There has to be market for the low budget games; just like there is for the movies. It is hard to turn a profit on smaller games because games rely almost solely on sales revenue.

I think that larger studios would have to be willing to lower their production budget and make less stellar (technologically) games that aren't massive productions. IDK if that Pandora's box can be closed, specially with big yearly juggernauts on the horizon like COD. It's very likely that everyone is still trying to find their yearly franchise. Just look at what Ubisoft is doing with AC.

As per usual, there is the intro guide to VtM:B (I liked how you wrote it): You shouldn't play Malkavian on your first playthrough, is a very different experience that may confuse if you don't know the story. It also takes some previous knowledge of the story to fully appreciate(translate) the Malkavian dialogue. If you're planning to do more than one playthrough, two suggestions: Try out the Clan Quest mod and put some space between your playthroughs. I don't know why but whenever I restart the game after I completed it I'm still on the mindframe of my previous character which somehow ruins my current one. After I wait for a bit I can get into the game without trouble. PS: I'm kind of jealous that you get to experience the Haunted house for the first time. -

I believe D&D doesn't translate well to video games, it denies player's agency and it turns combat to auto resolve based on stats. You only have to look at how every WRPG company has moved away from it and into hybrids. Dungeon Crawlers make me claustrophobic and seem more like a version of hell than a game, try to vary the environment some more instead of everything being a square. I also preferred NWN2 over BG, if only because combat wasn't as grueling. VTM:B is my all time best RPG ever. -
I'd say he's already there, he might even have an edge in a few areas. Perlman is the voice of Fallout, which is huge. But Vin voiced two very good Riddick games, and is actually the founder of the studio. Perlman is the leader of a tough as nails biker gang on TV, Vin is the leader of a car racing gang in Fast and Furious. Perlman is Hellboy, Vin is Riddick. Both have comic books. Honestly it's a pretty close comparison. As awesome as Ron Perlman is, Vin has the edge - everyone knows who Vin Diesel is. That will only last until Ron Perlman starts on his own Fast and the Furious.

I agree with you, also i'm not sold on some of the casting choices; Gamora and Drax specifically. Edit: Also I just remembered that this is the Wuss thread and not the Movies.

I usually prepare all my cooked food for the week on Sundays (free day) then I just have to heat it on weekdays. Saves me from the tiring task of cooking after a day's work. To be honest I don't know if it's because I'm foreign and my previous diet was all natural but I can't really digest heavily processed food all that well. Though I suspect that the people growing up on it just have become accustomed to having blood on their stool.- 165 replies

Just out of curiosity, could you tell me what companies have you worked for? If you aren't under an NDA and if you feel comfortable with saying of course. I won't take offense if you can't or won't. On the topic; maybe KL has realized that AAA as its stand is unsustainable and has jumped ship. Edit: On retrospective, I remember how different the shipped product was from the preview gameplay. There seems to have been a lot of features that were reworked or scrapped that could have ultimately pulled B:I from bland and into the realm of interesting.

I remember reading that article a while back and watching his videos on Big Think and his IFC series. Ever since then I refer him to my friends as the "inspirational rock guy". Edit: He sucks as a musician though, but I still like him.

I think in the cases of "proven" men like your examples there is no need for chest pumping as they know themselves, potential and limitations alike and have nothing to prove. People experience things either introverted or extroverted, where the latter values action and sensation more than rationale. So they tend to act first and then think but they gain a lot more world experience and as a result have a better defined character. The modern world(at least in privileged countries ) has sheltered their youth for fear of their safety, they have been neglected outlets for their impulses which has led to some strange behavior and a skewed view of the world. So you have a good amount of people that don't know themselves, with defense mechanics that they have developed while in a repressive institution, who are now being exposed to the world. Suffice it to say that they don't know how to cope.

Pretty much. The idea that "educational efforts don't really work" is absurd and easily disproven by the fact that you have savage apes elevated to the status of neurosurgeons because of educational efforts. The whole of human civilization is based on the transmission of knowledge so claiming it doesn't work is... not very well grounded in reality. But one does not need to find such grand examples—the awareness raising and educational approach to sexual health in the last few decades has worked pretty well in reducing the impact of STDs, especially HIV. But hey, let's tax sex outside of marriage! Because those dirty pigs must pay! smh edit: seriously what's with font size changes? Education; while being important is useless nonetheless when there isn't a healthy alternative to high calorie foods. You could have people go to schools and try to educate in proper eating but as long as the vending machine in the corner is still choke full of candy and other crap it is all moot. The problem isn't just education and the public but the hold that the Food industry has over society.- 165 replies

Why, the Terrible One is Odin the Allfather, of course! He "rode" Yggdrasil for nine days, a sacrifice from himself to himself, and from this experience came away with the runes. Havamal! The question on my mind is, having given his sword to Skirnir as a reward for delivering word of his desire/threats to Gerd, why didn't Freyr make another one or have a replacement made by the dwarves? If he's omnipotent why does only have one eye?

And the answer to both question is: "50 Shades of Grey"

Moderation has however become politicized on some places where a voice of dissent is disregarded as it just being some troublemaker, even if the wording is polite and makes an actual point.

Seems that crappy stupid study made the news

Work on hard skills such as learning scripting/programming and start learning about game engines. Moreover you'll probably need soft skills more than other jobs since successfully pitching a game idea is mostly interpersonal skills. Plus knowing a bit of business couldn't hurt.

In quick google search I've found taxes stranger than that; eg: the beard tax, the disagreeing with the king tax or the existence tax. Its becoming clear that tax might be a legal form of robbery by which the government charges you for privileges that don't come from them.- 165 replies

Problem is that there are a lot of people misusing the term troll to include people who have an actual disagreement but can't word it eloquently or politely. People have retreated to their own self contained internet communities where people all seem to share a common ideology and might perceive discern as trolling.

Somehow I find the whole thing a bit hard to believe. Sure there is something a bit sadistic about a person who spends his/her time coming up with ways to aggravate others but the study seems lacking somehow. Trolling is a childish act at it's core, just like a child motivation behind misbehavior so may be the intent behind trolling. Yet however despicable a child might be (and I would use the same language as in the article to describe a child) I don't consider him/her inherently evil since they have a lacking understanding of right and wrong which should come with age. So I guess trolls are just either emotionally immature which just puts them with the rest of this generation.
