  1. Seems like all of that, or a large part of it, is based on the older version of the game? The Mitsoda-led one? P.S.: I honestly love Mitsoda for his work on Bloodlines, but the "save the bus or Madison" sequence is straight out of a Michael Bay movie.. in a bad way.
  2. Was "Exploring Stonebridge" in the game? I don't remember hearing that track.
  3. Uhm, this was last Friday: Did anything happen?
  4. Well, they ARE caring for their customers. Few, if any, other publisher/devs offer what CD Projekt offers on release + that kind of support (and their patches continuously add more content and refinements, we're not simply talking about bug fixes). I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you here, but again, that's not what is praised. And really, the story, writing, and maturity of other games IS very much inferior to The Witcher 2. Nothing Bethesda and BioWare have done for a good while comes even just slightly close. From that point of view, they barely have any rivals (though, considering the general level of the writing, that's really not too difficult). You are not really replying to what I've said. Plus, come on, of all the points you could use, reviews? The same that didn't noticed Oblivion's flaws until Fallout 3's release? This is the first time that you, to my knowledge, bring this subject up, but anyway, The Witcher 2 is undoubtedly important. It's critically acclaimed, it's loved by gamers, and love it or hate it, what CD Projekt has done will influence other developers. What the influence will be, it's difficult to tell at this point. Also, I'd be inclined to agree with "bad" but TW2 definitely is not "dumbed down". Compared to most of the console role-playing games out there is positively hardcore in terms of what it requires from the players.
  5. They didn't. The comparison was born from consumers, not from the devs, who actually diplomatically stated they love those games. And honestly, The Witcher 2 is pretty wonky and uneven mechanically (I wouldn't go so far as to say terrible, because you can clearly see the intention behind the design and certain things were good, like the way you have to memorize monster's weaknesses and the crafting system) and that's part of the reason I didn't really enjoy it as much as the first (which was wonky too, but at least in a less annoying way). That said, is it really praised for its mechanics? Because so far I've seen praise for its writing, its maturity, its difficulty curve, the fact that it doesn't compromise things for players that don't devote their attention to the game, etc... So yeah, while on one hand seeing CD Projekt too glorified annoys me, I can't say I can't see why people are enjoying the game, and I think it's a little disingenuous to chalk it up to "consumers being dumb".. there's certainly an aspect of that, but there's an aspect of that in the success of every game and every company, Obsidian included.
  6. It's possible that funcroc already posted this and I missed it, but Nathaniel isn't working on DS3: Treasures of the Sun.
  7. The studio philosophy: developing AAA next-gen titles with smaller teams and longer production schedules. But uh, sure, keep listening to Morgoth, I'm sure it'll do you some good.
  8. I just hope the adventure is fairly meaty.. feature wise I'd say it's pretty promising and it does almost everything I wanted (barring changes to the camera, but at this point, I guess there won't be).
  9. I very much doubt the abilities are for a new character, otherwise the bullet point would have been something like: * A WHOLE NEW CHARACTER: GROMNIR, THE SCHIZOPHRENIC ORC-BARD, WHO SWITCHES BETWEEN AN AGGRESSIVE ARGUMENTATIVE STANCE, AND A MORE THOUGHTFUL SARCASTIC STANCE, WITH A WHOLE NEW SET OF ABILITIES AND ITEMS.
  10. The fact that they're actually adding new abilities and an enchanting system makes me pretty happy Also like the fact that they're exploring yet another type of environment, that's one of the places in which the game shone.
  11. And suddenly you're at the Mass Effect 2 illusive man end-game screen and EVERYBODY's bitching like there's no tomorrow. Since, apparently, if you get mission based xp, it's "no longer and RPG!!11one" Except I never heard anyone criticizing Mass Effect 2's mission based-XP but just the extremely game-y TPS-like mission completed screens? Just for the sake of clarity.
  12. Nothing too interesting as far as I can tell, though useful from the pov of someone who wants to land at Obsidz for their job I guess Mostly just talk about what he searches in a candidate, whether a degree in game development is needed or not, that kind of thing.
  13. DLC all but confirmed?:
  14. I'd take "shooting all over the place" over "cover to cover to cover to cover". It's just a type of gameplay I don't find particularly rewarding, though I may have missed the good titles.
  15. I think I remember a preview mentioning that they're doing some animated in-engine cutscenes in that style.. so not quite, but something similar. One can hope it'll be good, though it sure seems like a weird sequel so far. Hopefully it'll keep the noir-esque tone and it won't be another peek-a-boo shooter.
  16. F:NV didn't generally have a really good narrative (compared to MotB or even Dungeon Siege III), but it made up in dialogue and player agency. Plus, it's compared to the awful Fallout 3 narrative, so there's that too.
  17. Reading the comments to the article I feel like I'm taking a trip through a bizarro land where Mass Effect 2 had a good story and Obsidian has only written Neverwinter Nights 2 and Storm of Zehir.
  18. They had a second voting for hair color.
  19. I thought Human Revolution was the rare revival old fans like? (Not to mention the general consensus seems to be that it's well designed all around.)
  20. It's honestly some pretty bad art, conceptually, and in execution it looks kinda wonky? Like the face and the body don't belong together and the proportions and perspective in the face are.. weird. I'm no art critic, though.
  21. Actually a lot of people play the Wii. Very few people buy games for the Wii, because there simply aren't a lot of games and because a large part of the Wii install base is not the type to buy core games.. or games indeed, with the exception of stuff like Zumba fitness.
  22. I don't think so? If anything, the way Nathaniel puts it, it was Obsidian's decision. Of course, it's unlikely we'll ever know, but to be honest, I'm not sure where that idea comes from in the first place.
  23. With all those question marks I took Wombat for a spambot.
