making a game, not a backer site. They also invested 5% of their total backing amount into amazon, 5% into kickstarter and I don't know how much for postage and random loot that collects dust on their wall or in a cupboard. Sadly a kickstarter campaign has a lot of non-game-related costs and the understanding is that projects don't need to loan money from the bank to finance kickstarter costs itself. So the only question is if fullfillment is done completely inhouse or partly outsourced. Protest would only make sense if outsourcing cost more than inhouse fullfillment. Yes, that doesn't say.... anything? Keeping these costs low is the point. *Well, we already have these costs so.... Let's make more of it" is BAD money management. And they didn't *invest* that in Amazon. What a weird phrasing. That's a fee. Anyway, they are working on it. We know that much and we even know who is. It can still fullfill its function for quite a while, so there's no real use in putting on pressure. And demanding to invest money into it to get it finished faster is just counterproductive.

  16. Yes, we do (at least approximatly). We even know when the production phase started. (And a lot more if you pay attention and count 1+1 together) It seems to be a bit delayed atm if you take the current date, but by a managable margin. Naturally, we are a bit behind with info though. Till the production update came out many of us assumed they are still in vertical slice, which would have been a more worrysome delay.
  17. 1st off that was the plan for the initial simple fullfilment. We actually did get a very few updates on the status since then. Secondly if anything this is a sign of GOOD project management. It's called prioritizing. The fullfillment site can *fullfill* its job at nearly any time till a month/a few months before release. It has a very, very low priority and that is perfect. Obsidian investing its resources in actual game development (especially compared to Double Fine) is a good thing.
  18. Considering I just remembered he was Lead Programmer on th NV DLC's he may have just finally updated his Linkedin profile.
  19. Already posted in Obsidian general. ( As its not only about eternity) Including panels chris was at at dragon con.
  20. According to LinkedIn as of August 2013. From Junior Programmer and originally intern when he started out in 2009. Somehow I feel the most appropriate response is an evil stalkery laugh.... Anyway, gratz man.
