Woohoo! I found my avatar! But it became rather small.. So it's quite hard to see what it is. It is actually the entire world map for the game Wasteland. The original picture was 1200x1175 so it had to shrink a little before becoming an avatar.

What view would you like in Project X?
mkreku replied to mkreku's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Seems like Pre-rendered Isometric view (like in Fallout) won. Geez, people are still stuck in the stoneage! Oh well.. Guess I'll just sit back and wait for Gothic 3 instead.. -
Signature Request: Disable pictures and max size

So you mean having different names, writing skills and even avatars isn't enough? -
Don't say that! When I played through Divine Divinity, my girlfriend saw me playing and seemed interested. I didn't think much about it and went to work. When I got back my character was like.. 20 levels higher than when I left and almost all the fog of war had been erased! She blames the cat, but I don't believe her.

I own a RPG that's called Prince of Xin, and it's set in ancient China. You play a prince that's being hunted by his own father and you have to travel through China and solve quests and gather friends for the final confrontation. It's isometric, has good graphics but I don't remember if the combat was turn based or not. I think it was, but I'm not sure. All you isometric-turn-based-combat-ninja dudes should give it a try!

Maybe some of the letters in one of the messages formed a war map of Iraq?

Customizable, driveable vehicles. And don't even mention that silly thing in Fallout 2! Imagine having a game world like in GTA: Vice City (Huge, free, all 3D with lots and lots of driveable vehicles), combined with the Fallout-universe and Havok physics.. That could easily be my dream game. I wouldn't even care for a story

Oookkk.. Now my post looks exceptionally whiny and stupid since the post by Fionavar I was referring to was also changed when he altered his signature. Oh well. -

Wow. Thank you, Iolo. That was easily the best post I've ever seen on these boards. I trust Brian Fargo, even though most of you on these board don't seem to like him. Just remember, there's NO developer with a perfect record. Even geniuses have bad days. Except perhaps Peter Molyneaux.. Maybe I should give that RPGCodex a try?

Hey, anything with the name Wasteland in it gets my hopes (and spirits) up! I've waited soooo long for someone to pick up that license and actually DO something with it. I'd buy it even it it was Phantom exclusive..

I usually prefer sequels to the original game, myself. Like the example of Thief 2: Metal Age over Thief.. Or Daggerfall over Arena (but not Morrowind!).. Colin McRae 2 over Colin McRae.. GTA: Vice City over GTA3... and so on. Sequels are a way for intelligent and skillful developers to sort out the worst problems from the original and add more content and features, based on what the fans and community appreciated the most. An attentive developer could really benefit from a board like this, but it takes a lot of work to distill the good parts from all the trash that immediately fills any public board.

will project X feature a brothel?
mkreku replied to poolofpoo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Gothic 2 actually has a working brothel, in the harbour district of the town Khorinis.. If you pay for one of the lovely ladies in there, you get to follow her to her room and then there's actually a full motion video of you and her making love all night long Wasteland also had brothels and prostitutes.. All "functional", but with one major drawback: you got some nasty veneral diseases! (really funny actually) Hrmm.. Those two games are two of my most favourite CRPG's of all time.. Both have working brothels.. Coincidence?! -
Geez, don't even joke about that. It reminds me of a movie I rented one very boring summer, called "The Chair" (the movie, that is, not the summer) I think the catchphrase on the box said something like "The Chair That Wouldn't Die" It was a horror movie, but it was also the worst movie I've ever seen. Seriously.

Hey! My mom buys and plays every adventure game there is. Her favourites are Grim Fandango, The Longest Journey and Syberia. She has a life!! I think..

Use the sniper kitty, dangerously cute. Oh, yeah, that's me personified. So cute it hurts.

Hrmm.. Maybe it is my turn to hijack this thread.. I'd better find myself an avatar before I reach level 2 at least!

What view would you like in Project X?
mkreku replied to mkreku's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It does, after you've played through Gothic/Gothic 2 about ten times for each game and fallen in love with that style. After that it's really hard to go back to isometric games.. Deus Ex didn't exactly help with my love for the isometric style either. -
Oohh.. Groundhog Day..

Haha, Star Wars-fans are funny, damnit! Especially those fat kids who dress up like Han Solo and make slobbering swishing noises, with their plastic lightsabres swinging wildly from their chubby little hands, while drooling all over themselves thinking they look reeaaally manly. I can't wait.

What Type Of Game Would You Like
mkreku replied to Megatron's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
May I suggest you take a look at "Devil Whiskey" then? It's a game similar to the old Bard's Tale games, but with somwhat spiffier graphics. It's being developed by a small development team, so I think it's only availible as a download from the internet.. yet. Anyhow, take a look at http://www.devilwhiskey.com/main.html where they even have a free demo for downloading. (I tried the demo and it's a good game) -

What view would you like in Project X?
mkreku replied to mkreku's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I might add that I voted for Third Person (like in KotOR). But I really want third person, like in Gothic (freelook!). I'm surprised that the scores are so even. I was expecting the isometric views to take a huge lead, considering all I've heard from people on other threads. I'm glad it isn't so -
What type of engine is Project X using?
mkreku replied to Ellester's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
So I've heard. I've read nothing but bad things about Deus Ex: Invisible War and I'm going to have to review it when it is released later this month. It scares me, since Deus Ex (the original) belongs on my "Top 5 Games Of All Time"-list. -
What type of engine is Project X using?
mkreku replied to Ellester's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I always thought that too, but Deus Ex really pulled it off. When you started the game you had low stats in everything, so when you picked up your first sniper rifle (for example) and aimed through its sights, your aim swayed heavily in all directions. If you're a skilled player (unlike me) you could probably hit anything anyhow, but it was definitely much harder than your average FPS. After a while of playing you got the chance to modify your weapons and you could add (again for example) weights to your sniper rifle, balancing it. It made your weapon steadier and slightly easier to aim with. Or you could spend the experience points you got by solving quests and killing foes by upgrading your sniper rifle skills, thus making it even easier to aim. In the end you had perfect accuracy and your aim was completely still. Even though Deus Ex is played in a first person view, it still relies heavily on stats. And it works perfectly.
