Chinese expansionism
For a while when this dispute first began I thought it could possibly lead to WWIII but now is more like them flexing their muscles and testing each other's strength.

What you did today
Worked out, I fed two stray dogs that hang around my backyard. They have been consistently coming for at least two weeks and I have taken it upon myself to keep them fed, I'm now looking to see if any of the lost dogs description match any of the two. Oh and its also my birthday so yay, I guess.

This may be weird, but I kind of like reinstalling all my programs on a new computer.

Question, how do you pass the time while waiting for your new rig to arrive next week thanks to the god forsaken holidays?

Yes, because that's how a Ponzi scheme works. You take the money and put in the work until you deliver a product and then end up on the same condition as you started hoping that other people are foolish enough to fall for your scheme. Torment may be many things but seeing as the company seems to be hoping to make a comeback based on the 2 games they have in production, I sincerly doubt that its a cash grab.

Game Idea & Question of Development
You obviously don't work freelance on a creative field and interact directly with your client. If you did you wouldn't have used a painting as an example because the translation of how the client pictures something on their mind to what the artist creates is a very involved process. The simple way that my teacher taught this to us is " A bucket on a rope" he told us to draw it. I drew the bucket hanging because that's how I visualized it, if the bucket is on a rope then it probably hangs from somewhere. He then drew a buck on the floor tied to a rope. You only need to look at the process of conceptualizing and how artist have to present multiple versions of an idea to the client before they choose. The concept that this can be done within a community that doesn't interact directly with each other in real time, that is populated with people from different backgrounds and that has a limited understanding of the process of building a game, is idealistic. Also, freelancing is a bitch to put up with specially when is a bad client I doubt there are many developers that are going to put up with gamers. Gamers, who aren't known by being reasonable or calm. @Anubite: Nice post!

What are you playing now?
Please spare the Daughter of Chaos. In fact, head on back down into the Chasm of the Abyss and farm 80 humanity for the poor girl. Her story is just sooo tragic *sniff*. Don't her sister was a bitch, and he brother was a mayor ****. The other sister is cool but just kill them both for completion sake, also you should kill the fake princess and the wannabe princess (Gwyn and Gwynevere) it makes Anor Londo so much interesting.

Movies you've seen recently
I love it when you talk film to me. But hey; big dreams on small countries, can't really blame them for wanting to make a big movie even though they don't have the budget.

The only good thing about the new OldBoy is that it has inspired me to research foreign remakes of American films. Nothing compares to watching Nigerian Titanic, or Indian ET.

But you're wrong, hipsters everywhere love it and say of how similar it is to Drive.

DA2 has too much baggage and is too 'easy' a target. Far better to pick a generally well regarded and certainly less polarising game which illustrates the flaw as part of its generally well regarded whole rather than one where we'll end up with the DA2 wars #32456 in a set of 1 million. It'd also invite comparisons with some more polarising TB titles- Arcanum, whose TB combat was not always the best implemented, designed or balanced; or Wizardry 8, which had the potential to make the Deep Roads look like a quick frolic through a field of wildflowers even when using WizFast (though at least Wiz8 was consistently challenging...). Fundamentally, trying to prove one or the other is better/ worse by looking at the worst implementations is generally counter productive- you have to hope that whatever method they chose they'll take the best from the system and design to its strengths, not its weaknesses. I consider DA2 to be an excellent case study for game design, I can say that its worth mulling over it because it was bad but I get your point. It really depends on how they have designed the mechanics, in Arcanum the TB slightly unbalanced the game because of exp gain on hits. Companions that never get around to fighting lose out on some of those points. It was an issue arising from two different mechanics not working well together. So it could really go either way, but for my curiosity does anyone recall a game with real time/pause where that mechanic clashed with another?

Game Idea & Question of Development
That seems fine but there is another issue; right now there is an argument on these forums about Torment being turn based. This was a developer's choice, which begs the question of what to do when there is a discrepancy between what the community wants and what is feasible for the developers. In the end whose game it is? The community's or the developer's?

He had also become somewhat critical of the state of the industry, I think he may be excited to work on something that may change the face of gaming.
