  1. Sorry I had no idea it would become so long and didn't realize it until I had already posted it. Now I'm just too lazy to edit it Anyhow, in response to Kaftan's cry for realism: I'M WITH YOU, BUDDY! When I said zombies I was actually thinking more of diseased people, that they were more zombie-like than zombies. Like some horrible plague had hit mankind (would explain the apocalypse). But that's not mandatory for my game. It might as well just be other humans, divided into groups, all with different views on how to best survive in the wasteland. I really crave realistic weapons though, like in the game Wasteland (up until a point..). Why do so few games use real life weaponry? Why does everything have to be about lightsabres and magic/psychic powers?

    NHL

Well, trying to buy a player of Malkin's caliber for $200,000 is a bit of a travesty. They should have some sort of system that increased the payment, the higher the player is ranked. Personally I think it's sick that swedish clubs get the same amount of money regardless if they send Anders Eriksson or Peter Forsberg to the NHL. Of course, the NHL is going to paint the russian hockey federation as the money grappbing crooks, as long as they can buy the next Lemieux for $200,000..
  3. Gaah! You're a nut. Anyhow, I am trying to upgrade my PSU to a test winner to get my system ready for the big Conroe upgrade this autumn. It's proven more difficult than I thought as I've been sent the wrong item from an online shop (took 10 days to localize the fault and return the item), bought it from a local shop and is now in waiting for it to arrive, even though they promised it several days ago. Grr.
  4. This was exactly my thought too. I had a weak feeling that Sony promised this with the Playstation 3 a long time ago already. I haven't bothered to check up on it though.
  5. Actually, in games like Civilization 4, Rise & Fall and the like, the CPU can severely bottleneck the system, long before the GPU reaches its limit. Well, unless you have a really weak GPU and insist on using only 2560x1920 or something )
  6. Post apocalyptic roleplaying game, set on a continent just like Fallout except in full 3D (think GTA: San Andreas but with nice graphics). You'd just be set loose in a bombed out apartment at the top of a skyscraper in a big city, and your first mission would be to try to get out of the building alive (think crazed mutants). When you've gotten out of the first building (via the basement, into flooded subways and onto the street through a crater in the road outside, for example), you'd have the problem of getting out of the city (think agressive radioactive zombies.. or something). Once you've taken care of a few missions (getting decent equipment, a few levels under your belt and your first car/motorcycle) you'd be able to blow up the makeshift barricades surrounding the town and the whole continent would be yours for exploring, complete with desert gas stations, old villages, remnants of civilization here and there, abvandoned cities, dams, endless roads (with encounters of course), bridges. From there on you'd be able to take part in everyday life in the wasteland, complete sidequests (there should be lots of them) or pursue the main quest, which would be to try to localize the distress signal you'd pick up on your car's radio (find the last remaining piece of civilization, join them, save the humanity from some growing threat (growing biological threat, turning people into zombie-like beings perhaps?).. or something equally cheesy). All the maps should be streaming (no loading screens) and the graphics engine would have to be able to switch from detailed indoor scenes to vast outdoor scenes in an instant. The view would be third person in vehicles and first person on foot. You should be able to get out of your vehicle at all times (to explore or whatever), the vehicles should be upgradable (if you can find a skilled mechanic and the right parts) and there would be no magic, no psychic abilities, no unexplainable events whatsoever, just AK-47's, GLOCK's and Molotov ****tails (and the like). Dialogue would be handled like in Vampire - Bloodlines, where the camera zoomed in for a closeup headshot in conversations. Oh, and the character would be able to climb, jump and swim (like in Gothic 2) and the overhead map would work like in Oblivion, where you could insta-travel to places you'd already visited. ARE YOU LISTENING, FEARGUS?!
  7. I'm playing the "waiting for my new, powerful PSU to arrive" game. I hate it.
  8. Horrible, but the games I'm looking forward to are all sequels. Gothic 3 Boiling Point 2 Bioshock (not really a sequel, but everyone thinks of it as System Shock 3 anyhow..) Those are at the top of the list for me. I have a bunch of others that I am following with interest.
  9. Is there anything more pathetic than these drama queen board exits? Just leave, the other 12000+ members will fill in your weak attempts at "intelligent discussion" just fine. Microsoft didn't lie. They just "changed their stance".
