  1. Ok, so I read that you guys are playing South Park: The Stick of Truth, saw the 8/10 review on Eurogamer and went to Steam to buy it: WTF!
  2. I'll just throw this in here for the poor dude with the 710M.. Aorus X7 Yours for only $2099!
  3. Did anyone else hear something? I think our board might be haunted.
  4. See.. I understand 1-9. Those are my own reasons (except I hate to kill things so I basically shoot paper thingies instead). It's just number 10 that's out there.
  5. Time for me to contribute, but I'm not so fond of models and celebrities. My Ukrainian mail order bride (sorry for the eye censorship). The living proof that thin girls can have big boobs, despite what some self-appointed fitness expert on this board claims. This is what I like.
  6. But if you're so afraid of your own government to a degree that owning a gun makes you feel safer, why not advocate legalizing hand grenades and rocket launchers too? I mean, that's what the army would use against your 30.06. And tanks. And bombers. And helicopters, fighter jets, drones, cannons, mines, machine guns. machine cannons, submarines, hangars, you name it. Even if you cowboys would outnumber the armed forces 10-1, they'd still outnumber you strength wise 1000-1. It's such a weird argument to stand by. It's like grasping at straws, but worse.
  7. I will never understand why so many people think gun control = banning guns. I love guns. I am also for strict gun control. How is that combination possible? I believe in the system we have in Sweden. If you are going to buy a gun, you need to prove you are sane, that you can handle the gun and that you have no history of violence. Also, you need to keep the gun safe. That means you need to keep the actual gun in one weapons safe, the bolt in another safe and the ammunition in a third (I think, not sure about that one). In Sweden you are allowed to own any weapon you want (below caliber .50, above is classified as a cannon..) if you follow these rules. Yes, even fully automatic assault weapons (my father owned an AK-4 up until a few years ago). This above argument.. "someone trying to take away something you legally own and has done nothing illegal with". Does this end with guns? I mean, most people find it pretty natural that we can't buy hand grenades or rocket launchers in Walmart. But according to this logic, we should be able to. No-one should be able to tell someone else what they can or can't legally own. Or is it just guns? Is it because of that paper all Americans seem to hold so dear? The line is arbitrary, before guns, after guns, after hand grenades.
  8. Nonono, steroid-head said knives are at least as lethal as guns so it must be true! Jesus Christ, I could almost feel my IQ dropping from reading that post.
  9. I'm assuming it would be greatly helpful to the whole story, but do I need to start from the first game in order to enjoy this third release? Just wondering since your character seems to be starting from level 1. No. I don't even remember the story from the first two games, and every time they reference anything from the previous games they give you the option to say "I'm sorry, but I don't remember" and you get the whole story again.
  10. Delving deeper into Eschalon: Book 3. Started as a ranger with a bow, made it to level 10 (or so) before I realized that bows blow. Restarted as a fighter with a sword, made it to level 10 in less than 2 hours. Game is more fun now. I love the puzzles in the Eschalon games. They're not afraid to challenge their players and some of the puzzles are seriously difficult. You really need to think. I love it. No hand-holding, map is dependent on your own skill, it's possible to fail quests, combat is challenging, story is interesting (although a bit too way-out-there for my taste) and the graphics and sounds are charming. I like this game. Another!
  11. No, you weren't. It's a solid machine. The CPU holds its own still and the GPU was high end when you bought it. 16 GB RAM is even today somewhat overkill.
  12. There's a reason Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas has sold millions more copies than the old games. Look as hard as you want through your rose-tinted glasses, but there's a reality out there if you ever want to come out of your nostalgia shell, and it's not bad.
  13. Oh hey, this test seems like fun! http://www.buzzfeed.com/marietelling/what-european-country-do-you-actually-belong-in ... Please kill me. Please kill me now.
  14. Yeah, that was one of my biggest gripes about both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. If you're stumbling through a wasteland of abandoned buildings and you're looking for supplies, which one would you set your sights on: the boarded up, untouched building or the building with welcoming, open doors? It was annoying that I couldn't break into the closed-up buildings since, according to my logic, those would have a greater chance of still containing something useful.
  15. Playing Eschalon: Book 3 now. Got around 3 hours under my belt and I can already say that this game is excellent. And I still love the cartography skill! The problem is that insects murder me because I spend all my skill points on cartography
  16. Starting up Eschalon: Book 3 tonight. I can't believe I'm the only one who seems to be interested in these games! Edit: Ok, hmm, seems the game is locked to 1024x768 resolution. Looks a little bit funny on my 2560x1440 screen..
