It's been released? I remember playing the demo of it a while ago. It was actually quite fun, except for the horrible translations and voice-overs. As usual.

If I was video gaming industry overlord...

I'd make Crackman. It would be about a round, yellow dude, eating pills like there was no tomorrow. And then he'd be haunted by his own ghostly hallucinations around a mazelike town. It'd be an instant hit, I know it! -
That's actually not too shabby.. hmm.. The AM2 socket is supposedly going to be compatible with the AM3 socket that AMD will use for their K8 design in.. oh.. 2007-2008? If you have faith in AMD coming back with a bang with K8, then the Athlon 64 X2 5000+ might not be such a bad choice.

GTA: San Andreas is one of the best games I've ever played. My only complaint about it would be the impossibility of finding each and every shell/graffitti/photograph/horseshoe to actually be able to get any rewards. I liked the "one reward/ten collected thingies" system in GTA: Vice City much better. I still haven't gotten a single reward in San Andreas

~4 minute Mass Effect trailer on 360 marketplace
mkreku replied to Epiphany's topic in Computer and Console
For the record, I thought it reminded me an awful lot of Star Wars too. At least of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.. -
I don't particularly like Peca. Some players really do have intangibles that make them invaluable even if they don't put up huge numbers, but in Peca's case it feels like a lame excuse for an underachieving, overrated player. But, I am always open for a change in attitude. Here's hoping he can prove me wrong this season! Too bad the Leafs didn't sign an offensive cannon instead. I feel that they've adressed the defensive problems they had last year by getting rid of Allison, Berg, Khavanov and Klee and adding Kubina and (hrmm) Gill. For once I'd love to see Sundin play with a skilled winger. A top-of-the-line winger! I'm getting sick and tired of seeing Sundin struggle on his own in the offensive. Oh well, he's done it for what.. the last 7 years or so, I guess he can be alone for yet another season. Wellwood, Stajan and Steen are the bright lights in the Leafs future. Together with Colaiacovo, Kronwall, Pohl and some other names that I can't even spell right, I actually see the future as a good thing, as opposed to the last ten years or so for my Leafs. I can't wait to see the young guns take to the ice this year! They should have signed Wellwood to a longer contract.

Can't say I'll miss him. 33 games as a Leaf, good riddance Eric!

That was the most ridiculous cast of characters I've seen in a looong while. And the graphic style is so generic it's making me ill. Gee, never saw overdimensioned body armour types with tiny, macho-looking heads before. And the weapons.. THE BIGGER THE BETTER. MORE UNNECESSARY DETAIL, PLEASE!! MAKE THEM STRIPED, DOTTED, HARLEQUIN SHAPED, WHATEVER, JUST MAKE THEM TOO MUCH. ALL OVER!!1! Bah.

It was definitely worth a try ) Who knows, maybe one of the developers will smuggle the code to him, right under the noses of Atari.

Did anyone play that obscure RPG called Steambot Chronicles yet? I haven't found it yet myself.

I thought the keyword was 'if'..

You can get an Intel CPU as fast as the Athlon FX-62 (the former CPU king) for appr. $320. The Athlon FX-62 still costs $1000+.. Guess which is better value for your money?
-
These CPU's need new motherboards, because they have some hardware checks that the motherboard has to support. Only the newest of the new will do that. Without those checks, the Conroe will not even allow you to boot.

Do you think there's anyone left on planet Earth that doesn't know this by now? You could ask a ****ing eskimoe if Hades likes Diablo and he would know the answer. Your endless repetition on the same subject and Darque's stupid one-smiley posts are the scourge of this forum. Seriously.
-
That is true.. But not really a problem. The new CPU's are supposed to be released in two weeks from now, but Dell (and the other big names in the industry) are getting the first batches of processors. I would be very surprised if there wasn't a shortage of CPU's in the following weeks. Unless you buy a ready-made Dell, something which I would strongly discourage. Also, the prices of the new CPU's will have stabilized by the time Nvidia and VIA have released their new motherboards, supplies will have been met and if there are any problems with the new architecture, we'll know by then. A smart move would then be to wait for the second generation of motherboards from all the boardmakers, as their first tries seldom realize the potential in the new hardware. Until then I'm sure it's possible to "get by" with Intel motherboards + Crossfire. )

I have my sights set for the Core 2 Duo 6600.. and a generation 8 GPU. Gothic 3 is going to be released this autumn and that's when I'm going to upgrade. With a little luck, they'll have released the new GPU's by then.

"But make no mistake, what you see before you is not the power hungry, poor performing, non-competitive garbage (sorry guys, it's the truth) that Intel has been shoving down our throats for the greater part of the past 5 years. No, you're instead looking at the most impressive piece of silicon the world has ever seen, at the fastest desktop processor we've ever tested. What you're looking at is Conroe and today is its birthday." Source: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2795 "First of all let me sort the facts: As soon as Core 2 Duo hits the market, it will... be the fastest x86 processor (both single and dual core models) make the Pentium D and all predecessors look like antiques be the clear choice for performance users despite its rather expensive price outperform the complete Athlon 64 family (X2 and FX) in all areas, including gaming, where AMD has traditionally been very strong consume less energy than other standard desktop processors transform the whole Intel platform from an energy-hungry beast to a reasonable solution that is competitive in terms of performance per Watt" Source: http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/07/14/cor...n_64/index.html AMD's fastest CPU is the Athlon FX-62, which is priced at ~$1000. Intel's new equivalent (in performance) is the Core 2 Duo E6600, priced at ~$318! Above that they now have two faster CPU's than AMD.. Intel is again king. So.. For the fastest computer available right now, go with the Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme X6800 and two Crossfire-connected ATI X1900XTX's. Edit: Typo.

Well, I think the idea of having an open-ended RPG set in the world of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a very cool idea. I would love to explore that world, if they made it as huge, detailed and believable as it would have to be for it to be Tolkien. I would have high hopes for this game.. if it wasn't for the fact that it's being made by EA. Personally, I think EA has kind of changed direction a little lately, as they seem less intent on just making sequel after sequel of already established franchises, but I don't think they're at the point of making anything groundbreaking yet. One can hope they're slowly working their way back to their roots. Does anyone except me even remember EA before they became a gigantic, faceless mega-corporation..?

~4 minute Mass Effect trailer on 360 marketplace
mkreku replied to Epiphany's topic in Computer and Console
I thought the game looked really good in the trailer. A few things though: noone knows what kind of areas you'll be moving around in. Will the areas be linear, small and cramped? Will there be loading screens every five minutes as you move from area to area? Another thing to note: the combat looks like Gothic in space! Ok, maybe not, but it's more like Deus Ex than Baldur's Gate or KotOR. I like that. -
The Gothic series has always been translated appropriately. It's mostly the russian games that are translated extremely badly. But I do have a certain mistrust against german games that try to live off of the names of old RPG classics. Like The Fall (Fallout) and now this (they mention Baldur's Gate)

Are you daydreaming about my **** again? WE'RE TALKING NERD-FACTOR HERE, PERV!

Words cannot begin to describe the nerd-factor in this thread.

Uhm.. What? Maybe you need non-American eyes to see the blatant hero portrayal of the american soldiers and the obvious villain portrayal of.. basically everyone else. It's full of extremely simple-minded clich
