  1. What the hell is going on with the animations in the second shot. What. The. Hell.
  2. Uh? I'm not seeing it. They didn't explicitly name Obsidian but they did say it was a different team and that Bethesda Game Studios oversaw the development (which is true like it or not, and they did say to Obsidian what they could and couldn't do, since they're the IP holder). Nothing unethical that I can spot?
  3. Maybe part of it, but I certainly know there's a good part of the fanbase that enjoys (or at least enjoyed) Obsidian titles, since they are (were?) pretty much the only other developer doing BioWare-style RPGs (very story-driven, emphasis on dialogue and character relationships, etc.). In the US Bethesda does very different stuff, and in Europe p. much every developer does more niche stuff with slightly different styles (I doubt a BioWare fan would be interested in playing, say, Drakensang).
  4. Level scaling is like Fallout 3, they pretty much said that since the first preview.
  5. Expect Flemeth to get blinded if Chris Avellone gets to it!
  6. Congratulations! Now make another Golden Joystick-worthy title, please.
  7. Super detailed textures yet, every picture I see of Two Worlds, I can't help but feel it was put together with no artistry at all. It's such a pity, the engine looks actually technically very competent.
  8. What the **** is going on here
  9. I'm actually not all that excited. I keep thinking about what it will be like to start the game. I will be a prisoner, I will break out by some chance of fate and just happen to learn skills on my way to the daylight, and then I will fight a few wolves to get to the first town, where some underwhelming quests will be offered to me. I don't know, I will still pick it up, hopefully I'll get excited in time. Uhm, I can understand not being excited about Skyrim, but your criticism basically sounds to me like "I don't really like open-world/Bethesda titles". Why are you buying the game then?
  10. Embargo has lifted and you still can't talk about it?
  11. It's I presume? Cool stuff.
  12. This is going to be an all time Codex favourite. Expect every frame of that video-interview to end as something entirely else. I'm still lobbying for the moderation to important here an all-favorite NMA/Codex smilie: the :hatersgonnahate: Chris Avellone.
  13. I seriously doubt it. EDIT: By the way, is it just me or are the requirements for the position kind of.. ludicrous? I'm not an expert on game development, but isn't it kind of difficult to find a senior level designer who also has experience as an illustrator?
  14. In Europe it costs 1
  15. Just around the corner.
  16. Of course, with those, people would have complained that it's not realistic or something along those lines.
  17. While, as a GameBanshee writer, I can't dismiss the claim that there isn't at least a little bit of interest in posting this () I hope it's not gonna come across as annoying if I let people who're interested in Dungeon Siege III that Buck and Steven have put together a whole subsite for the title, with an easy to understand and thorough walkthrough, a complete item database which includes the DLC bonus items, a list of deeds, proficiencies, talents and opportunities to gain influence with characters and even a review, should you want to read another opinion on the title. That's about all, folks, hope you appreciate, a lot of hard work has been put into it.
  18. Of course I'm sad to see Stout go, by the way, I hope Obsidian is nurturing those new good/talented writers because they can't rely on the Avellones and Ziets forever.
  19. Speaking of people leaving/joining, they used to have 14 open positions, now they have only 10, while LinkedIn still lists them as having 123 employees. It may be that the latter simply isn't tracking all of them, of course.
  20. Fallout 3's skyboxes had less variety and were less impressive than Oblivion and Morrowind's, yes, but they generally blended better with the color palette. In Fallout: New Vegas they wanted, legitimately to do blue skies, but you end noticing the alpha transitions and the low-res textures much more. I might just be influenced by having tried a lot of weather mods, though. EDIT: Also, for some reason, Obsidz choose to go with flat-looking grainy clouds. I've never lived or been to the Mojave, and I admit I haven't done much research on its weather patterns, let alone have any data on common cloud formations there but, I'd imagine, even if towering clouds or more interesting skies aren't as common, going for more interesting skyboxes as an artistic choice would have been something I'd have endorsed.
  21. One of the thing I always appreciated about Bethesda is that they always do great skyboxes. Obsidian should learn from them, Fallout: New Vegas skyboxes are kind of... meh, with the exception of Lonesome Road's (mostly because they nailed the color palette, which ironically, reminds a lot of Fallout 3 but "oranger").
  22. Not really. That screenshot has been on the net for months, I'm guessing they repackaged it with this batch though. Still, check the other ones, there are issues of fairly visible jaggies, bad textures and generally just awkward camera positioning that highlights the graphical flaws (plus I presume that's the Xbox 360 version).
  23. I'm not the type to criticize a moderator's actions, but from a publication's pov, I can see them not liking you just copy pasting the entire article and basically taking away possible traffic. Then again, it's a fairly useless preview that you linked for anyone that has followed Skyrim so far. P.S. : This is the worst batch of screenshots they have released so far. I guess since they're so close to release they don't even care enough to doctor them, but they're aliased as all hell!
  24. Reviewers are harsher on DLCs than on a full title, with very rare exceptions, and in the case of BioWare DLC, I guess one could argue there is a "value/content for your money" factor, but that still doesn't explain the extreme disparity of opinions between Dragon Age II and Legacy. Dragon Age II's first reviews were all "This is what videogames should be!". Dragon Age II: Legacy "yawn, mediocre and uninteresting". Mark of the Assassin seems to be doing a little better so far, I'm expecting it to at least not fall under 65.
