Sorry but that's backpedaling at its worst and a far cry from saying that they sold the game in beta to PC players. But uh, I'm a strawman, so I guess that noticing you're not making any sense is pointless, and I guess I'll stop discussing with you from now on since you waited for someone to come and rescue your poorly conceived arguments.
-
....what? Are you serious? Why WOULDN'T they post that on the forums that host them?
-
I just find it funny that you'd complain about twisting points when you basically tried to point out that consistently supporting a game post-release is evil.

Interesting choice of examples. I consider the blowback from both Deus Ex boss fights and the Mako to be more a case of Internet Bandwagon Jumping syndrome (IBJ), which just runs in two directions; in the case of the (t)witcher 2, the IBJ absolves it of all sins. Or, neither the Mako nor the DX Boss Fights were anywhere near the level of "bad" the IBJ has claimed them to be. Of course, neither Eidos Montreal nor Bioware continued the development of the game for another platform, removing the "tests" you mentioned. Edit: I think you guys are getting too hung up on "Beta" as in broken, and not the way I mean it, a prototype for the console version. A prototype tested, and then improved on, based on the feedback from PC players. Sorry but they just don't have a team big enough to go multiplatform, and they would have been burned alive if they decided to publish it for Xbox 360 first (not to mention that, since they didn't get the first one, going for that platform first didn't make a whole lot of sense), so they basically.. can't win for you? P.S.: Actually, by the way, Mass Effect was originally an Xbox 360 exclusive and then was ported to PC. Same with Mass Effect 2 with its late port to the PS3, so uh.. I guess BioWare like making us beta test a lot?

Common fallacies are common, but no less wrong. A lot of games are published with things that, on retrospect, may seem obvious to gamers, see Deus Ex and its boss fights. Why the hell they published it with those? Why? Why the Mako in Mass Effect? All betas? I'm not a fan of CD Projekt's "awesome" coat of paint on patches (NEW! IMPROVED!), and I think that on the gameplay side The Witcher 2 was a bit weak (clunky combat, dull minigames, bad context-sensitive stealth and a robust crafting system that kind of quickly fell on the side), but it was hardly a beta, and hardly the worst RPG players have ever praised.

That's a weird way to look at it, basically, the bigger a patch is, the more broken is the game before it? I'm starting to understand why Bethesda doesn't actually release patch notes.

Well, he already posted (and probably sent a form) on the Iron Tower Studios forums so, really, who cares? If there's someone who's not mentally ill and is up to the challenge, by all means, let the folks at Doublebear decide whether you'd make a good addition to the team or not, otherwise, uh, yeah.

Taking out the capability for enemies to block Geralt's moves risks to make the combat a little bit too easy but the rest are all things that should have been in the game in the first place. I'll repeat it again: making the combat unresponsive and clunky is not good, especially if by design.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
WorstUsernameEver replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Computer and Console
A collaboration with Obsidian? (I don't understand the language, even though it's vaguely similar to Italian.) It would be interesting if true, but I'm really very skeptical, especially in the light of the revelation that everything they did with Knights of the Old Republic 2 has been retconned by Drew Karpshyn, and that they'll use that for The Old Republic (who surely will be canon? I'm not sure how LucasArts works with this stuff). -
Are you a talented modder in search of work on a full indie title? Do you have what it takes? Well, I don't know if what you're saying is the truth or not, but talented writer and designer Brian Mitsoda (Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, first draft of Alpha Protocol and man behind its dialogue system) has asked for help on the Iron Tower forums:

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!

Well, did anyone expect him not to? Drew Karpshyn is a fairly untalented guy anyway, his work on both Kotor and ME proves it. Not that I'd want Chris Avellone to write Star Wars either, he, like a lot of other authors, introduced concept that just don't fit in the Star Wars universe. EDIT: And I guess some could find that cool, but I liked my Star Wars when it was three cheesy movies that were a lot of fun and there was nothing more to worry than that. Knights of the Old Republic was nice because it echoed that cheesiness, though I'm not sure whether it was all a conscious effort. -
It's no strange at all. It seems to me that they wanted to keep the game close in focus and scope to his predecessor. I hear that the level design isn't as good though, but I can't testify to that as I haven't bought it yet.

Lynda Carter means less than nothing to me, but I'm happy about Hogan/Saul Tigh. Battlestar Galactica is pretty much my favorite show after all.

Ulysses is honestly not that bad at a character, but it's handled kinda clumsy. It doesn't help, I guess, that he already was a companion that was re-purposed for another role they had planned. EDIT: He should shut the **** up sometimes, though.

In Fallout 3:

To be fair, I don't think the devs ever stated that they wanted to do a highly-branching narrative with Deus Ex, and that's certainly nothing that was in the original either.
-
That's something I could actually agree with, but it's also a direction that I think fans would have frowned on just as much as what they did with Oblivion. Either way, I do hope they made weapon skills feel a bit more meaningful. Speaking of the perk trees, they're better than what I was expecting, but kind of uninspired.. then again, Obsidian themselves struggled a bit with it with New Vegas, so I can't completely fault Bethesda for taking a safe route and going mostly with percentage changes.

Final part of the Q&A with Nathaniel. He's now allowed to punch me for the questions! ...if he can reach Italy
-
While your explanation is fascinating I think you're looking too hard into it, especially considering the Fallout setting hasn't been consistent with the reinforcement of "only vacuum tubes" during the years and that much of the technology that supposedly runs on vacuum tubes really shouldn't be able to (and in many cases, shouldn't exist at all). EDIT: Also, uh, why a new topic and in this section?

So, uh, any news about when the next part of the Q&A is going to come out?
