What are you playing now?
GOG is the way to go. No DRM, fair price policy, patch downloads that aren't 9 GB and you don't have to be online to play.

Mass Effect 3
BioWare is developing the title, not Obsidian.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Dishonored sounds like a great idea. But it's Bethesda, and Bethesda has published only crap outside of their franchises so far so.. we'll see.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
The looks are all thanks to other mods they didn't work on, though, just to be clear on the subject. And Oblivion runs pretty poorly with all that stuff.

DS III / IwD III (read it Obsidian guys plz)
It doesn't. But it's a good example on how good CD Projekt RED PR is, and how gullible PC gamers are.

The Witcher 2 is essentially a multiplatform project with a staggered release. You're deluding yourself if you see it in any other way.

Lol. Btw, RED Engine is obviously a console engine first. Just FYI.

FO: NV (DLCS) Discussion
Unless you're running with 3/4 mods FOMM is the only thing that will manage to avoid conflicts and make mods work properly. It really is a necessary tool and there's no reason to not use it.

FO: NV (DLCS) Discussion
Uhm, have you done the Archive Invalidation? Are you using FOMM for that matter?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Fan Interview. Puts the game firmly in the bargain bin for me.

Visuals I use these three: url=http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37908 http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35794 http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35497 With a helping of other retextures which can be heavy on memory and are really just a matter of taste. Interface, 99% of those who want a PC friendly UI for New Vegas start from DarnUI although it should be noted that the author mysteriously disappeared and the mod isn't supported anymore. Still, mostly bug-free, and all the major mods are compatible (or have compatible patches) for it. Also, there's a pretty decent thread on mods on Something Awful, the OP contains most of the interesting/notable mods and gives you a good idea about how to install stuff, conflicts etc.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Not sure if this has already been posted, but anyway Rockstart allegedly won't publish Team Bondi's next game. Here's the original article. You have to be subscribed to Games Industry to read it in its entirety, though.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced
I guess he took "not exactly the same things happen" for "not scripted". Then again, Bethesda does a good job muddying the waters for PR purposes.

Dark Alliance Remake
Four project announced and not even a screenshot out yet. Recipe for disaster.

Aside from fixes there's really nothing I'd consider essential. I'd recommend Project Nevada (heavily tweakable, and pretty good even if you just keep very little of what it adds), WMX (more weapon mods, has a patch that adds mods for Project Nevada's weapons). Besides those two, I don't use many gameplay mods, mostly very minor tweaks. Tons of visual mods though, but I don't really know your tastes about those. Ah, don't forget to grab the New Vegas Script Extender.. many, many mods don't work without it (including those two).

Is it just me or does this statement display a total lack of understanding of how (game) business functions? GTA 4 required 700 people and a $100 million budget, that'S what I call ambitious. It also sold like 20 million units. What exactly is it you don't understand? What you're arguing is that Obsidian can magically find a publisher willing to give them the budget to double their workforce to, presumably, tackle a more ambitious project. That's just nuts.

Commercial success
Amazon UK is already doing pretty cheap sales with the game. I don't think it's too early to say that Dungeon Siege III is not doing well sales-wise. @Hurlshot: Really? Torchlight did extremely well. Granted, different price and different scope, but considering just how many XBLA/PC Diablo-clones we're seeing lately I'd say the genre is actually doing pretty well. Dungeon Siege III is a different beast since it's full-price and the design is rather different, and I'd say that those two things are damning it. It's not just the flaws, Obsidian seems to have forgotten to consider for what audience they were developing the game.

Mass Effect 3
One totally different chapter is more than 99% of RPGs.

Change name from Obsidian Entertainment to "Obsid Entert"
Of all the justified criticism I can think for the game, it being unfinished hinges on the rather weak argument of "it's by Obsidian waaaargh". Nope, the game has other problems.

Mass Effect 3
No, it's just a sarcastic line available for Hawke, except to many it felt like an inappropriate/idiotic thing to say in that moment. Hardly something that bothered me in the demo to be honest, but it's easier to pick as an example, I guess.

Some updates re: feedback
It was said by a developer. Both Feargus Urquhard (Obsidian CEO) and Nathaniel Chapman (Lead designer on the project) said that it was out of scope. Releasing a toolset isn't something that can simply be done "as is", you have to provide documentation, polish them up the tools for the public, remove functions/stuff that require software licenses (like SpeedTrees) etc.
