I'm not sure I understand your logic here. In 1994 Sweden had 0 NHL pros in the Olympics, same as Canada. In 1998 Sweden had 18 of 22 players from the NHL (the other four were former NHL players, winding down their careers in the Swedish Elite League). I'm pretty sure all top teams were affected the same way when NHL players were allowed to play. Try turning it around: if 3 of 4 referees were Swedish and the last was Finnish, would that make you feel comfortable?

Got to love it. Sweden plays Canada in the finals tomorrow. Three out of four referees in the game are.. Canadian. The fourth.. from the USA. In modern times Canada has visited the Olympic finals four times, won two. The two they lost had international referees. The two they won had Canadian referees. 2014 Sochi, Sweden - Canada Referees: Kelly Sutherland, Canada, and Brad Meier, USA. Linesmen: Derek Amell and Greg Devorski, both from Canada. 2010 Vancouver, Canada - USA, 3-2. Referees: Daniel O'Halloran and Bill McCreary, both from Canada. Linesmen: Jean Morin, Canada, and Stefan Fonselius, Finland. 2002 Salt Lake City, Canada - USA, 5-2. Referee: Bill McCreary, Canada. Linesmen: Michael Cvik, Canada, and Antti Hämäläinen, Finland. 1994 Lillehammer, Sweden - Canada, 3-2. Referee: Rob Hearn, USA. Linesmen: Vaclav Cesky, Czech Republic, and Jay Borman, USA. 1992 Albertville, OSS - Canada 3-1 Referee: Sven-Erik Sold, Sweden. Let's hope for some fair refereeing tomorrow.

- Magic sucks. It's like the scientology of games. Plothole? Use the magic excuse! Bad game design? Solve it with magic!! Gameplay not up to scratch in your **** game? USE MORE ****ING MAGIC -
I'm hoping they stick with the pirate motif, but if this picture is anything to go by, then it looks like we may be going back to a more medieval-ish theme I didn't mind the pirate theme. What I didn't like were the smallish islands and that meant less fun exploration. Agreed, one or two much larger islands would have been much better. With that said, Piranha Bytes managed to cram an amazingly high amount of stuff to find and do into each of those little islands. I was about to say that, for me what Piranha Bytes always does well is that "over the hill and far away" type of RPG. What I mean by that is they are brilliant at creating open-world RPG that you get excited exploring. The excitement at wanting to explore an RPG world is one of the fundamental tenets that make a RPG great. So yay for Risen 3, I'm very excited Some translated info from the German PC mag: Combat system: There will be a prologue during which you can experiment with higher abilities. After that, you continue on level 1. Blocks work against monsters. At the beginning, you already have an evasion somersault and short range teleport to escape combat. Big armours and swords as well as firefalls and lightning strikes. Voodoo magic will probably also be available. Unconscious enemies can be plundered. The will be party members again who will help you in combat Combat system with four different actions and rudimentary combos. Gameplay/Story: DLCs will offer more content. Roasting meat etc. will happen in a separate window again. Gameworld: Primarily middle european but also mediterranean and tropical regions. The world is modelled by hand. Swimming will be possible. Seperate loading zones like in R2. No free roaming with out loading screens. Several factions (probably three) from which to choose. Already known are the “guardians” which resemble the paladins from older games. New enemy: The shadows (undead which rise from skull caves). At the beginning of the game, the main character’s soul will be devoured by a might shadow lord. After that, he will have a soul value which can develop either towards human or demonic. New hero, the character from previous Risen games will still play a starring role however. Food will still be swapped to “provisions”. Technical: Once again forced Steam and no modding tools. Game will be developed for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC - no mention of next gen consoles. Engine will be the same as in Risen 2 with some polished graphics - but the problems of the old engine (like the stiff character animations during dialogues) are still present and do not seem up to date compared to competing titles like Dragon Age: Inquisition or The Witcher 3. Probable release: August 2014 Sounds like it will be very similar to Risen 2.. but with swimming! Big step forward, at least to me! Too bad the world is still divided with loading screens in between, but I can live with that. I also don't care about the animations. I laugh at them once and move on. Just like I do in the Bethesda games. August 2014.. long time left to wait. Oh well.

Goodbye Finland! Now go and win that bronze medal, don't want those pesky North Americans getting two medals. Great game though. We're lucky that Lundkvist hit his stride just in time for the Olympics. I thought losing Zetterberg was a tough blow (he is our team captain after all), but losing Rask? Ouch. Can't wait for the finals! Right now Canada is heading there (1-0 with 4 minutes left), but there's still time for the USA. Edit: And Canada it is!

- Obsidian's writing skills are highly overrated. I'm far more impressed by writers who can convey a story with a few words than page after page of exposition. - Bethesda writes better stories than Obsidian. - First person view is the only view for rpg's, isometric is for people who enjoy playing with dolls. And bronies. - I prefer learning-by-doing more than any other type of skill system. - I look down on people who enjoy romances in rpg's. Except one South African who's too damn friendly and impossible to hate. I know, I've tried. -
I really would have loved the upside down, hovering mammoths and backwards flying dragons too. Alas, it was not to be.

I just had my first crash to desktop in Skyrim. Steam tells me I've been playing for 153 hours so far. The benefits of getting the game late.

Almost as good as beating Finland in hockey!

That would be me. In my Audi. But I have an Audi so I automatically get an a$$hole free-card.

They're so cute, you'd still be smiling when they ripped your arm off.

Ok, well, this is a first: http://anandtech.com/show/7758/radeon-r9-290x-retail-prices-hit-900 290X hits $900! For the first time in my life I actually saved money by pre-ordering! As soon as I saw that Sapphire 290-review earlier in this thread, I pre-ordered my Sapphire 290X. Turns out that that was a good decision. I think I'll go buy a lotto ticket now.

Eschalon: Book 3 came out on Valentine's day. I had almost forgotten about it. For anyone who likes story-driven, old-school, turn-based RPG's, this is a no-brainer. To anyone else, I would still recommend these games. They are FUN.

You think?

Checking is not allowed in women's hockey. Only in men's hockey.

It's starting to look like Woldan..

Yeah, looking at the Olympics on the TV it looks excellent. Great slopes, great environments, great events all around. And now hockey is about to start!

Played through the single player campaign in Battlefield 4. Some really awkward design decisions, like constantly pulling the controls away from the player without warning for a more "cinematic" experience, unskippable cut-scenes, hugely unnecessary animations (every time you step into a vehicle you instantly regret your decision as a 15 second long unbreakable animation plays out), every time you're prompted to open a door your character stands in the middle of the door, opens it and takes a step into the room beyond.. full of angry enemies, and so on. Very nice graphical showcase, but as an actual game.. not good. I actually feel a bit ashamed that Dice are Swedish and created this game. How can they be so ignorant about common well-known no-no's in game design?

Apparently he wasn't even deaf (follow-up article): http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-02-06/japans-beethovennot-even-deaf-ghost-composer/5244282 I hadn't heard about him before, but.. what a douche.

It's horrible. Well done!

I remember trying to drink potions during combat in the Gothic games. The nameless dude slowly picked up a flask from his belt, started fiddling with the cork and promptly died. He drank it in real-time! It was hilarious.
