Maybe the robes are embroidered with lots and lots of tiny little advice?

I liked the Swoop races. Of course, they would have been even better if you had actually been able to turn left and right, instead of just going straight forward. Oh, and the ability to modify your swoop racer would have been awesome. Let's hope they don't can that idea again!

I have a feeling this feature would only be interesting if you, as a player, had direct control over your character and was able to perform all the neat sword moves yourself. Otherwise you'll just get the same "fight movie" running over and over again..

Don't force me to play a jedi

I can already picture you, fat and wobbly, sliding around in your own drool.. -
I've always wanted to play the role of Princess Leia in her skimpy brass outfit.. Wait a minute, this isn't PsychiatristOnline.com!

I really hope the fattened part in the quote isn't true!!

What WE want to be Delaware Project

It would be nice to see another real Fallout 3.. -
As usual you're so wrong it almost hurts. Debates are not something you win or lose, especially not on an internet geek board. I would ignore some people because they have nothing interesting or even slightly insightful to add. Ever. They only waste space. Like you.

Another Russian third person RPG emerging: Blood Magic It features a co-op function! I love Sacred's co-op so maybe this could become interesting. Edit: Well, I noticed "The Bloody Magic" was already in the list, but since that link doesnt work you might as well add this one instead. Also, Sacred could be removed now since it's been released already.

Possibly a break in info *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

It would be neat if this "Crose" character was actually one of the Obsidian employees feeling sorry for leaving us faithful fans out in the cold for so long and decided to share at least something anonymously. Unfortunately, the chances of that little daydream being true = 0%. Sigh. -
You sound like you're describing a coloured pornstar..

You know, the very first thing that raced through my mind after reading this was: "Oh yeah?! You just wait and I'll show you a colourful, brutally graphic, highly creative and original crude PM, and it's going to be the best you've ever read!". Weird. My mind must have interpreted your post as some kind of dare. Hope it doesn't work the same way on all the perverts and (other) weirdos on these boards.

I usually like games with lots of keyboard shortcuts the most, although I must say I kind of liked TOEE's strange, circular interface. It was pretty.

The KRASS engine would be an excellent choice for this type of game, since it combines third person views with the IE isometric style (although still using polygons/textures). It worked great in SPellforce and the graphics were awesome. The best thing is that people get to choose the view that suits them the best with this engine. I'd play the game using Gothic-style third person view while the hellspawn I am quoting would probably use the isometric IE-style. The only negative thing I can think about regarding the KRASS engine is that it takes a lot of computer power to run. When my armies in Spellforce reached 80 or so soldiers and they fought another army, my framerates dropped down to around 12-15 fps (on my Radeon 9800 Pro, 1024x768). Otherwise it would be perfect!

This drove me insane. How to make you're game feel fake, 101. It wouldn't have been so bad if you couldn't jump 10 feet in the air when watching the combat. Unfortunately, this is a common "feature" in many games. Imagine how it feels in Colin McRae 2 when you hit a small bush with your car and it comes to a dead halt and your wheels fall off.. One thing they REALLY need to implement in KotOR 2 is true mouselook! I can live with the constrained world (without jumping/climbing) if only I get mouselook. Of course, the best would be if they made it like Gothic/Gothic 2: third person, huge world without in-game loading times, lots of climbing/exploring/jumping and mouselook.

There are so many super-powerful engines out there right now, it feels like it would be a total waste of time to start creating one from scratch. Imagine an RPG using the Crytek engine (Far Cry). Imagine an RPG using the Valve engine (Of course, Bloodlines will use it). Imagine an RPG using the KRASS engine (Spellforce, Aquanox). Any of those engines (my favourites right now) together with the game designing talent of Obsidian would have great potential for becoming classic games.

Remember this is the "Feel free to post but don't expect an answer"-board. It's probably highly classified if they're hiring one or two or ten people. If you knew the exact amount you'd have to die!

I noticed they mentioned Van Buren in this article so I figured I should post it here. Perhaps someone finds something of interest in it. I thought it was a good read.

I recently talked to a guy who QA:s for Starbreeze Studios (they made Enclave) and DAMN, that guy is something special! He was playtesting Starbreeze's new Xbox game and he could complete the damn thing in around 20 minutes (rough estimation)! If you've ever seen that insane movie floating around on the internet of that guy who plays through Quake 2 in 12 minutes, THAT's how it looked. Unbelievable. Not only that, he had all these journals (well organized too) filled with notes and bugs and fixes and suggestions and what not. If there's an error in a game, he will find it. I've done som QA myself, but it was on a voluntary basis (Endless Ages/There/some others). I don't think I've got what it takes to be a QA professional after watching that guy at work though.

You haven't heard everything. If you want to hear everything on things I feel strongly about I can PM you a novel or two. (tee hee) By the way, Gothic 2 sucks. I never played Gothic, but if the sequel sucks it stands tp reason that the previous game does as well. Just thought you should know since you were expecting me to say that. (BWAAHAAAHAAAAA! ) An ignore function might be a good idea. Sometimes Karzak can me a little annoying with his Cain worshipping, but with V:tM Bloodlines coming it has some sort of irony with the whole Children of Cain mythology built into the setting. Oh by the way, Gothic 2 sucks. :D Ok, this post was actually kind of funny. Maybe I should rethink my ignore-choice? Naah.
-
I would only ignore one person who constantly posts "Gothic sucks" in every thread I participate in/start. It really feels like I've already heard everything his simple brain can come up with.

Well, the movie(s) didn't really show that much, but it certainly didn't look like hack and slash to me. I define hack and slash by having to fight horde after horde of monsters while optimizing your character. What was shown in the movie(s) was some dialogue, some inventory manipulating and some combat. And it looked quite good.
-
I watched the movies (Thanks, Llyranor!) and now I want it (Dungeon Lords) even more It looks like Gothic /Gothic 2 for crying out loud! Gotta love the quick interface, the paperdoll inventory and the dialogue system though. It's starting to look really good, in my opinion. Oh.. And I wouldn't call Gothic/Gothic 2 hack 'n slash either. There's a difference between hack 'n slash and action-RPG.

Ok, Atari is a huge company. I am sure one little failed attempt with a CRPG won't stop them from using their licenses ever again. I'm not even sure that TOEE was a big failure sales wise..

The game Chaser is a great example of how a graphics engine should be built. At the time I was reviewing it, I didn't know how it worked, so i reviewed the game based upon my experiences on my own computer. On my computer (that has lots of RAM) the game world seemed to be huge and never needed to load in between levels. Of course, I praised that fact. Then I played the game on a friends smaller computer and the levels were much smaller and occasionally needed to load new data. Apparently the game scaled the amount of level data being loaded at any one time so it suited the machine it was currently being played on. The worst example of console-to-PC-turning-crap syndrome I've seen so far is Deus Ex: Invisible War and that's mainly because the levels are tiny compared to Deus Ex (Ok, so it has lots of other problems too). If DX:IW had utilized the same system as Chaser it would have been able to play on an Xbox (low memory) but still not suck bigtime on the PC. This is what I hope Obsidian Entertainment does for KOTOR2 too.. Oh, and controls that use mouselook plus sharp (non-Xbox) textures would be a great thing too..
