  1. Are the finns annoying you too? Vote mkreku for a finn-free environment!
  2. When you think of nudie pics, think mkreku!
  3. Mmm, Kane.. memories.
  4. http://usa.asus.com/event/physx/card.html Apparently Asus has decided to release an Ageia PhysX physics card now. Asus deal includes GRAW in the package, which may make it more worthwhile than the BFG card. Those are the only two manufacturers that I've heard of that even bothered making PhysX cards.. I wonder what made Asus jump on the sinking Ageia ship now..? Did I miss something? Edit: Uhm.. it seems my hardware vendors were the ones missing the Asus: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2751 Apparently it's been out since May. Oh well.
  5. That is exactly the reason why I'm not so interested in meeting people from these boards..
  6. If I become moderator there will be free nudie pics for everyone. And I would never remove any nudie pics either! Actually, I would probably not do much at all. Actually, I would be a lousy, lazy moderator. But I would make these fora a finn-free zone!!1! VOTE FOR ME.
  7. It would be kind of neat if the card somehow had an ant-like AI (send out a billion "ants" in all directions, the one that returns first with a completed mission is the one that the other ants will follow and try to improve upon) that was able to find the fastest route between two servers itself. But unless it does that (highly unlikely) I'm doubtful that this card can improve anything significantly.
  8. Played a little Silent Storm last night. Mostly messed with the random encounters to see what they were all about and tried to get my character up a level or two (ended up getting 5 levels in the process). My initial plan was to solo the entire game, by building a shadowy sniper that can heal himself, mostly because I think it's too slow to manage an entire squad in turn-based combat. I think it was the second mission that started by me being in a cramped room, surrounded by five enemy soldiers. Or was it six? So much for my solo plans, huh? I solved that by running out the door and into a small park outside, filled with hedges, where I laid down in a bush and hid. Fortunately I can get off two shots with my sniper rifle every round and that almost always kills whoever I shoot at. So basically I laid in a bush and at the beginning of every round I stood up, took two quick shots at anyone close and laid back down. 15 rounds later the park was brimful with Sten MkIII's and bodies. At one point there were so many enemies in the park that whenever I missed a shot, I'd see a small cloud of blood on the other end of the screen, where the missed shot hit some soldier that wasn't even visible to me yet! It was cool. Only mistake I made was when I was hiding in some woods (same level) and tried to get around to the back of the main building. When I crossed a small grass covered area, this named officer saw me and started shooting at me with his pistol. Since he was quite far away he never hit me, so I just stopped out in the open and shot back at him. Strangely enough he survived two shots, but since he only had his peashooter on him (pistols are so far extremely underpowered), I didn't bother to run for cover. He wouldn't hit me anyhow, right? The very next round the guy magically summons a huuuge machinegun from under his clothes (where the HELL did he have it before so that I couldn't see it?!) and empties a full clip into my surprised character. Reload time. It seems like a good game so far, even though the voice overs are somewhat cheesy.
  9. What a disappointment But you do wear a bikini at least, right?
  10. And now this thread will turn into a retard-fest when Volourn tries desperately to convince everyone that random posts on an obscure developer board are actual news and that there's lots and lotzzz of info about Dragon Age everywhere and it's common knowledge and blah blah bs bs bs. Anyhow, on topic: care to share what the survey was asking about more specifically? Would be interesting to hear.
  11. I don't think I'll be quite that brutal. I'm playing a sniper
  12. Actually, there is. I believe Piranha Bytes have a vision of what they're trying to create. On top of that they have the knowledge of what kind of graphics is needed to sell games to the mainstream graphic whores. Combining the two is making a game that will run badly (with maxxed settings) on today's computers but will run better in a few months from now (when ATI and Nvidia release their R600 and G80). Besthesda are known for doing the exact same thing. When Oblivion was released, it stuttered even on the fastest computers available. Actually, I think it still stutters on whatever you throw at it. They also did this with Morrowind, Daggerfall and Arena. I remember Daggerfall being barely playable when it arrived in 1996 (I think it was). The Gothic series has always been known for their extremely long viewing distances. Gothic 3 will be no exception and combined with the newest graphical bling-bling this will take a huge toll on any computer. I don't believe there's anything wrong with the engine, although I am sure they will optimize it further before it is released.
  13. I didn't. Everytime I've thought of Alan, I've pictured a two inch tall bikini clad model. *fapfapfap*
  14. Not really. The actual "town", Rapture, isn't filled with water so you'renot going to swim around, you're going to walk around. And unless being underwater seriously alters visibility through air, that's still unexplained. It looks a bit like a slimy Fable.. not a good thing.
