I'm so happy it's gone. Maybe now we'll be seeing more innovative game mechanics and interesting settings in our RPG's.

Well, one thing that Origin does way better than Steam is download speeds: Of course, that may well be because noone except me actually downloads anything from there.. Edit: It's actually rising. I think this is the first service that has capped my line:

I can actually. The writing doesn't stand out much (as most of us agree), but that goes both ways. Not bad, not very good. Serviceable. In writing terms being unremarkable is in most cases worse than being actively bad. At least actively bad stuff like 2-dog/ Moira/ Jean-Luc Picard Uriel Septim is memorable, if the best you can say about writing is "well, it exists" then it may as well not. Your post was unremarkable. Please stop posting until you write something truly bad or a true pearl of wisdom. Is that how your logic works? As I already said, not all writing has to be memorable or noteworthy. As long as it is serviceable, it is OK. Just like in real life, on bulletin boards, in movies, in newspapers and, yes, even in books. As long as it keeps your interest long enough for you to find the gems, it's OK. I also disagree with your opinion that actively bad is better than serviceable. Actively bad ruins a game for me. Serviceable is just that, serviceable. Sometimes that's all that's needed, as long as there are some good parts too.

I can actually. The writing doesn't stand out much (as most of us agree), but that goes both ways. Not bad, not very good. Serviceable. And then there are some gems. It really is good enough for me. Not every quest, every line of dialogue must be a pearl of wisdom to cherish in your dreams and write sweaty fanfic about. Remember, it's such a vast game compared to something like Planescape: Torment: The Corridor Simulator: The Novel Wannabe. There will be highs and lows. Overall I've had a very positive vibe from this game. The quest design. Well, I have never played any game with such a varied set of quests. I've gotten quests from eavesdropping on people, from reading random notes in the wilderness, from reading books in bookshelves, from picking up innocuous swords, from sleeping in the wrong inn, from killing the right person.. I even got a quest because I picked up a red, annoying flower! I LOVE THAT!! I love that anything can evolve into a quest! I picked a random safe in some random building in some random village, and lo and behold, one of the items triggered a quest. Fantastic! I've helped a weirdo fix his wagon, I've hunted trophy animals for a crazed hunter, I've competed in an archery contest with some girl on a mountain top, I've explored sunken ships for stranded captains, I've fought the demons inside a mad god's mind, I've stolen goats from giants, I've invaded castles together with an army, I've competed in a drinking contest with a cheat (and I might have ended up married, not sure), I've helped a dog return to his immortal master, I've joined up with a ghost girl to reclaim some honor and some treasure, I've hunted down bandits, vampires, werewolves, assassin's, you name it. I've so far done over 300 quests and sure, some of them were not worth the time it took to complete them, but man.. I've had a lot of fun with this game.

I've always wondered why American football is so supremely boring to me. Now I know.

I'm only really interested in the hockey. It will be all kinds of awesome.

It's so big I had to remove one of the harddrive cages to fit it in my case. Oh, and I also went out and bought a nice IPS screen with 2560x1440 resolution to try to stress this card. And I managed! I put everything on Ultra settings in Far Cry 3 with 8xMSAA at 2560x1440 and my poor card can only manage 30-40 fps.

Well, that's another thing Bethesda does really well: DLC. I had no idea it was DLC as it's so embedded within the game that I totally didn't notice (I bought the game with all expansions already applied in a Steam sale).

I have a Hawaii and BF4 (came with the card), but the reports I've seen so far is making me hold off too. It really is a beta.

I'd blame the god damned government that thinks it has more right to your earnings than you do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPKKQnijnsM Yes.. the government..

