  1. I guess no one on that thread knew the plot of The Omen.
  2. I'm pretty sure Anders will be in it, since letting him live was a HUGE option in DA2. Sure, let's make the terrorist, gay, apostate, possessed mage a recurring character. Good role models are overrated in my opinion.
  3. Hopefully they won't fall into the current trend of having huge system and memory requirement just because is supposed to be a next gen game. Even though it runs on current gen and looks like it as well. I would say that if your PC can run current gen there is no reason why it shouldn't run DA:I.
  4. You're right about that much. It's all color-coded morality. Oh no! I have too much red in my meter! Better say some nice things! Watch out, being nice also equals "I want to put my crotch in your crotch" in Biowarese. Biowarian. Whatever the subtextual language is called. I know this element of Bioware games has been exaggerated for dramatic effect but you'd think they could come up with an option to let your more lascivious companions down gently. Also I'm trying to bring lascivious back, spread the word.
  5. You two have been arguing a lot lately and need to get an avatar so I can tell who's which. Its like having three Volourns :shudders: (No offense Vol)
  6. Funny how you're adamant about disregarding statistics based solely on skepticism for no sake other than speculation. It seems pretty straightforward, there was a legislation for banning guns and ever since it passed crime has been steadily on the rise. Even if you take economic factors there is still a steady incline with no plateaus; crime stats would have to show an inversely proportional relation with economic growth or a similar economic measure. That is if you want to prove that crime rise is not solely the result of a gun ban, but I can still say that a gun ban is a contributing factor in the increase of crime. So whichever way you interpret it the fact is that there has been a increase on violent crimes since 1996.
  7. That seems like a decent place to go with the series, although I dread what they will do to the history. Robespierre gets an artifact and uses it to cause the revolution, he goes mad with power kill a bunch of people so your character takes it away from him and the people kill him. The end. didn't that happen on Warehouse 13? Love that show. Edit: and it was also on Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics.
  8. Funny thing is, even if you are a decker yourself, the game doesn't detect it correctly as of 1.2.5, so you are forced to bring a decker NPC regardless. This stopped my second playthrough dead on its tracks. Strange, I played a decker and I didn't have an issue.

  10. Sure, but then the argument could easily be for an evil character "I'll just let someone else fix this" ...there are other Grey Wardens and kingdoms that would more than likely join forces if there was a threat that really threatened the whole world? That sounds like a capitalist. I guess they want the spectrum of evil alignments, so far most examples given have been lawful. It seems evil players are more discerning in their taste.
  11. They don't want to make evil decision as much as roleplay evil characters, because slitting throats isn't enough you need to cackle afterwards.
  12. You can get around that if your team is small enough that character/environment artists can just use their own licenses. If you have an art team of less than 5 people then you really don't need corporate/volume licenses. This GDC has put doubt in my mind and among my colleagues about either getting UDK or Unity, either way I'm learning C# or C++.
  13. It's based solely on the name, since I know nothing about the content of either game. I mean the commonality itself isn't that great, but for me it's just a combination of a negating prefix plus some random word. I also used to get Company of Heroes mixed up with Medal of Honor, up until the point I played the former. So you're not a native English speaker, then (that's your best excuse at this point)? The words are phonetically quite distinct, and their meanings are practically polar opposites. To be uncharted is to be unknown, to be infamous is to be well-known. Also, something about Dragon Age 3 or something. Give the guy a break, its hard to tell these middle age bald men protagonists from each other.
  14. Today I have come to terms with the fact that I like that awful 90's euro dance/pop music, don't judge me.
  15. I don't know why but a lot of the new programmers are fans of Python.
  16. This seem to be a common thing these days, recession (I'm sure is a depression) hits hard.
  17. Well, if you're a commie then you would know that money is bad. Seriously though, the same logic in Das Kapital applies here: Capital allows someone who hasn't the capacity to do work to own the means, which means that the guy that doesn't know a thing about making games is the one financing them. I think we all know of cases where publisher oversight turns a game into a failure. I can't recall if that was the reason for turning ME2 into a GOW clone or if that was a decision from Bio, does anyone know?