  15. I agree about the dialogue-tree and player driven choice opinions. I've always thought D&D was boring because of how stat based it really is. Also, I thought it was hilarious to read how all these self-proclaimed hardcore roleplayers on these boards were struggling with their metagaming in Oblivion, when it became painfully clear that their usual roll-playing didn't work and they actually had to recalculate their "roleplaying" to make the most of their characters. Not only did they whine like little piglets, they also had the audacity to blame the game for being crappy because they had to metagame. Just hilarious. It sounds as Bioshock will be another shock for our dear diceroll-players. Edit: Typo.
  16. Why does every screenshot from that game look like it's taken through an oil filter? There's this shiny, blurry, cloud-like look in front of everything. I don't like it one bit. Other than that it sounds really good, except for one bit: it seems they're trying to make the game heavily AI-dependant. Oblivion tried that too.. Actually, I've never seen a game where the AI has been a positive experience.. except perhaps FEAR.. and Far Cry sometimes.. Risky.
  17. Well.. just as a comparison: right now Gothic 3 stutters on a 7900GTX x2 SLI-system. And that's supposed to be released in two months! I'm going to spend $1200 on upgrading my computer when Gothic 3 arrives, but now I'm not even sure if that's enough.
  18. The hot chick on the right? Please. Pretty please. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you insane, demented finn?! ALAN, PLEASE BE THE GIRL IN THE YELLOW BIKINI IN THE TOP LEFT HAND CORNER OF THE PIC!! We need more of those in these fora.
  19. I wonder why he protested. Are israeli women that unattractive..?
  20. I bought Silent Storm last night. Only gone through the tutorial and the first mission (where you have to carry your unconscious commander to safety) but it seems pretty cool already. One thing worries me though: the first map was very small, almost like a tunnel leading up to the motorcycle. Are all maps that cramped or was that just so us newbies wouldn't get lost in the woods?
  21. But.. but.. It's a fps with super-macho men, oversized weapons and ridiculously over-detailed body armours!! It has to be hyped, especially when all the textures range from dirty brown to dirty grey.. everywhere!
  22. My mom loved it, if that's any help

I'm not trying to convince anyone that Zherdev is better than Nash, I am just pointing out how differently the media views two different players based on (what it looks like to me) their nationality. $1.1 million is low for a player of Zherdev's caliber (I'd say over $2 million based on what other players around the league have gotten) just as $4.5 million is a bit high for Nash. Or maybe not, if he's the one pulling in the crowds.

The name is Zherdev. Nikolai Zherdev. And I wouldn't mind him "grubbing" some money in a Leafs uniform.. Edit: By the way, I love how NA media is covering this. Notice how foreigners are always depicted as "money-grubbing" and NA players as "having heart" (that arbitrary, abstract intangible that always seems worth paying lots of extra dollars for)? Zherdev has talent. Lots of it. They are offering him $1.1 million for a one year contract. Zherdev happens to play on the same team as Rick Nash, another talented youngster. They're both pretty new to the league so comparing them is a bit tricky, but over their first two seasons (in Zherdev's case, his only seasons) in the NHL, Zherdev has a higher PPG average than Nash. Maybe an unfair comparison, but I felt as since they're both still adjusting and evolving, their first two seasons should be the closest we can come to getting a look at their skill level (and development curve) side by side. Zherdev: 2003-2004: 57 games played, 13 goals, 21 assists, 34 points, -11 2005-2006: 73 games played, 27 goals, 27 assists, 54 points, -13 130 games played with a 0.68 PPG average and +/- at -24. Nash: 2002-2003: 74 games played, 17 goals, 22 assists, 39 points, -27 2003-2004: 80 games played, 41 goals, 16 assists, 57 points, -35 154 games played with a 0.62 PPG average and +/- at -62. They're both pretty injury prone, Zherdev plays a more mature defensive game and Nash is the better pure goalscorer. Guess what? Rick Nash didn't have to fight for his new contract worth $27 million over 5 years! This year alone will net him $4.5 million. They are offering Zherdev $1.1 million for a one year contract. Personally I think that's an insult to Zherdev, but the media are writing this up as if it's Zherdev being the crook. Zherdev had to leave his family, friends and country halfway across the world to come and play in the NHL, in a land where they don't speak his language. Nash just moved from Canada to Columbus and unless he only spoke french (highly unlikely) the transition was probably much easier. That intangible alone is worth extra compensation. Personally I hope Zherdev stays in Russia and plays. That or he's traded to the Leafs.
  25. More funny videos, less religious crap, you spammy moderator.
