  1. He should. The problem is, I don't think they'll ever admit there's a problem. You know, I understand that there are pedophiles in every category, but when there are so much pedophiles well.. maybe there's a structural problem. Then again, for Tarcisio Bertone, the problem is homosexuality so..
  2. I agree with you, that is part of what creates the unique environment that sets the Witcher's storytelling apart from all the "Hollywood-esque" games that play to stereotypes and known formulas. But there are moments when the story demands some emotion, E.G: romancing Trish/Shani. Even the dialog choices that actually do emotion; like laughter, sound the same as every other word that comes out Geralt's mouth. Is like hearing HAL go through the script. They don't need to go overboard and do a tearjerker moment, just do the emotions as they fit the situation. I haven't read the books, but from what I've seen from the forums, the reception and the general attitude of the developers it seems it was intended to be like that, basically Geralt is as inexpressive as a man (a witcher?) can be. Though, the polish voice acting is a little bit more varied, may be because I don't understand polish though.
  3. Confirmed in the last preview : you create your character and the game asks you if you want to play in Hardcore Mode, so I'd say yes.
  4. I dunno, I wasn't sayin' that Brayko is an unbelievable character per se, just that I found Conrad much more intimidating. As for Sie, as long as she teases me, she can honestly be as unbelievable as she wants.
  5. Except they make no mention of its rpg-ness in their announcement. You know, if you talk about 'rpg' and say 'action game'... Who cares anyway, considering how Gothic IV is turning up, I don't think there's much to expect from Spellbound.
  6. It doesn't make you less cool. It makes The Sword nerdier though.
  7. Funny, Parallels is my favourite Fates Warning album, followed by A Pleasent Shade of Grey.
  8. Oh, the OLD Fates Warning. Never listened anything from them. Nice... prefer the 'new' Fates Warning though.
  9. Maybe Vic rescued you almost immediately? Maybe it's a Doc Mitchell's conspiracy and he's actually New Vegas' version of Presper? Who knows, who knows... As for the groin thing, me doesn't know.. maybe there are two different animations and one is chosen randomly when you choose 'Fore!' ? The screenshots indicate an attack to the head anyway.
  10. The quote was funny but the site.. meh. Bitter humour is rarely fun.
  11. The article also implies you have to make the portable laser controller, which, if true, and assuming requires something like science and repair skills, would already change a bit my perspective on it.
  12. Conrad looks awesome. He really fits the genre I think, he's scary in a believable kind of way, so to me, he's actually more scary than characters like Sie (it's a codename, right? never thought about it, but as a name it wouldn't make sense) or Brayko.
  13. Oh, the OLD Fates Warning. Never listened anything from them.
  14. There's been a Bethesda press event in Las Vegas, and Russ Pitts (Escapist's editor) confirmed that he's been there and that the embargo will lift in may. So I'd expect new previews, info and screens soon-ish.
  15. It's funny they never mentioned that the "new developer" is actually the, uh... old developer. Also, I still can't get my head around this "shot in the face & born again" dilemma. Wouldn't it feel more natural if they had just beat the courier into a pulp? Both the 'facial reconstruction' and being found alive would make more sense... Oh well, I guess it's a story thing. Actually, consider two things : 1) There have been cases (plenty actually) of people who surviev headshots in reality too. 2) The medical science in Fallout's world is much more advanced, almost miracolous, compared to our. So yeah, doesn't particularly bother me. Depending on who tried to kill you, the fact that they shot you in the head instead of beating you may be an hint that they're professionals, but that's just speculation.
  16. GamesRadar New Vegas Preview. Apparently it's just an online version of the Xbox360 World's one, but it still clarifies a few points.
  17. The Bioware forums aren't closed though. Strange that he can't post there.
  18. You're mixing the background of the setting which is quite silly and the situations presented in the game itself which are typical of the post-apocalyptic genre. I also don't understand what a humorous perk as anything to do with it. I'm pretty sure that if you asked Hideo Kojima if he wanted Metal Gear Solid to be taken seriously he'd answer yes, and yet the game is full of over-the-top, 4th wall-breaking moments, and has even quite a few humorous items. By your logic that too is a silly game? (I'm not arguing about the quality of the game or how one may judge it, mind you)
  19. I dunno I played it again and finished it again just something like 2 weeks ago, maybe, just maybe I know what I'm talking about. Also, I liked Fallout 2, and think it was an interesting take on the setting, but the tone was very much different from Fallout 1. Fallout 1 took itself seriously, Fallout 2 didn't. I also think that, from the sound of it, New Vegas is doing it right, they're focusing on the right things. I'm perfectly aware also of the fact that FO1's setting was far from all-realized. Heck, Tim Cain and Chris Taylor couldn't even agree on the origin of the ghouls!
  20. Nothing to complain here, the graphics are pretty good too.
  21. I was actually talking about Fallout 1. And honestly, stickers aren't game content, so it's not like you're making a particularly vaild point.
  22. That's kinda the point though. Nukes and orbital laser are perfectly fine as ultimate weapons in Fallout but many feel that using them for killing raiders.. strains hit a bit. Mind you, I'm not denying that Fallout has always been on the silly side, since Fallout 1 (again, though, the silliness was subdued for the most part), but there's a balance that's difficult to strike that I feel hasn't been reproduced in Fallout 2 (too much self-awareness) and in Fallout 3 (too much of a contrast between the juvenile humor and the juvenile grittiness). Also, it seems that we have two very different views on the setting, since I could never envision a super-hero quest in Fallout (and in fact, I hated the Fallout 3 quest).
  23. Except they make no mention of its rpg-ness in their announcement.
  24. Anyway, I don't know why, but when I read the title of this thread I imagine it sang on KISS's 'Calling Dr.Love'.