  18. They also handpicked Obsidian for the job, so of all the game companies in the world they choose Obsidian. But that was probably cause they were within driving distance.
  19. "m/d/y is a better way of dating things, because that is how we say the date. And kilos are for drug dealers." As a Hispanic man with one cousin in prison for dealing drugs i'm mildly offended by that.
  20. I was horrified by all those microtransactions.
  21. Now that's an interesting question, I would think that players could make the distinction between their character's motivation and their's. If I had to guess why BW is singled out it would be because they offer choices only to have the character or the story invalidate them further along. Add to that the sequential nature of many of their games and there are a lot of people whose playthroughs of past games are rendered "fake". I guess is not really motivation that people have a gripe about as much as the linearity in BW's non linear writing, if that makes sense.
  22. Fortress of Vampires, it made me laugh.
  23. Good luck! If by "the same kind I think fans of my past games want as well," he means something along the lines of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (minus the Castlevania part, naturally), then I say yes, yes, yes, **** yes! What are the chances we see a Kickstarter from him (Inafune style) soon? I feel as though this is the right time for him to break out on his own, the last 2 Castlevania have taken a different direction and there is now a vacuum for Metrovania style games, Strider certainly seemed to try and capitalize that. It will be interesting to see what he can come up with on his own.
  24. Where would this "private matters " apply in a society. Where do the rules of equality not matter....Hades, Forgotten Realms maybe? Oh is this where you get those religious cult groups that live in remote parts of the country and where incest and pedophilia is practiced? Those are private matters.... If someone is prejudiced against LGTB, he should be allowed as long as they don't break the law. Legislation shouldn't be used to deny rights to either side of the fence and that means the right to freedom of speech. This is what some feminists and rights activists seem unable to comprehend, they assume their position to be the correct one and therefore enforcing it is a righteous act. I agree about the LGTB part but what if that person goes to a website and starts being homophobic? Websites have their forum rules, unfortunately that means that depending on the place honest dissent that is voiced politely can be perceived as a harmful speech and blocked. You can customize your web experience so that you're never exposed to other perspectives (and Google helps that a lot with search algorithms) Internet forums are often like gated communities, if there is a dominant view it will be the one that's enforced.Short answer is that moderators will take care of it based on the community rules/biases/ideology. For example, we don't tolerate bots. Sorry for the belated response, I was away for the weekend and only returned late last night. I'll just summarize my point. People keep saying " you can't say you live in country that allows free speech if you also say that certain words are not allowed to be used. This is a contradiction" But in the UK for example they prosecute people for using certain words and offensive descriptions on Twitter, yet they live in a Democracy that does practice free speech. I'm sure that in all other Western countries there are similar cases of people being charged for using certain words through social media in a way that is considered socially unacceptable This does not mean the country doesn't allow free speech. Thats my point. The problem in my perspective isn't the banning of words but the subversion through meaning to push a political agenda of a world that I'm not quite sure that I like or would want to live in. With rude speech it is pretty explicit in its usage and meaning because its purpose is to insult, but with appropriate words like bossy it has a different effect. What happens when a boy calls a girl bossy because she is being bossy? They are redefining a negative attitude as a positive which isn't going to make the world better but is better for them since it suits their ideal society. The more I hear about feminism the more I realize that it isn't about equality or equity is about taking the so called Patriarchy and turning into a Matriarchy. Which they would say is better since men suffer under a Patriarchy, men are the reason for all wars, while women are gentle and nurturing. I find it sadly ironic that they are using the same stereotypes established by the system they dislike to push theirs. An ideology of convenience for just one group is what it is and at this moment I really wish there was something other than Nazism that I could compare it to, but my knowledge is limited.