  10. You know this study is flawed when Sweden ends up in seventh and FINLAND in sixth. Sweden never loses anything to Finland. Ever!!1
  11. It's only creepy if you assume I'd take a photo of her unknowingly, something which I've never done. It is possible to talk to women, you little nerd.
  12. I'm still thinking about that redheaded girl from this morning. Why, oh why did she have to wear a thin, white blouse in some stretchy material that was partly see-through? Why, oh why did she have to arch her back so enticingly when she stood up on her bike in that steep hill? I should have brought a camera.
  13. Behold the X1950XTX! Sexy! And notice the gigantic CPU cooler in the background.. )
  14. Uhm.. how can a thread about a new GPU get out of hand? What did I miss?
  15. I'm thinking about the red-headed girl I rode my bike behind for the last half-mile or so on my way to work this morning. I'm thinking about how she had the most perfect body and cutest little jeans butt I've seen in.. years. I'm going to keep thinking about her all day too, so there! Mmm..
  16. I'm thinking about how I'm going to fit four long journeys and a trip to Hong Kong in three weeks. It's stressing me out and this is supposed to be my vacation!
  17. X-rays cause cancer. When they designed the x-ray machines they naturally designed them to radiate with the least amount of energy possible, calculating for them to reach through a normal human being, give or take a couple of inches. I can easily imagine those rays being too weak to penetrate a huge beer belly, the size of a second person clingong onto another person. Maybe that's the problem, maybe not, but that would be my guess.
  18. It will be interesting to compare the next generation of cards. ATI's R600 is supposed to utilize the same tech as seen in the Xbox 360 GPU (unified shaders) and GDDR4. I don't know much about Nvidia's G80, but historically the two companies have always been close in performance so I'm sure Nvidia has some neat tricks up its sleeve. Not so sure it's Nvidia that's going to "pwn" us though.
  19. The Conroe goes on sale on aug. 12 and aug 20 (different versions of it) here in Sweden. By then a lot of motherboard manufacturers will have had time to release their new Conroe compatible boards. I'm going to wait for a decent Abit one myself, so I can get hold of
  20. Boiling Point! It's kind of like a mix between FPS and RPG. Mostly FPS though, as all combat (and there's lots of it) is FPS. You'll battle attack helicopters, tanks, boats and soldiers. Everywhere. Also, it costs like $10 now. I loved that game, even though it took a 200 MB patch to get it running like it should.
  21. No. But we're not insane either.
  22. I had a rather weird dream recently. At the local gym I go to there's this wheelchair bound girl who also works out. She's very pretty and very friendly and very strong, so I guess she left some kind of impression in my mind. When I went to sleep one night after going to the gym I dreamt that me and that girl was together, but not as if we had been together for a long time. It was more like she suddenly had replaced my real life girlfriend and now I was abruptly going to have to change my life and ways of living to fit in with someone in a wheelchair. It was incredibly stressful because my apartment (which looked nothing like my apartment I live in now, but it was more like a mix of my childhood home, my old dorm room, my current apartment and probably something else) was not at all suited for someone in a wheelchair. I also didn't know what to expect from her, like what she needed help with, what she expected from me, how her everyday life looked like and so on. It was incredibly stressful, and it didn't help that my sick brain decided that she wanted to have sex too. It was incredibly awkward, and I felt guilty for having so many prejudices and lack so much knowledge about people in wheelchairs. I was still shook up when I woke up.
  23. Actually, I don't think the situation's changed in that regard. Nvidia has a much bigger marketshare than ATI and Intel totally dominates the CPU market. The entire situation feels like a big triangle where two of the corners are attacking one recently merged corner from two different directions. It's like Intel + Nvidia against AMD-ATI, so even if AMD and ATI are being strenghtened by each other, they also bring with them their own opponents into the deal so the combined opponent power evens out the possible strength gained by becoming a bigger company. But that's just my own speculation on the current situation.
  24. That's still a strange way of looking at it. Intel used to compete with Nvidia in the chipset market and integrated GPU market, with ATI in the chipset market and integrated GPU market (integrated GPU's vastly outsell the GPU's used for gaming, so yes they count) and with AMD mainly in the CPU market. Now intel competes with TWO companies, AMD-ATI and Nvidia. If intel manages to break AMD-ATI, would you see it as we lost one or two competitors? If Intel can outsell and outperform AMD-ATI, it will be much more devastating now than when they were separate companies.
