Yeah, I'm sure you'd be here if you hadn't heard about it being ex-BIS.

Wow. You even dress like a nerd.

Muso? is a finn. Finns are like c0ckroaches. When the third world war ends, only finns and Wico joysticks will remain intact. Don't you worry, he'll be here. Forever.

You're missing the point. The number of fps doesn't matter, the point is that Windows XP (probably) wouldn't be the best platform for gaming if there were alternatives. I mean, if a Linux variant can beat Windows XP in performance for a game primarily developed for Windows, that's not very assuring, is it? I for one would love to see more competing OS'es with full Windows executable compability.

Uhm.. You made a prediction with a 50% outcome. Two options, you "predicted" one of them and this time, you were right. The odds were on your side. If you had predicted Italy from the beginning, that would have been food for thought, especially if you had come up with some sort of insane theory as "proof". Coming up with a theory after the games have been played and predicting the right team in a final game is not noteworthy.

What happened to all the good space sims??
mkreku replied to Ginthaeriel's topic in Computer and Console
I saw someone talking about Freespace in this thread earlier.. Then I saw this: http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=60789 Both Freespace games for 49 SEK (appr. 6,68 USD). Should I buy..? -
I bought Morrowind Collector's Edition Anyhow, I want the cloth map and I'd love the ring too ) Edit: Looks like things are going well for Obsidian's latest project.. and it's not even released yet! This is how the pre-order top ten looks like at Webhallen right now. Neverwinter Nights 2 take up spot 1, 3, 4 and 6 (in different versions)!

I think the Italians and the Portoguese are the ones ruining the game of football. And I must agree with the k-fruit3: this was the worst World Cup Finals I've ever seen. People can say whatever they want, but the flops and diving was worse than ever. AND I'VE SEEN ITALIAN FOOTBALL BEFORE. Something about the game definitely has to change. I wish they would change the way the referee works (like they did in the NHL last season), but that will never happen.. The system is too old and full of tradition.

I've never really played a Diablo clone extensively (except Sacred, but that doesn't count because it had horses!!). I'm a little intrigued by those colour coded loot thingies. I remember the feeling of excitement I got whenever I found something purple (or even blue) in World of Warcraft, and I imagine it's the same thing in a Diablo clone. Of course, if you found something purple in WoW, it usually meant you could sell it for several hundreds of gold in the auction house, something which might not be possible in a single player experience But from what I've read from this thread, Karka, Setzer and LostStraw all bought this game..? Why do you buy games that you know are Diablo clones when you obviously seem to dislike the genre so much?

I think Pidesco called it first..

What happened to all the good space sims??
mkreku replied to Ginthaeriel's topic in Computer and Console
I just realized that I haven't been hooked on a space simulator since Elite. On the Commodore 64 (2-3 fps rocks!). -
I re-installed Battlefield 2 tonite (God knows why..) and me and my cousin got our respective butts kicked as usual. I'm horrible at these types of games. Now I need to go and dominate in a RPG to get my self esteem back

My World Cup XI: Classic 4-4-2 Goalkeeper: Jens Lehman - He's dominated his penalty area in every game. Defense: Fabio Cannavaro - He can do it all. Philipp Lahm - Unexpectedly good and mature in his game. Gianluca Zambrotta - Those Italians sure know their defense. Willy Sagnol - He keeps on running and creating chances for the offense. Midfield: Zidane - He's like a king among pawns. Michael Essien - Powerful, fast and intelligent. Michael Ballack - And he is still getting better.. Patrick Vieira - Strong and skillful and can be defensive. Forwards: Miroslav Klose - Deadly in front of the goal. Andriy Shevchenko - Took Ukraine on his back and went far.

The Day After I look at my hands, My body is numb I try to stand up, My feet acting dumb. I glance at the bed, Realize my mistake A beautiful face, Turned out to be fake. I lower my eyes, Lingerie in a heap How did this happen? Oh sh!t, I'm in deep A diesel-like taste, Filling my mouth Run to the toilet, My head's going south "Can it get any worse?!", I scream at the loo Then Kirottu walks in, "Was it good for you too?"

I don't think the X800 has Shader Model 3.0 support though. I'm thinking the Oblivion gates would be a problem.. among other more obscure things (like certain spells).

It's impossible to tell. The Source engine is probably playable on a DirectX 7 compatible video card while Oblivion uses all the latest bells and whistles. In other words; Source runs on anything, Oblivion is very picky about its GPU's.

How do you know one OS is good when there are no alternatives? I'm sure we'd be seeing better versions of Windows, if the file/executable formats were open source and anyone could make their own Windows compatible OS. As long as one company has a monopoly on 90% of the world's computers, we'll never really know if Windows XP is "better" or not. I do know that Windows takes up lots and lots of unnecessary space, it sucks at multitasking and it requires you to restart your hardware for almost everything. It wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that Windows is a crappy OS for gaming too, as it's resource intensive even in stealth mode. One thing's for sure: if there were several companies battling to create the best Windows OS, the prices would drop.

Damn, you guys are writing serious poems! I wrote mine in a five minute break at work..

And this is the reason why I think it should be possible to ban some members from a single thread.. Some people just don't add anything to a discussion, no matter what it's about, and just continue to troll away endlessly. The NHL threads are the best threads on these boards, with one smelly exception. Moving on: why did Spacek want to leave Edmonton? Didn't he play brilliantly in the playoffs? Why did Edmonton let him go? I understand why Pronger had to leave, but after losing Pronger, wouldn't it be so much more important for Edmonton to try to retain the other solid d-men in the roster? I don't understand that trade. Laraque and Domi are gone. Although Laraque got a new contract (Domi probably won't), it really looks like the end of the big-hearted, talentless enforcers. As long as the physical aspect of the game remains intact (or close to intact) I don't mind at all that they free up roster space for young talent by firing their enforcers. I guess the few fights that will occur in the future will be more "honest" in the coming seasons. By honest I mean that the fights will start between two players that are severely pissed off at each other, instead of between two stupid enforcers who only play for 40 seconds per game and then only to instigate a fight, on orders from the coach.
