  1. Morrowind's main narrative was hardly juvenile and had a solid metanarrative to go with it. I don't care about the main quest anyway I'll probably focus on the civil war quests immediately.
  2. About that expectation thing. In every buisness there is "expectation" and "EXPECTATION". I really have not much of an idea on the gaming industry side of things (or even how Square Enix sets it internally). But a product falling mildly under the expectation bar isn't really an uncommon thing. Furthermore. Don't forget that this is "just" 3 Months of sales/shipments. We have no idea in what timeframe the 1mil. should be reached. So, saying that it didn't reach expectations is quite far fetched in itself. We'll see in the coming months how it played out for Square and how interested they are now in continuning the franchise. Long-run sales have never meant anything in this industry, and it should be considered that the number is shipped. To actually clear out a lot of those shipped copies pretty much every retailer is offering huge discounts on Dungeon Siege III.
  3. It's like the fact that it's a different studio under the BioWare label doesn't even register here.
  4. You should know Vol can't do that. The Vological mind is only capable of processing literal meanings of all that is read, heard, tasted, smelt and felt... Vol cannot help that he has no sense of humour. Its like saying walk to a man in a wheel chair. Wyh do you lie?! R00fles!
  5. No, it's not making any sense to me to put a new studio under the BioWare label wing to make.. action games.
  6. Not saying you're wrong, but why? BioWare is EA's RPG label, they'd at least try to label it as such, otherwise, why do it under the BioWare moniker? This is from a totally new studio, btw.
  7. It's obviously not in-game and considering how misleading the first image was last year, I'm not seeing much of a point dissecting it.
  8. ..what? No, in Skyrim you can jump.
  9. The way they handle maps and level design doesn't allow it, both for memory constraints and because it would make putting obstacles on the player's path more difficult if you can circumvent them and break the flow by levitating. It's a pity, I've been replaying Morrowind recently and levitating in Tel Fyr is a really great and subtle "setpiece" moment.
  10. I'm less bothered by the fact that Drew Karpshyn retconned Kotor II and more by the fact that, as evidenced by the writing samples released so far, he's absolutely incapable of writing anything above "absolutely terrible" when it comes to prose.
  11. It does say "2010", but it could easily be someone on another project, there's nothing specified.
  12. and This does feel pretty creepy. I suppose you can see the Slenderman in the background while the voice over narrates this? Shifty fellas those at Obsidian, they're actually working on an Internet memes RPG!
  13. You should seriously consider scrapping Obsidian as a name and just renaming your studio as "Prosper's delirious imagination". Then you should all become poorly drawn and vaguely disturbing doodles. I dunno about the rest.
  14. It was shipped as expected.. damn that's really not a good number. Just for comparison: Alpha Protocol was 700k (shipped). Squenix expected to ship 1mil+.
  15. The letter doesn't work for me?
  16. Zane Lyon is still a project director unless they have canceled his project.
  17. That 820k ain't bad at all if you ask me. Quite small team and not very long development time. No, for any AAA project that's a bad number. I doubt they could even recoup the cost with that (especially if it's shipped and not sold, but let's assume for a minute that it's sold).
  18. 2 million for Deus Ex sounds like a shipped number. I presume he's just reposting (in a fairly bad English) stuff that is on some earning call from Squenix?
  19. I dunno where they got the "brand new franchise" bit, they probably have some inside knowledge I don't have, but it's worth noting that the official website simply talks about a 'new project'. More interestingly, they also say that BioWare will announce yet another studio under their label: Considering they don't even specify it's a new 'title', I wouldn't jump on the new IP just yet. After all, last year was supposed to be a new IP too.
  20. Not to interrupt your highly enriching discussion on challenges, but Fallout: New Vegas "Ultimate Edition" is going to come out February next year.
  21. It's in San Andreas. And man, that trailer did nothing to make me interested.
  22. I wanted to write "developers" actually, dunno why I wrote designers. Either way, you catch my drift.
  23. I don't think there's much to speculate, he probably just got a good offer or wanted to change environment. Designers are people too, not just assets at the almighty Feargus' disposal.
  24. Mmh.. wondering whether to get it or not, my backlog is fairly huge but Bastion is a title that intrigues me and the demo was fun.
  25. Uh.. didn't you read the very first post in this topic?
