  1. Dini McMurry is back! (March 2012 layoffs victim) http://www.linkedin.com/in/dini800
  2. I'm not sure how a bottom bar UI is streamlined. If anything that was used a lot more in the past.
  3. He's only had the site up for around 2 months (And Vigil died in February) So, its early stuff anyway.
  4. It's weird. I do think some of these must be from different projects. Because I'm close to certain the pic that was posted in here IS from Aliens. For one, she was in the video. For another Menze mentions in the comments to that pic that Josh Sawyer was the Lead Designer.
  5. Lead Artist of Planescape Torment. Worked long-time at Black Isle and Obsidian. Then went on to Vigil.

  7. She appeared in the Aliens Video. I don't know if she was just a placeholder model, but that makes here defidefinitly not Backspace. Also Backspace was AFTER FNV in early 2011. So, no. Pretty sure she is not a backspace character.
  8. Checking out Linkedin I noticed that Sydney Wolfram was the games lead level designer and developed the pitch itself including the story Currently she's at Zenimax Online Studios.
  9. As good a reason as any to visit them http://www.gamepolitics.com/2013/08/07/psa-obsidian-entertainment-host-blood-drive-next-week#.UgKbVT-TVBo
  10. Although the screenshot looks really good, I'm a bit let down by the frequency of the updates lately. Is it going to stay at a 2 weeks cycle now? I really don't want to be negative here, but I feel like the art updates were also meatier during the more frequent time, that is, when we had weekly updates. For example, there was more text describing the artistic process when we were shown some new eye-candy. I know we're not entitled to those updates so I'm still glad we have them, but it'd be nice to know if this is supposed to stay biweekly short updates now or if this is only a temporary thing. This is going to be a regular occurrence. The team is shifting close to 100% of their efforts into creating the content for the game, so we have to space the updates out a bit more. Will the Backer portal (when it's finished) be announced in an update or will you make it accessible when it's done?
  11. Seriously,... (In refrence to something that came before it) But, yeah. It's not important.
  12. Yeah, they adjusted that. Just compare what I quoted and what the description is now.
  13. Pretty So, Brendan. What 'highly stilyzed' 3D world are you talkin' about there. Have we heard of that project before?
  14. Highly stylized? What? I thought the game was to be *realistic*? New project?
  15. Obsidian underestimated how long it would take to make a video game? Say it isn't so. Now we get to know how Sega felt. Apart from this being really dumb.... They underestimated nothing, as the old date was still with the original goal in mind + them saying they will release it as bugfree as possible even if it takes a bit more time. It's not "really dumb" because they (Obsidian) gave an estimated schedule of 18 months after the Kickstarter was closed. I think we all pretty much expected it would take longer, but it's the management prerogative to push the schedule to the left in order to encourage efficiency. Where it would become a concern is if they have budgeted for 18 months and it ends up taking two years, leading to a cost overrun. Apart Which means I wasn't really refering to the shedule thing as dumb, but the SEGA comparison (Which I even explain in the same post (which you didn't quote), so wth?) I'd say +2 months than the *estimated* shedule would be still in the ok. We'll see though. Things can still happen.
  16. Yeah, but that doesn't absolve him automatically. There's also plenty of developers that get critizized over the internet and don't also insult other developers. Yet, Fish for some reason, who is part of the problem, gets to be the victim. That is bull**** to everyone of them as well. Absolve him? Why is everything black and white here? He's an ass. So? That doesn't mean he has to suffer with the internet equivalent of people ringing up his phone, telling him he sucks and then hanging up. Why are we arguing about this anyway? Wasn't he just put forward as an example? Then be a nicer guy. That's all he has to do. If he stops and gets attacked fine. But if he does it himself too, he's part of the problem and he is also to be called out on it. (Hell, I would love it if he comes back matured into the gaming scene after a while) And no. The whole debate sprung from media outlets that went to defend exactly Fish. And here again, there are tons of other devs that also have to handle vitrol and don't in fact insult people. Yet they get overlooked a lot of times because they aren't as *special*. That's the problem I had with that reaction. I know devs that should have been supported. And exactly for them this isn't justice either. What about his co-workers nobody seems to talk about? There's still tons of people that believe FEZ was Fish's own creation. You know what the difference is from Fish and these other developers that suffer? Fish has the power to end a lot of the vitrol by stop being an ****. Other developers don't have that luxury because they may get personally attacked for reasons as simple as people not liking their game. And you know what? Most people like FEZ. (I myself do as well) Hell this is from one of the articles that started the debat (Already posted) That's my problem. Just THAT. So two things Calling people that act terribly on the internet out and look for solutions YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Making Fish its posterboy victim NO!
  17. Pretty much. It will be interesting to see if Obsidian made a robust system, though. That's certainly a valid point to worry about.
  18. Obsidian underestimated how long it would take to make a video game? Say it isn't so. Now we get to know how Sega felt. Apart from this being really dumb.... They underestimated nothing, as the old date was still with the original goal in mind + them saying they will release it as bugfree as possible Obsidian have never made a bug-free game. Neverwinter Nights to this day still has unfixed bugs floating around. You believe PE won't be a mess on release? Bug-free? I would imagine no modern company has. Nearly bug-free? Well, there's Dungeon Siege III (as you know yourself). I excpect South Park: TSOT to be around the same level (hopefully with better pc controls). As for Eternity, I'm worried but I expect it to be pretty good at release.

They underestimated nothing, as the old date was still with the original goal in mind + them saying they will release it as bugfree as possible even if it takes a bit more time. August-September sounds ok and what I expected. Edit: Seriously, that doesn't even make sense with the SEGA example. They took longer there than expected, but SEGA themselves kept the product for over half a year in-house before releasing it without letting Obisidian work on it. KOTOR II and Lucas Arts would have been a way better example.
  20. And this isn't even the first time this happens. Indie Game: The Movie depicts him as having had to fight against an *evil* ex co-worker... Without consulting that co-worker about his side of the story. Even more. AT FIRST THEY FLAT OUT LIED ABOUT IT. From the FEZ topic at SA Article about the whole thing: http://www.polygon.com/gaming/2012/6/15/3083080/indie-game-the-movie-revised-credits-phil-fish-fez

  22. Recently, we have heard a lot of things about Eternity's team structure, including that Eric Fenstermaker is writing the Narrative. Due to George Ziet's formspring we also know that he hasn't been working on the game for a while (through the Vertical Slice phase at least). But sadly, it's a bit confusing. So, it would be interesting to know who's doing what at the moment and how big the core team actually is. Also will you get additional members (like Ziets) back on when they are needed again?
  23. Somebody left and somebody joined. Currently looking for who joined.