Been playing a lot of Skyrim, and I must say that I don't understand why you guys complain about the bad writing. I would agree if someone had ever said "the writing ranges from mediocre to excellent" because that is what I see. I have not yet seen any really bad writing, only writing that's not remarkable in any way or writing that makes me take notice (that's what I call good to excellent writing). I was out wandering the wilderness the other day and happened upon yet another random dungeon. I walked in, ready to fill up on loot when I saw a ghost at the entrance looking in. When I got closer, the ghost started talking to me, telling me to turn around and go away. The ghosts name was Katria and I told her I wanted to press on regardless. She reluctantly agreed and asked if she could tag along. I thought it would be fun to have a pet cloud hovering behind me so I said yes (I usually never take companions.. ever). So I'm sneaking around this really cool place (awesome architecture), not much fighting going on, and this ghost/cloud girl keeps whispering little details about the place as I explore. I ask her how she died and she said she fell. A while later we happen upon her body and she explains that if only she had fallen one foot to the left, she would have ended up in the water and survived, but alas, it was not to be. Together we traverse the dungeon (it's a vertical kind of maze-like structure) and at the end we solve a puzzle. Turns out the prize is a lot bigger than that one dungeon though. In fact, on her cold body there was a journal that describes three other dungeons that I have to raid to get everything that is needed to make her happy. Two of them I've already raided, but we agree to meet up later when I have all the pieces of a key (I think it was). A few hours later I end up at the final dungeon with all the pieces needed and sure enough, there she is. So we open the final dungeon and fight/chat our way through to the end (some really cool set-pieces here). The prize is a choice of several different types of items I have to forge myself. When that is done, she is free to step into the light and she happily does, disappearing from the game forever. When she disappeared, I actually felt a sting of sadness. It was just a random dungeon I stepped into, but it turned out to be a little adventure together with cloud girl. I must say I appreciated that little story/piece of writing. Not bad at all.

Real men fly cabriolet.

I think Skyrim might be the prettiest game I've ever played. It helps being able to play it on Ultra settings and 2560x1440 though.

I was going to write proper reply to all the car bs in this thread, but.. "My friend", "my other friend", "a relative", "someone on the internet" kind of makes this discussion meaningless. One dude managed to use Google and immediately found out how much better cars have become in the last 50 years. You're fans of old muscle cars, I can appreciate that. But to pretend they were somehow better than modern cars.. it's just idiotic.
-
Maybe a stupid question: why do you use IE11?
-
You can, and I have. Besides, the analogy fails because a tie is a fashion item, its sole purpose is aesthetic. A greataxe is a weapon, its purpose is functional. That top spike serves no function because i's too short. Wrong. The tie is just part of your attire. You could just wear normal clothes so you don't freeze to death, but you wear a tie anyhow to uh.. spice things up. That little spike is the axe's tie. Analogy complete!!

Jesus Christ, this is so ignorant it hurts. Muscle cars (American) in the 60's and 70's were known for their bad quality (it's unfairly still the semi-general opinion on American cars in Sweden), compared to other types of cars. They broke easily and often. The only reason they're still alive is because of enthusiasts, not because of quality. Also, you're trying to compare a car from the 60-70's to a modern car. That's like comparing a brick to a house and praising the brick for not breaking as often. You're ignoring the last 40-50 years of technological advances and gigantic leaps in complexity of modern cars.

Why wear a tie if you can't blow your nose with it?

Love the beak.

Oh. Erm. I see now that I made a mistake in my first Asus Zenbook post (the one with 2x256 GB SSD and 2560x1440 IPS screen). It was never supposed to be dollars. It was supposed to be pounds. As in £2000. The one I meant is 13" and costs closer to £2000. Bargain.

I have no reference to the 290 (without X), but it is surprisingly silent. It is much, much quieter than my old dust-filled 5870 was, but that card was pretty loud. I haven't actually been able to make it go up in fan speed yet, at least that I have heard. Will need beefier games!! I have 8 fans all in all in my case, and at this point none of them stands out as the sound perpetrator. This is a good thing.

It finally arrived: Only tried a handful of games, but.. holy crap. Tessellation doesn't seem to be a problem now. I need a bigger screen. Feels like a bit of a waste on 1920x1080. At least I can max everything on everything!

He's having an off season (compared to his stellar seasons). Noone's saying he's bad, but he's down from 92% to 90%, thus good just not great. And you're hanging onto Star of the Week to prove your point. A week. How's that for "wishy washy"? Good to see him regaining his form in time for the Olympics though. Less than a month away now (Sweden plays their first game on Feb 12)!
