  1. Some pretty unforgiving comments on Obsidian there. Anyway, I doubt the game was really THAT close to being finished, especially when I recall a developer saying that they needed to work on it at least another year.
  2. The only thing I did with the GECK was playing a bit to change the Initiate's armor (no T-45d but rather a normal Combat Armor), so I don't know how much help I can be but I can point out a few things : 1 - One good way to ask for help for a Fallout 3 mod is to visit the Nexus and Bethesda's forum, since the community there it's obviously the most expert on these kind of things. 2 - You'll probably want to post the final (or even WIP if you desire) version on the Nexus and some other big modding sites. As far as I know the Nexus is the biggest and it usually highlights new mod, so as long as the description is clear and you put a couple of images here and there, you should manage to grab some attention with the finished mod. 3 - There are already plenty of radio mods on the Nexus so you should definitely download some of them and contact the authors for know-how and copyright issues (I use a mod called More Where That Came From or something like that that adds 100 50's songs to GNR, and greatly reduces Three Dogs talks, since it also adds spots taken directly from the Fallout 3's viral website, civil security's tape recording etc.). Hope it helps.
  3. Any word on alignment? Will we tell you our alignment in private Blank? Will you even use them? I have a couple of very rough character concepts in mind, I see if I manage to flesh them out into something interesting and then choose. I may also just recycle a few of unused NPC from my prematurely dead D&D FR campaign and just roll with it though. Hey, if Obsidian can do it with Van Buren, I can certainly do it with a D&D campaign.
  4. I don't know, I already think we have a decent picture of the game from dev diaries and previews, both the pros (extremely varied gameplay and good cinematic storytelling with a focus on C&C) and the flaws (lackluster enemy AI, animations, etc.). What I don't understand is the excessive focus on graphics (yeah they're not on Crysis-level, geez, could we please stop talking about them?) and some absurd complaints like Thorton sounding like a jerk or absurd Mass Effect comparison (you see? hacking? MASS EFFECT!). To be honest though, since I'm essentially a selfish person, as long as the game satisfies me I'm fine.
  5. Well the screenshots I posted here aren't old.
  6. I must admit I don't see where's the ugly and dated engine in the screenshots. Last game I played running on Unreal has been Batman : AA (never finished it though, since my brother sold it before I could ) on the X360 and it was only marginally better (mainly better animations and slightly better textures/models for characters). Though, I admit I never did really read any reviews, so maybe it was panned for its graphics.
  7. Well i DMed a campaign in the 3.5 version on the FR, precisely in the Sword Coast, so, while the details now are a bit fuzzy, I'm familiar enough, I just will need to refresh myself a bit (and probably read the 2nd ed. manuals about the setting). Fortunately I believe a lot of settings manuals were (are they still?) available for free on the WotC D&D website (I distinctly remember dling a manual about the northern coast just because I wanted to get a better feel of Neverwinter).
  8. I can't really see anything except a larger version of his forum's avatar and that he apparently likes Fallout New Vegas and Hayao Miyazaki. I don't have Facebook however, so that's the most probable reason.
  9. I'll try to look into the dvd of Baldur's Gate (and BGII) since the Trilogy edition didn't came with a printed manual (they also didn't put Tales of the Sword Coast, and Throne of Bhaal is only localized, and trust me, I'm still bitter about it).
  10. I'll try to think of a decent character concept.. is there, perchance, some streamlined manual for AD&D 2.5 somewhere on the net (I'm talking about legal means of course)? While I've played both Baldur's Gates and Planescape Torment I'd still like to see if I can get a better grasp of the mechanics.
  11. Other two new previews : Telegraph NowGamer Apparently the Telegraph thinks that dialogue sucks. Ouch. P.S. : Be mindful of the spoilers in the NowGamer preview.
  12. Oblivion had a rack of 95's. Back, front and all over. Greatest crpg ever. And so forth. hmm. Oh, right. Also Bioshock. Bioshock was overrated but not a bad game by any shot. As for Oblivion.. uhm..
  13. Nice fault sillogism here. Still, I mostly agree with you about dull and boring games (I used to like action games before regen health) so I don't want to start a discussion. Was basically interested in 'The Witcher 2 goin' mainstream and dull and boring'. Was hoping you could at least say something like 'no inventory limit + you can make potions everywhere'.
  14. Summary of a polish preview.
  15. Since I have enough time to post about Alpha Protocol's expected sales I guess I have enough time to post here.
  16. I'm not particularly interested since I'll probably buy the game from a UK site like Play.com or TheHut but here's the news (I assume it was already mentioned but BestBuy/Sega hadn't confirmed?) about the stealth pack pre-order (stolen directly from GameBanshee): In Obsidian's Alpha Protocol, your number one weapon is choice. And, everyone knows that out on the battlefield, surrounded by enemies with death potentially lurking around every corner, even the best of the best agents are still going to need all the firepower they can get their hands on. Which is why today we
  17. I'd be interested in playing though I'm not sure if I have time, not to mention that I jumped in D&D directly with 3.5 and only ever played that edition.
  18. Actually there's been a good deal of PR in these weeks, character vignettes, lots of previews, even a spot aired during 24 IIRC. As for the reception, the pre-order charts last time I looked were moderately positive, the comments on the gaming sites were basically concerned about graphics and AI, not to mention the usual 'it looks too much like Mass Effect', but it's not the first time I see stupid comment like that, they were always there even for Dragon Age and it turned out a success. Mind you, it was backed up by EA and I doubt AP will have the same success, but I also doubt it will fail.
  19. I already know enough info to be reasonably sure that it will turn out ****ty. Being able to join all the factions in the same playthrough, not being able to come back to old sections of the map after you finish a chapter, normal level system without trainers... the minimap, I'll wait before judgin' it, if you gain it only after having bought/stolen/gained a map it's ok for me otherwise... yeah I can turn it off but it's another atmosphere killer for me. Mind you, it can still turn out a decent game, it won't be Gothic for me however.
  20. If only Tali wasn't the superspecial daughter of an ultra-important member of the government.. it seemed so... unnecessary. P.S. : Am I the only one reminded of Battlestar Galactica when I hear the story of the Quarians?
  21. See this thread. The eventual conclusion was that the proper Latin for what they were trying to say was "Quo nemo sequi potest." Maybe that didn't fit well enough on the logo... I think we actually saw the corrected version in one of the dossier's screenshots. So it's either old footage or they didn't correct the texture of the floor.
  22. I didn't even notice the 'Nullus can insisto'. The trailer is good though.
  23. http://www.newsweek.com/id/236096 Will attempt to respond more fully later. Reliable datas. Good. They don't exactly paint a rosy picture though.
  24. I wouldn't hold my breath for it.. I haven't seen a game that runs in 4:3 for consoles in ages, but hey, I mostly play on PC.