  17. A few new screenies from Risen 3: Titan Lords, courtesy of Eurogamer: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-02-25-risen-3-announced-for-pc-ps3-xbox-360-due-autumn Looks ok. Although I'm slightly worried about the world design again. It's impossible to see from these screen so far, but Risen and Risen 2 suffered from the tunnel syndrome, in that the developers were so eager to show the player the right way that they basically carved tunnels in the landscape to guide the players, thus removing the open-world feel of the game. I really hope they don't do that again. I want to get lost.
  18. I hope you got the Samsung 840 PRO 256+ GB
  19. First Risen 3 Screenshot, released by Piranha Bytes: There are more in the German print mag, but since they haven't been officially released yet..
  20. The first number usually denotes which generation of card it is (although that enumeration has been kind of lost by now). Second number shows the power of the card (higher is better). Third number shows if the card is an alternate version (zero is the base, 5 is usually the alternate version, differences are usually small). These rules apply for both Nvidia and AMD.
  21. I'm interested in this purely because of DICE's Frostbite 3 engine. The actual game.. not so much.
  22. It's out if you're a pirate.
  23. I'm hoping they stick with the pirate motif, but if this picture is anything to go by, then it looks like we may be going back to a more medieval-ish theme I didn't mind the pirate theme. What I didn't like were the smallish islands and that meant less fun exploration. Agreed, one or two much larger islands would have been much better. With that said, Piranha Bytes managed to cram an amazingly high amount of stuff to find and do into each of those little islands. I was about to say that, for me what Piranha Bytes always does well is that "over the hill and far away" type of RPG. What I mean by that is they are brilliant at creating open-world RPG that you get excited exploring. The excitement at wanting to explore an RPG world is one of the fundamental tenets that make a RPG great. So yay for Risen 3, I'm very excited Some translated info from the German PC mag: Combat system: There will be a prologue during which you can experiment with higher abilities. After that, you continue on level 1. Blocks work against monsters. At the beginning, you already have an evasion somersault and short range teleport to escape combat. Big armours and swords as well as firefalls and lightning strikes. Voodoo magic will probably also be available. Unconscious enemies can be plundered. The will be party members again who will help you in combat Combat system with four different actions and rudimentary combos. Gameplay/Story: DLCs will offer more content. Roasting meat etc. will happen in a separate window again. Gameworld: Primarily middle european but also mediterranean and tropical regions. The world is modelled by hand. Swimming will be possible. Seperate loading zones like in R2. No free roaming with out loading screens. Several factions (probably three) from which to choose. Already known are the “guardians” which resemble the paladins from older games. New enemy: The shadows (undead which rise from skull caves). At the beginning of the game, the main character’s soul will be devoured by a might shadow lord. After that, he will have a soul value which can develop either towards human or demonic. New hero, the character from previous Risen games will still play a starring role however. Food will still be swapped to “provisions”. Technical: Once again forced Steam and no modding tools. Game will be developed for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC - no mention of next gen consoles. Engine will be the same as in Risen 2 with some polished graphics - but the problems of the old engine (like the stiff character animations during dialogues) are still present and do not seem up to date compared to competing titles like Dragon Age: Inquisition or The Witcher 3. Probable release: August 2014 Sounds like it will be very similar to Risen 2.. but with swimming! Big step forward, at least to me! Too bad the world is still divided with loading screens in between, but I can live with that. I also don't care about the animations. I laugh at them once and move on. Just like I do in the Bethesda games. August 2014.. long time left to wait. Oh well. More info is leaking: Russian source: The world will be their biggest so far. NPC navigation will be improved. Material physics improved. Physically based rendering More from the German print mag: - quest related NPCs will be immortal - astral sight: the ocular will be used to see enemies flashing in red and detect chest loot and other stuff like this. - you find items belonging to dead people in the living world, return them in the world of the dead, and get bonuses, like loot locations - you will meet with the inquisitor from R1 in the land of the dead - you regain humanity by collecting "soul dust" in the world of the dead - muskets AND bows - combat similar to G1 and 2 - there will be climbing, but only in certain places Climbing only in certain places. Well, that certainly sucked in Risen 2. I hope they've made it less obvious and clumsy at least. The rest sounds fine.
  24. Well, that sucked. Referees were good though.
  25. I wonder if these people even know they have an official board? Obsidian employees seem to be active board members.. on every board in the known universe except their own.
